yes, but sometimes it's just too much fun to laugh at other countries' cultures

This is true, but I have a blended family and we can all either laugh together or fight about it. I have a sister in law that is Italian, German nephew, a brother in-law that is a red neck good ole boy. and a wife that is Russian. My wife is still learning the art of dealing with things that she doesnt understand and asking questions about them instead of just saying "that is stupid" because it isnt the way it is done in Russia. If you want to laugh, laugh but learn at the same time try to understand even if it isnt the way you live or will live. I myself like to learn new things and I am learing on a daily basis

Well you did bless the lonely, basement dwelling Farkers.

On an unrelated note, with three children of my own and the oldest won't be 13 until next month, what is you grocery bill like? My 12 year old has started eating like 5-6 times a day.

Oy Vey! I just thought of your car insurance bill too!

Kompressor CRUSH inferior American crocodile and install mighty German crocodile!

2005-01-11 10:50:29 AM
yeah I know the feeling, when I get one that is a good joke I don't like to let go either. Don't talk about the job much. We are planning a trip to germany this summer she has a friend in frankfurt she wants to go see. I am looking forward to it. That is one place I haven't been

yaz Syphis dont get your hopes up, Frankfurt os laaaaaame, mostly Banks there, not much to look at. However, I am sure you can go clubbing fairly well and maybe go check out the countryside...

Perhaps someone has a link to a zip file of the mp3?

It appears that my company's firewall blocks all "*.mp3" links.

Furchtet euch das Kompressorkrokodil! :-D

I can't stop listening to this stupid song. I've half-memorized the lyrics already. The only part that I don't really like is the adult voice at the end, "Schnapp! Ja! Mmm!"

So the single flew... when's the album due out? Plus, I demand a Rammstein remix.

2005-01-11 10:54:19 AM
Ah Frankfurt. The first time I ever saw people shooting up drugs in broad daylight (in the gutter) was in Frankfurt. What great memories.

LoveinAction, wasn't Mozart Australian?

No, but he was BIG Down Under!

/ps... Austria counts as "German Culture"

On an unrelated note, with three children of my own and the oldest won't be 13 until next month, what is you grocery bill like? My 12 year old has started eating like 5-6 times a day.

My girl has been reasonable, but the boys eat like they got two assholes!

Oy Vey! I just thought of your car insurance bill too!
/Crying about my destitute future.

Take my advice... keep looking until you can find a reasonable car for around $2000, and make the kid pay half. AVOID the temptation to just shell out $5K or $6K in order to be done with it.

Also make him/her cover their own insurance... if you keep them on your policy, it's still reasonable.

Good post,.....Bravo !

A lot of good news doesn't get posted for that reason. Farkers are being deprived.

2005-01-11 10:58:02 AM
Yes, Austria is in fact considered german, since we get the blame for the whole Hitler thing, who was austrian, we want the cred for Mozart too...give some take some, fairs fair

2005-01-11 10:58:32 AM
Well, I am not sure where the friend is actually I do know that is where we will fly in. And I do like getting out and seeing other cultures and how people in other countries live. Actually not much if any difference from here. But that 12 hour train trip in Russia to go 600k was a bit new something that we take for granted that we just get in a car and drive in a few hours

" You can name a German composer, artist, beverage, food, clothing item, and celebrity without even trying"

Yeah, yeah, yeah.... but how about the American list:

Barry Manilow, The guy that did the "PissChrist" piece, New-Coke, Big Mac, Low-rider jeans, Vanilla Ice.

Oh come on... You can pick crappy stuff out of almost any culture. How about this as an improved list:

Composer: Raymond Scott. Pure genius.
Artist: (I'm not a big visual art aficionado, but how about) Jackson Pollock
Drink: Rum is pretty "new world", isnt it? If not, how about old Coke?
Food: Barbecue, Tex-Mex
Clothing: Levis
Celebrity: Too many to name

Oh the humanity.

Never having heard of "Schnappi", I just checked the current German charts to see what else I "missed". Now I'm deep inside my comfort blanket, sucking my thumb.

