And so they came to be gypped.

The findings support the theory that the ancients were just as prone to mischief and mistakes as we are today.

Well, they were human, weren't they? Not exactly a profound insight, there.

2005-01-19 10:59:38 AM
anyone else think of that scene from Gallipoli?

2005-01-19 02:35:38 PM
Not on topic, but is it just me, or are the Sports by Brooks girls' breasts getting progressively larger?

I for one welcome our new cat Pharaohs!

Well if you're in the market for dead pussy, it's really a caveat emptor kind of thing to begin with, isn't it?

/proud 8th grade civics graduate who remembers "caveat emptor"

Ancient Egypt didn't have enough dead kitties?

Somebody should have invented Ra-Y Jelly.

2005-01-19 02:42:27 PM
Wait, what's a 'fake mummified cat'? Does that mean it wasn't really a cat, or that it wasn't really mummified? What a scam...

"Dangit, I told you to keep still! They gonna catch onto us if you keep moving!"

2005-01-19 02:42:28 PM
Of course, I only accept real dead kittens.

Lots of 'em.

2005-01-19 02:42:51 PM

Oooooo. Bad cut and paste.

Here's the proper post:

Maybe they were selling them as souvenirs. They must have had tourists back then. I can't believe that suckers have only been born every minute since 1918.

2005-01-19 02:47:23 PM
Everytime you fake an orgasm, God creates a fake mummycat.

2005-01-19 02:47:47 PM

The real "pussy".

2005-01-19 02:48:33 PM
Let me guess.

They were made in China, right? They should've turned the little mummycats over to look for the sticker.

2005-01-19 02:48:36 PM
your dog wants a real mummification.

2005-01-19 02:48:56 PM

Accept no cheap imitations.

Perhaps the greatest mystery being unraveled concerns "Mag Girl," a 13,000- to 15,000- year-old mummy excavated in the Dordogne Valley of southwestern France.

Now I feel bad about all the mummified pussy jokes.

You'd think scientist could check the authenticity of these mummies with a CAT scan or something?

2005-01-19 03:20:54 PM
Scotty, you are indeed, on fire.

Congrats.

2005-01-19 03:33:28 PM
I'm glad to see that current sales of fake mummified cats in Egypt is a tradition.

2005-01-19 03:59:58 PM
Wow, this is old news.

Sersiously. I knew this years ago.

2005-01-19 04:29:13 PM
Maybe I'm like, an Egyptology student, and stuff, but this is totally old news. Egyptologists have known this for ages and ages and ages. Victorians used to have mummy unwrapping parties to discover what was inside the bandages, and at least since there have been CT scans mummies have been x-rayed -- that takes us back to the 1960s.

2005-01-19 05:00:12 PM
Ankhaf I was just thinking of this myself. With the Hitler thread we almost have a "things you would know if you watched nothing but the History Channel" trifecta.

2005-01-19 05:09:33 PM
I had a science teacher that used... unsual hall passes.

He had a Mummified cat, Fetal pig in a jar, and a mummified ape hand.

How much would you pay for a fake cat-mummy ?

/assuming one were commercially available..
/on E-Bay..
/For Sale..
/Cash..

Yeah. I saw that on the Discovery Channel a couple of years ago and it just goes to prove that corruption can happen in any major religion so long as there is money to be made. Like, all those religious article sellers that clog up the areas around the famous sites in Europe where people have purported to have seen vision of the Holy Mother or in those mineral springs that are supposed to cure ills.

There's a religious store in town where they sell bunches of tracts -- including Chick Tracts and I went in there once and noticed that they were reaping a pretty good profit for the cheaply made little booklets along with other religious articles. Bibles, which used to be real cheap, can often be found rather expensive in various book stores.

If there is a way to cheat the public, someone will do it.
