This is one more benefiot of gun control in Canada.

It forces crooks to get a little more creative with their weaponry.

" Once inside, the suspect held the sword to a 17-year-old manager's throat while ordering the other staffers -- two of them 17-year-olds, the other a 31-year-old -- to lie on the floor."

Jeebus, already a manager at 17 ? At this rate, they'll eventually allow him to operate the Fryolator !

Heh. Punks. Those windows aren't very big, and so it wasn't like an eyeblink before he got in. He shoulda caught some fryer grease or something, unless they just let him rob the place.

i always wonder if all these samurai sword stories are true. but not in the sense that it happened - more in the sense of, was it actually a samurai sword? or were the ineffectual local reporters just so clueless that they went, "Whoa! Samurai sword - that's like, alliteration or something!" and it's really some other kind of sword. How can it be that so many people independently choose a samurai sword from their doubtlessly large collection or edged weapons? i guess i just wonder why nobody uses a broadsword anymore.

6 blocks from my parents new place.
Ugh, that end of the city sucks.
I feel safer in my central area which is supposed to be "bad".

/17 year old manager?!?

The fact that it happened in Winnipeg is not surprising...it's minus forty-farking-five up here, you gotta find something to do!!

I'm pretty good with a bow staff... so you better get my order right too.

Discussing yesterday's holdup, Glover said: "We have seen other incidents where swords were used, but this one was certainly unique in that a sword and a pipe were used..."

What would have made it even more unique would be if he had used a sword, a pipe, AND a 3 foot length of twine. Now that woulda been unique as hell.

2005-01-17 01:26:07 PM
Perhaps they suggested bringing out the gimp

"but this one was certainly unique in that a sword and a pipe were used by a suspect who still managed to crawl through a drive-through window."

Apparently the robber DID NOT EAT at McDonalds.

/Just my observation.

CK07,

Because broadswords are unwieldy and difficult to use. "Samurai swords" (Katanas and the like) are shorter, easier to use with one hand, and it's easy to slit the throat of any insubordinate fry cook.

2005-01-17 01:37:28 PM
See, this is why we need a Ninja Burger tag.

That's scary; It's a really good neighborhood.

I own several swords, does that mean I'm compensating for having several penises?