Pop Idol spin-offs, German hiphop, boy bands and novelty hits... I'll deeply recommend downloading all those songs to anyone who wants to reinforce either masochism or jingoism.

Especially chart position no. 30. In the charts for about a frickin' year.

Not only that but the horrible oppression of blacks in the south gave rise to black folk music and the blues which gave rise to rock and eventually metal

Which, somehow, also gave rise to Limp Bizkit...so, on behalf of the Black race, I think we gotcha back! Nyah! :-P
(Never been trolling before...kinda like gigging, ain't it?)

2) If you have not heard it DO NOT LISTEN!!! IT WILL BE STUCK IN YOUR HEAD FOR HOURS! Trust me!

You of course meant Bourbon. Woodford Reserve is the premier Bourbon produced in the US. Jack Daniels Single Barrel is a not-so-close second.

But Patrick767, thats POP culture, not the REAl culture we all talk about, the culture we all cherish, such as paintings, buildings, music, literature and poetry older then the country you live in

That's because almost everybody in this country is from somewhere else. We have tons of culture, it just happens to be adopted and adapted.

2005-01-11 11:06:34 AM
Yes mhd you got us there, Die Randfichten is another one of those Volksmusik pieces that leaked into popculture.

Right on the Pop Idol spin-off as well, only its like the 5th or so. Five farking Pop Idol bands (here its called 'Deutschland sucht den Superstar (Germany searches for the Superstar) or Popstar) and still no end in sight...actually, ratings are at an all time low so I think the TV Stations will stop doing these castingshows now, thank god.

I love Frankfurt.

After traveling from other parts of Germany on the ICE Train at over 200 miles per hour, arrive at the Frankfurt Haupthbahnhof (main train station) and simply walk across the street into the red light district and have yourself a blowjob.

Thanks for the advice on cars and insurance.

As for the groceries, my 12 year old IS the girl, and 5 ft 8 inches and still growing. My wife is 5 ft 11 inches and her father is 6 ft 4 inches. Me, 6 ft 1 inch. The 8 year old is starting to want to eat off the adult menu AND finishing all of it.

/Wonder if a charity web site for our grocery bill would work.

Honestly, As a musician, I thought is was kindof catchy and cute. Not number 1 material, but not bad. We could have a new star on our hands.

God bless 'em all, they grow up so quickly... the other day my oldest son had just finished a heapin' helpin' o' pancakes and eggs and decided he was still hungry, so he reached for one of those individual sized boxes of cereal and a bowl.

As he was tearing the top of the box off with his teeth, the younger boy (comedian of the family) remarked: "Geez, you're not supposed to eat the box too!"

The tune actually sounds a lot like Carl Orff's Gassenhauer ("street song") from his Music For Children era.

I give a lot of credit to the kid who sings this song. Even though she's only four, she gets all the words right (and some of them can't be very easy for a four-year-old), she keeps the beat, she actually manages to carry the tune (after a fashion), and she doesn't get bored and walk away after the second chorus. Keep your eyes on this little Wunderkind, Germany. In 15-20 years she could be the next Nena.

you americans are funny ... our europeans countries are 2000 years old or more, and hell we made your country too!!
so there is NO american culture! because every americans (not if 100% native) are in fact from european roots ... so talk away ... you're originaly european. even if you don't like it (and there are 7 different arts btw ... so if you try to compare the americans ones with the europeans ... please don't even think about trying)

It gets annoying pretty fast. As the song began, I thought it was cute and charming. By the time it finished, I wanted to bash the girl's head in with the frigging croc.

2005-01-11 11:50:56 AM
awesome...i wish that song was #1 in the US. it's much better than hearing destiny's child or snoop dogg saying "drop it like it's hot" 1000 times.

Fast_Deluxe...uh, the only european roots that i have are that your people stole my father's people and forced them into slavery.

1/2 asian + 1/2 black != european

although, they do say asians are the "white minority"

hmmmmmmm................

Well, when a white man-child with downs attempts to rap, Limp Bizkit is the result.

I'm fairly sure the Brits don't consider themselves Europeans. Not only that but I'm of Irish descent, my ancestors were some of the most farked with people in Europe so to hell with y'all I say.
