Christ, $21,000 and the best they could come up with was "COSMIX?" Look, here's a better name for you:

"Colorado Springs Highway Improvement Project"

I'll even give it to you for more'n half off. How's $10,000 sound?

So that's what the new tax on cigarettes is being used for...

I could have suggested they name it "Bob" and I wouldn't have even charged 'em for it.

How about "This Thread is Boring, But the Girl in the SBB Ad On the Left Has Huge Bazongas?"
I had to be the first to be a biatchy whiner about how a thread or article is so boring, yet I'm still spending time commenting on it.

I hereby rename the project to "The Alan Parson Project."

This makes me think of cute Japanese chicks dressed as Rikku and Zelda rubbing elbows with loser American guys dressed as Bowser and Blanka.

I am so proud to be from the Springs today. And JBallsCSU, good point. In fact, my husband and I both quit last week in protest of the new tax. So happy the money is being spent wisely.

Who authorizes this crap? What possible justification could they have for spending this amount of money on naming a construction project? Why can't I find someone to love me?

I did an internship for PRACO at the Colorado State Fair. Apparently, naming road projects is their specialty. They also named Glenwood Canyon's, but I don't recall what it was called.

In Colorado Springs I'm surprised they didn't just call it Praise Christ the King Highway Improvement Project and give the money to Focus on the Family.

it's good work if you can get it...

I too am from the Springs, and holy hell is this dissappointing...let the local high school kids have a shot and throw up a $100 dollar "prize" and I guarentee you the kids will do better then the "professionals"

They should have just had a caption contest on Fark and given the winner a year of TotalFark.

I'm from the Springs also (but only until March... thank the Lord [James Dobson]) and I'm surprised the Gazette bothered to do the footwork required to write a real story.

Sallie Clark did mention a Monorail though...

"His firm, PRACO, narrowed down more than 100 possible names to come up with the winner."

I wouldn't exactly say it's a winner, Bob.

"PRACO pukes COSMIX" Now there's a headline.

they should've just gone with gruntmeister 2000.

I watched the COSMIX I-25 widening thing on TV last night...$150 million bucks and it's gonna take like 3 years to complete the 13 mile stretch of highway. I thought I'd be happy when they finally widened the road but OMFG- 3 years!! I promise I won't be in the Springs in 3 years to enjoy the fruits of my taxpayer dollars--good thing they named it so I don't feel so bad (sarcasm??). And I honestly didn't think traffic could get any worse....I guess I'll be taking an alternate route to work in the mornings. Stupid Colorado Springs.

Good observation, all_out_of_gum. You are witty and quite astute for pointing that out. Thanks for adding some spice to this otherwise slow thread.

Boston's transit authority, the MBTA, spent $29,000 to come up with the name for their new automated fair-collection system: the "Charlie Card."
