Wasn't Hardware Wars an alternate title for Army of Darkness as well? I could've sworn I heard that somewhere...

2002-03-06 09:41:40 PM
YES!!!!
They used to show this all the time when I was in Elementary school! I remember every friday we would all file in the auditorium for film hour and we'd hope they would be showing it again.
Ahhh.. nostalgia :)

"I can't understand what you're saying! Are you talking to me?"

Ernie Fosselius, I believe, was the name of the guy who put this together. He landed a small role in the production crew of Jedi.

The important question is if it is better than spaceballs....

Dark Helmet: Who made that man a gunner?

Major: I did sir. He's my cousin.

Dark Helmet: Who is he?

Colonel Sandurz: He's an asshole sir.

Dark Helmet: I know that. What's his name?

Colonel Sandurz: That is his name sir. Asshole major Asshole.
Dark Helmet: And his cousin?

Colonel Sandurz: He's an asshole too sir. Gunner mate, first class Philip Asshole.

Dark Helmet: How many assholes do we have on this ship?
Everybody: YO!

Dark Helmet: I knew it. I'm surrounded by assholes.Keep firing assholes.

bwwaaahahahahaha only the airplane movies can do better than that......

I guess hardware wars was a big kid pleaser becuase they use to show it at my school too.

I still remember when they started sex ed and they showed a video about some girl getting her period. She was at the dinner table and starts yelling "I GOT IT, I GOT IT" as she runs to the bathroom and her little brother says to their father "what did she get dad?" to which he responds in a 50's television announcer voice "She got her period son". Absolutely the funniest shiat I've ever seen. Anyone else remember this movie from school?

2002-03-06 09:59:26 PM
I LOVE this film... especially closet cases of the nerd kind and porklips now...

"I was getting close now. so close... you could feel the closeness."

"hmmm, this means something"

B0rg9 - I think it was Chinchilla the wookie monster...

my fav part was when they were flying, and Chinchilla started munching on Princess Androids hair buns... awesome.

2002-03-06 10:10:49 PM
Yes, but is it the Hardware Wars Special Edition?

(there really is one)

2002-03-06 10:15:32 PM
i bet they stil charge 20 bucks cause its on DVD.. and they cost less to manufacture.. yet still cost more than VHS because of the outrageous cost of authoring tools and encoding liscenses. Doom9 for all you DVD 'backup' needs! DOWN WITH MPAA!! ARRGGUE! *choke* *spittle*

2002-03-06 10:15:33 PM

Hardware Wars is the BEST spoof of Star Wars IMO.

2002-03-06 11:12:01 PM
Best. Spoof. Ever. TADA. I did it first! The token "comic guy" reference!

I haven't seen Hardware Wars :( But from the many, many spoofs of Star Wars I've seen, I must concur with a few others here - Thumb Wars reigns king.

2002-03-06 11:20:05 PM
Long overdue. They actually played this thing before showing the bonafide film back in the day. I am there. Bring it!

2002-03-06 11:35:13 PM
"you'll laugh you'll cry you'll kiss three bucks goodbye...see hardware wars"

2002-03-07 12:14:02 AM
We recomended it to friend of ours as a rent, but they bought it thinking it was full length like Spaceballs, they were disappointed, but hey i got a free copy.

"Don't blow up planet basketball, it's a peaceful planet."

"Relax, kid. It's only a movie."

Hardware Wars: The Special Edition

2002-03-07 04:33:27 AM
Damn this thing is a classic but its only a short. I gotta buy a DVD? Doesn't anyone have a link to the mpeg or something?

2002-03-07 07:57:39 AM
It's bad in a very BAD way. Don't buy it.

2002-03-07 07:58:24 AM
Cool, Hardware Wars is frickin' hilarious!

2002-03-07 09:39:11 AM
define "classic"

2002-03-07 09:39:31 AM
I mean, come on, it is not Spaceballs

2002-03-07 10:17:13 AM
Hardware Wars is the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen. I saw reviews for it on Amazon and spent eight bucks for it that I'll never get back. When I took it out of my VCR I didn't even rewind it because I knew I'd never watch it again. Don't waste your money on this crap.

2002-03-07 01:13:26 PM
Hardware Wars was great stuff. The VHS version I saw had several other good spoofs on it, including Bambi Meets Godzilla and a version of Apocalypse Now (the guys are driving a convertable down a straight city street). Memories...
