I'm glad the right-wing understands that we liberals are indeed elite.

Just Ignorant: I'm glad the right-wing understands that we liberals are indeed elite.

His stance has some merit.

Too bad he uses the Swift Boat mudslinging and "Rathergate" to make his point.

2005-01-19 12:19:12 PM
Okay, I stopped reading when the writer mentioned the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth.
I didn't like Kerry, but that saga was just a load of pullpoo. I already know this article is going to be about as accurate and unbiased as a cartoon by Ted Rall (just to even things out a bit).

Very Limbaugh-esqe, imo. Of course Boxer is biased, she's a democrat. That's not news.

However, is it possible, just the tiniest bit, that the genuineness of the statement that she refers to appears to be genuine because he appears to be speaking from the heart? That his brother is running in the election?

Nope. Couldn't be. That would go against your "vision" of liberals. Can't have THAT!

Get off your high horse already!

2005-01-19 12:20:31 PM
Wait now. There is a GOP President. There is a GOP majority in the Senate and a GOP majority in the House. There are 30 GOP governors.

Who are the elite again?

2005-01-19 12:22:06 PM
ejenkins1979,

Why? Because it just might be true that the current difficulties in Iraq can be traced to the Iraqi Sunni romantic view of the criminals as Robin Hoods much like the average schmuck in the 30's viewed Capone and Dillinger as folk heros. This too shall pass. The army will become strong and the young firebreathers will be given a nice comfy dirt nap. One truism in all this is that radical warriors are not infinite in number. If there is another truism, it is that liberals in the US are not going to be able to grab power unless they can discredit the war effort. What a shiatty side of the argument to be forced to take. Basically they have to successfully undermine the security of the country to achieve their goals. Good luck with that one.

Since when does "elite" mean "surplus"?

No the President of the United States is not a tyrant.

I'd love to see the survey.

Please fill in only one box per question.
1. You love the American liberators and feel this is the best that Iraq has ever had it ____ ; You loved Saddam Hussein and you are upset that he is gone ____

The reason the left won't gain power is because too many... "intelligent individuals" believe that statement.

Wal-Mart should buy Iraq.

2005-01-19 12:29:14 PM
Psst...it's not just "liberals," "the media," or "elites" who are raising serious concerns about Iraq.

We don't know how this "liberation" is going to end up in the final analysis. My fondest wish is to be 100% wrong about what I see as the most likely outcomes.

Nope. Not a tyrant. He may be an egotistic, bullheaded assmunching dunderfark with a penchant for douchebaggery, but a tyrant he is not.

Oddly, those aren't diametrically opposed, and there are other options people might like better...

voxriot: Sez you buddy.

Look up "tyrant" sez me, buddy.

A tyrant is one who assumes power over a position that he/she was not given legally. For instance, if George W. Bush did not win the electoral vote and then assumed office anyway, he would be a tyrant. However, if you weren't a moonbat (and this, my friend, is why we call you moonbats) you'd remember that George W. Bush did win the electoral vote.

I get a serious kick over those that thought this war would be over in a year, and things would be peachy soon after that.

Now that the concept "reality of war" is kicking in and so are some peoples true colors.

2005-01-19 12:31:10 PM
Colgate - I couldn't agree more. Everything you said is true. Frankly, I agree that her blog is unmitigated tripe, but the bias of the author in this case cannot be ignored. You have to admit that.

2005-01-19 12:31:30 PM
This just goes to show you: even the most obvious troll headlines can be greenlighted.

Which is great, because then I can say Bush is teh suck.

I will sit back and be amused while things go South and the Republicans look for someone to blame, even though they now rule the world.

Give him a chance, he has 4 years to go and he hasn't had time to eradicate all the civil liberties laws that prevent him from becoming one yet.

I tend to disagree with A Midnight Bout on a few things, but he is most definitely literally correct when saying that Bush is not a tyrant.

Hope Hubris surrenders.

Wal-Mart should buy Iraq.

I think they did, and there are talks of a Tehran Walmart. And as we all know, the only way to stop Walmart is to destroy the heart...

Sorry, boys, I can't go on. 3 copies of Mad Max on DVD for 15.00, can't resist.

People who have lived under real dictatorships wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry at the things we pampered Americans think of as "tyranny". Some perspective might be in order.

That's slightly flawed since you're assuming that the Iraqis picked the government they had before invasion ...

It's funny how, when Clinton was in charge, raising questions about the administration and it's policies was "hard hitting journalism", but now that Bush is in, it's "LIBERAL MEDIA BIAS!"

Our media SHOULD be asking difficult questions, and they SHOULDN'T be taking anything at face value, no matter whether your guy is in charge or not.

2005-01-19 12:46:37 PM
Now where in the hell did I leave that, "AWWW GEEEZZZZZZZ, NOT THIS shiat AGAIN" jpg.

2005-01-19 12:46:57 PM
Wow, guess what: an invasion by a Western country wasn't on the wish list of most Iraqis. Big surprise there. I'm sure some Iraqis believe in the new American government experiment, but it takes a 3rd grade education to read the polls and realize most of them are pretty pissed.

I mean, if the Iraqis invaded the U.S., I'm sure some percentage of Americans would think it was awesome. And then the Iraqi Rush Al-Limbaugh would sneer, sarcastically, "I guess you can only be a genuine American if you hate the invasion of L.A. by Iraqis," and like dig up Richard Gere or someone as an example of someone who loved it.

2005-01-19 12:46:59 PM

Who is this "Saddam" character? I know I have heard his name before....

2005-01-19 12:48:51 PM
I just think it's ironic that in Classical Greek, the originators of the theory of democracy, a tyrant was a good title to have.

Reporter: Is this what you expected when the liberation effort began?
Iraqi: Well, yes, I guess, I expected some strife.
Reporter: Have you ever experienced Democracy before.
Iraqi: No, no I haven't.
Reporter: So you might find yourself asking if this is really Democracy then, correct?
Iraqi: Yes, I guess that's correct.

"After yesterdays suicide bombings where 7 civilians were killed report John Smith interviewed several Iraqi citizens in the area. On such citizen reportedly said, "So is this what Democracy will do for Iraq citizens?"
