They had that song on Bob and Tom yesterday.
It cracked me up.

There are probably not a lot of crocodiles in Germany though.

It's worse than you could ever imagine. I just got back from Germany. The song in omnipresent. If you turn on the TV, there's a better than 50% chance you'll see this uncute, uncoordinated little girl lip-synching the song with a Barney-like crocodile dancing around her.

Sure, Germans have a bunch of old buildings to look at, but they have absolutely no culture.

This just goes to prove what I've always said:

Germans love little girls.

First of all, we do NOT listen to David Hasselhoff anymore, he had just ONE damn hit here AGES ago. Why can't you get over it, pleeeeaaaase!!
Just so you know, currently its Adam Green who is more succesfull in germany then he is in the states, so there.

And, well, yes, the part about the crocodile song is true, I even heard it, saw it on TV even, and, well, I hang my head in shame...sorry world.

2005-01-11 08:18:56 AM
I could see its newsworthiness if she'd been singing "Adolf the Cranky Jew Mincer", but I mean...

Contain_MrX beat me to it. I like the song actually. Will only listen once.

That is the most god-awful crap I've ever had the displeasure of listening to.

I see Sarah Connor's alive and well in Germany. Skynet will be pleased

The Germans have unusual tastes in music, and will sometimes go nutso for a novelty hit. Case in point is the 2000 hit "Maschendrahtzaun" which is a song by Stefan Raab a television comedian that extensively uses a sample of a woman with an odd German accent saying "Maschendrahtzaun" (chain link fence) from an appearance on the German People's Court. Went straigt to #1, and the Germans went crazy for it. Do a file sharing search for Stefan Raab and I'm sure you could find it.

If I had to choose between listening to this song 40 times in a row, or listening to our Top 40 once all the way through....I'll take the German croc song.

Germans have a culture. You may have trouble identifying it now that the Western Hemisphere has become one giant McDonalds/CocaCola/BritneySpears mass of commercialism but it's there.

The have traditional foods, songs, and dress. They have identifiable arts and porn(Shiess).

You can name a German composer, artist, beverage, food, clothing item, and celebrity without even trying

2005-01-11 08:24:04 AM
Ok, I just checked the charts and they are pretty awful I must admit, not one song on there to be mildly pleased with, so I'll just drop my argument - but still: let the Hasselhoff thing die!

2005-01-11 08:24:33 AM
There are probably not a lot of crocodiles in Germany though.

If you could understand a second language, you'd know that snappy is from Egypt.

Didn't the French beat'em to it some crumb-muncher rapping "Dur d'etre Bebe" a few years back?

A culture that produced Debbie Boone's "You light up my life" really shouldn't throw stones.

Well, it's better than a Hasselhoff song anyway. :P

Maybe he speaks 10 languages, and decided German wasn't worth the effort.

Oh wow.... could you imagine the shame this girl is going to feel later in life?

2005-01-11 08:30:05 AM
Wow. Having gone to the site and downloaded the various versions...wow. That song will be stuck in my head for weeks. Damned catchy, it is.

Sarah Connor is also married to Mark Terenzi, from the boygroup Natural, they have a son together, barely a year old now but some day he will lead the war against the machines...

Because I have too much time on my hands, I ran the lyrics (available at http://213.158.118.36/schnappi) through freetranslations.com - reads a little like a Mad Lib and contains several interesting instances of the word "snatch."

I am come lies first lay snowed snatched myself Schnappi the little crocodile out of Egypt, that directly at
the Nile I in an egg then schna I free

Ref: schna schnappi schnappi schnappi snowed snapped snowed snapped schna schnappi schnappi schnappi

I am have Schnappi the little crocodile sharp teeth and therefrom very prettily much I snapped what I snatch
can yes snapped myself to because I can that so well

Ref.

I am snatch is slink myself Schnappi the little crocodile I gladly that my favorite game I at the mama ran and
show snatch can its how I

Ref.

I am not Schnappi the little crocodile and of that snatch there get I too much I bite the Papi shortly into
the leg

And then then I sleep simply a Ref.

MalcolmXI - NO CULTURE? You've got to be shiatting me!
This is the nation that spawned the likes of Beethoven and Brahms, Schiller and Goethe. The place is bursting at the seams with culture, unlike a certain North American country I could name.

2005-01-11 08:33:16 AM
I didn't know they could teach German to children that young!

2005-01-11 08:33:50 AM
Sure, Germans have a bunch of old buildings to look at, but they have absolutely no culture.

Scan your AM radio dial any Sunday morning in Wisconsin or Minnesota and you'll definately be proved wrong.

We Germans are efficient. We got through a Thousand Year Reich in just a decade!

"disturbing," even.

Dammit. No more posts before coffee.

North Americans sure don't beat number one hits into the ground by overplaying them. Naw, not us.

2005-01-11 08:41:26 AM
Nobody under twelve years old should be allowed in a recording studio.

On a different matter, there's a popular club song, which I don't know the name of and thought was from the US, and it has lyrics that sound like "eat my puss." I was disappointed to find out that it's actually German, and means something entirely different. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

BINGO! I have to put up with crappy Top40 music played on our PA system here at work all the time. I'm thinking of cueing up all croc mixes and loop them thru my tinny PC speakers to drown out the crap.

2005-01-11 08:46:55 AM
i had the pleasure of being in deutschland when "mambo number 5" first came out there (which was before the US)... so after stabbing myself with a pencil in my head in germany, i have to come back and listen to it in the US.

/also the ENTIRE flight over there and back was all
"livin la vida loca"
