This sort of screams, "Give me publicity! I'm still around!" Doesn't it? I love that people are so pissed at the survivors making money off the 9/11 thing, but that they'll give thumbs-up for a farking movie.

Flight 93 was shot down.

That is all.

2002-03-08 10:51:04 AM
Who is playing the F16 pilot?

2002-03-08 10:51:09 AM
I really like Goldie Hawn, but this aint right.

My god...how is she still alive? She should've been dead by now. Or at least killed. Wow, I have a deep rooted hatred for this creature...

she is still a babe

am I going to hell?

Why is it that we as a country of uncensored freedom feel we have the right to make a sensationalist event out of every catastrophe?! I am sure that the families of these poor victims will just love to sit around and be reminded of their personal tragedy while munching on some popcorn and soda. Give it a rest already and leave these people be!

Rumor has it...

Goldie and Kate have 3-ways with various men...

Never mind Goldie's new movie, what about the link on that page to Astrid Lindgren's funeral? Was her death memorialized on Fark back in January? It is [SAD] to see a great surrealist pass on.

"Goldie Hawn has partnered with basic-cable network F/X to develop a movie about the passengers of United Flight 93..."

So she's developing it, not starring in it...not that it makes much of a difference...

BrotherLove: I actually did submit a link about the death of Astrid Lindgren, but it did not get posted.

Note that the Guberment hasn't released the blackbox voice recordings of Flight 93 yet, despite the fact that both recorders were recovered intact within days of the crash.

Now, it may be out of respect for the dead, but if there really were clear signs of heroic struggle in the cockpit, don't you think they'd have released it by now?

I mean, all we *really* know is that some guy ended a phone conversation with the phrase 'let's roll', and then the plane crashed. Everything else is pure supposition. So it would be Just Plain Wrong to make up a TV movie about this.

All aboard!!! It's the train that's headed to Capitalize city, where everyone gets a buck off someone else's sorrow and tragedy. Now boarding, producers, actors and TV executives.
It's nice to remember those who have passed, but why make it harder on the victims families by showing it all over TV and movies. I guess it's just human nature to be curious about how others exist and survive...

More tasteless, stupid shiat from the house that Murdoch built.

Golden Hawn in a made-for-TV movie? You bet your sweet bippie! Dateline, Hollywood USA -- saggy-assed former Laugh-In ditz Goldie Hawn just inked a sweet deal to play a soon-to-be charbroiled flight attendant in "Pardon My Jihad: The Flight 93 Story."

Hawn, 73, will be filmed through Vaseline-glazed lenses to prevent the sight of her shoelace-like breasts from causing milk to curdle, horses to stampede and humans to become sterile. "Haw haw haw haw haw!" giggled the now bizarre looking septugenarian harridan, today best known for mouth-milking aging Disney freak Kurt Russell.

"Pardon my Jihad will shortly join the pantheon of Fox TV triumphs," according to wizened former Johnny Holmes fluffer Rupert Murdoch. "We expect viewership to exceed even the numbers posted for the finale of Temptation Island III: Slattern Suck-A-Thon in Paradise."

But not all critics are sanguine about the prospects of a Hawne-driven project. "That old cum dupmster still around" an incredulous Michael Medved exclaimed. "Jesus!"

Pardon My Jihad airs on Fox this Sunday at 6PM. Check your local listings for anything else to watch instead.

It's stupid because it's exploitative, it's on basic-farking-cable, and that hag among hags, Goldie Hawn, will be in it. At least we're almost certain her character will die.

2002-03-08 12:16:15 PM
Thats the most asinine thing i have heard all week, hold a memorial or candle vigil, dont commercialize it, thats sick

2002-03-08 12:19:09 PM
carrion: hahahahahahahaha!!! great one

2002-03-08 01:10:39 PM
I give up. The world is just too stupid now.

Let's Roll! out the red carpet for Goldie. May the Christian God Bless America, but may all the other gods suffer and burn in Christian hell!

VERCINGETORIX....

"I THOUGHT THEY WERE ALL TERRORIST"

2002-03-08 01:49:46 PM
And yet, we all appreciated the movie "Gladiator" which contained many brutal and tragic scenes, which were only somewhat based on reality, but were close enough to be considered "blasphemus" by the above standard(Commitus really being killed by a gladiator in the arena, being a real person as were several other charectors and so on).

Of course its okay NOW because it happened thousands of years ago...so theory is after a few thousand years it will be perfectly okay for Hollywood to make up what could have happened on flight 93, and there will be oscars doled out all around. For now, its scandelous and demoralizing.

"Fascinating" said Dr. Archibald, the asparagus.

2002-03-08 01:53:49 PM
Llarken: There aren't still families and friends grieving over the deaths of innocent gladiators, that would make the exploitation of those deaths abhorrent. Big difference. You're right. Wait a thousand years. Then we won't be subjected to a trite tear-jerking crap-fest like "The Perfect Storm."

2002-03-08 02:08:32 PM
Llarkin -- what's your point? OF COURSE it's okay to make fun of stuff waaaaaay after the fact. Non-issue.

2002-03-08 02:18:02 PM
Naderbot Wow... Perfect analogy!
The Perfect Storm - "Since no one survived, this is 3 hours of crap movie of what we *think* might have happened"

They'll do the same thing here... the only items true to the story will be... people got on the plane. Let's Roll(tm) phone call made. and then it crashed. With of course muffled blackbox recordings of "What are you doing? get back into your seat before I slap you with some beef jerky!"

I'm all for memorializing the innocent victims of 9/11, but Hollywood, please stay out of it.

2002-03-08 02:31:35 PM

Goldie Hawn would star as the impossibly glamorous wife of that Beamer ("Let's Roll!") guy. They would be shown in impossibly happy wedded bliss in an impossibly expensive house with perfectly unattainable material items strategically placed for advertising value.

Since we already know the fate of the passengers, (this is worse that Titanic as some people DID survive that), any other items like plot, character development or good taste would be discarded.

The thought of a 3-some with Goldie and Kate does sound appealing. (Maybe they should put that in the movie!!!

I know people who lost friends and family off the coast of Gloucester. They were way cheesed off at that special-effect bonanza disguised as heartfelt memorial.

When this lastest cannon in the re-elect Bush arsenal comes out of the gate, we need to have a Flight 93 Movie drinking game.

Every time one of those "If you do drugs you're a terrorist" commercials comes on, you must drink.

It's going to get sloppy, folks.

2002-03-08 02:53:38 PM
I didn't necessarily have a point. I was making a comment on the dimming effect of tragedies and the the point at which tradgedy turns into art. There are enough musings on fark that aren't going anywhere that you should be used to this by now.

I'm not for or against the movie being made. I won't watch it if they do make it, and remind everyone they have a right to boycott as well. *shrug*

2002-03-08 02:54:52 PM
Oh, and its L-L-A-R-K-E-N, not Llarkin. As in Lady Larken, dumbass.

2002-03-08 03:03:13 PM
Llarken:

I got your veggie-tales reference. Archibald, the asparagus
is great!!

2002-03-08 06:35:05 PM
Ugh. Poor taste.

2002-03-08 11:29:57 PM
