Hot Ass Cat in my Hat

2002-03-06 04:33:19 PM
was Jim Carrey busy?
I guess no other American actor was worthy of the part

2002-03-06 04:33:19 PM
I thought they were going to get Tim Allen to do that

2002-03-06 04:38:49 PM
Is this what they renamed Austin Powers 3? Now I suppose we'll get Pussy Galore in the leading lady role...

2002-03-06 04:39:47 PM
I thought they were going to get Brando.

2002-03-06 04:39:51 PM
The question you should all be asking yourselves:

Who's going to play Thing 1 and Thing 2?

2002-03-06 04:39:51 PM
I work for high-end toy company that just obtained the sole license for Seuss plush products.

Therefore, for me, it may not be original, but it surely spells "job security."

"Hollywood is out of ideas"

This is news????

2002-03-06 04:41:38 PM
while they are at it, why wont they give EvilDead4, a greenlight and make us all happy

OBB
2002-03-06 04:41:39 PM
They likened the Cat to Bluto from Animal House... [OBB hangs his head and shakes it slowly] If Belushi were alive right now, he'd die again after hearing that.

2002-03-06 04:41:42 PM
VOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

I posted that in the headline, but I guess it was deemed as too obscure.

2002-03-06 04:41:42 PM
I'd rather see this than a movie about Deiter and his monkey.

ahh who cares, I'm waiting for Shrek II - The Revenge

2002-03-06 04:41:48 PM
Kill me. Kill me now.

2002-03-06 04:42:07 PM
I seriously thought that said "Mike Tyson" Must..stop...smoking...crack

Apparently Farkers are out of ideas too, since they keep recycling the whole, "Hollywood out of ideas" thing. France Surrenders was much, much better in my opinion.

2002-03-06 04:42:52 PM
I don't know what's worse: Cat in the Hat, or Santa Clause 2

Eli
2002-03-06 04:43:02 PM
Gwinny- Does that mean you are to blame for the boring headline?

2002-03-06 04:43:42 PM
Yeah, this will wind up being exactly like all the other Cat in the Hat movies.

2002-03-06 04:43:50 PM
........Why not just give us a drug that fools us into thinking we're seeing a new movie..?

2002-03-06 04:44:04 PM
Corvidae: either A) the Barbi Twins or b) Sherman Helmsley and Burt Ward

2002-03-06 04:44:49 PM
I think this has potential to be decent... I can see Mike Myers making this funny.... I just dunno how they're gonna do it...

Dr Seuss's worlds are incredibely creative and detailed, the transition to the screen could be interesting...

Like the Grinch... it was interesting to see how that was done, and I thought it was done pretty well (Jim Carrey was perfect for the part)

2002-03-06 04:45:44 PM
You'll all lap it up like the salivating dogs that you are, and then you'll ask for more.

2002-03-06 04:46:04 PM
Eli: no, I didn't write the "Hollywood out of ideas" part actually ; )

2002-03-06 04:47:54 PM
Hey I got a brilliant idea.... don't go see it.

2002-03-06 04:48:14 PM
Mike Myers as the cat in the hat? They need someone less rotund and more tall and skinny. Jim Carrey wouldn't be bad as CITH has the same vague shape as The Grinch.

But there has to be a better choice than that... Can't have Jimmy taking all the Suess movie adaptions.

2002-03-06 04:50:03 PM
Note to self: Start writing original movie scripts...by the thousands.

2002-03-06 04:53:14 PM
I wonder if they plan to do 'Green Eggs and Ham' next? How would they stretch that into a 2 hour movie?

Fark Hollywood!

2002-03-06 04:54:59 PM
Shouldn't Hollywood Is Out of Ideas be its own tag by now?

2002-03-06 04:57:07 PM
Lurk: yes, that and "Fb- is the father," "Hilarity ensues," and "[insert name here] is unavailable for comment."

2002-03-06 04:57:18 PM
hollywood must be communist

2002-03-06 04:57:23 PM
Note to self: Start writing original movie scripts...by the thousands.

There are plenty. That's not really the problem. The problem is that people see these remakes by the boatloads, so the remakes become "safe." Since it's so damn expensive to make a movie, the megacorps that own just about every studio now only want to finance films that they "know" will make them back their investment, plus a tidy profit. You want to make money? Buy the rights to a franchise from the early to mid 1980's. Nothing too big, just something that will register on people's cultural radar. Hire the lamest hack writer you can find (or write the script yourself in a weekend. It doesn't matter, as long as it's in English) and bring to script to a production company that deals with the big studios a lot. Pitch them the idea, wait for them to commision their focus groups, then do the same at another company. Install a second phone line in your house and enjoy the bidding war. After your deal, retire to exotic island of your choice or repeat process until you have enough cash to enjoy Jello shots while watching Britney Spears please you.

Gwinny- I'm glad to hear that. Maybe Fark has a snooze filter that adds that crap to any movie-related posts.

2002-03-06 05:07:03 PM
I know Hollywood is out of ideas. That's why I only watch prOn movies. Not original , but highly entertaining.

2002-03-06 05:07:16 PM
I'm afraid to say it...but I think Mike Myers is Uberfunny.
He rocks. Perhaps one of the funniest guys in show biz.

Woman.... WHOA-MAN! Hard hearted harbinger of hagas...

Funny funny guy. And his work in Shrek - Brilliant! But maybe I am biased on the Ogre topic.

2002-03-06 05:13:20 PM
I Can see "Green Eggs and Ham" turn into a gritty, noir-ish, Stalker film./

2002-03-06 05:14:46 PM
OK, lemme get this straight... Adapting Seuss, Curious George, and old TV shows means out of ideas

Sequels to Indiana Jones, Star Wars, James Bond, and Lord of The Rings = COOL!

Got it!

BTW: Am I the only one sick of that headline prefix?

2002-03-06 05:16:43 PM

Gets my vote to play the Cat in the Hat. Obviously, there's more talent here than in Mike Myers.

2002-03-06 05:34:24 PM
They should let Ryan Stiles play the Cat in the Hat

2002-03-06 05:37:46 PM
John Cleese would've made an awesome Cat.

2002-03-06 05:40:04 PM

Featuring groundbreaking makeup, here's MIKE!

RobbieFal: Good Call! He would ace it.

2002-03-06 05:49:54 PM
Fark Mike Myers to Hell!!! After worming out of "Dieter: The Movie" I now have no interest in his money grubbing ass. I DEMAND "DIETER: THE MOVIE"!!!

2002-03-06 05:52:42 PM
Mike Myers? Mike fuggin' Myers?! Oy! They already killed the Grinch with that live action steaming pile. Now another overexposed sort-of-talent is gonna axe another Seuss gem? I'll stick to the books, thanks. That and Chuck Jones' (rest his genius) cartoon adaptations. But Seuss collaborated on those.

2002-03-06 06:21:22 PM
Thing 1 and Thing 2........Kattan and Ferrel....

2002-03-06 06:21:56 PM
If they're out of ideas, why don't they make sequels to good movies instead of ressurecting years of horrible crap?

2002-03-06 07:09:24 PM
Hollywood has of late inspired me to do my own performance-art piece. I like to call it "The Empty Cinema Theater Seat." I will be performing it at a Cinema near you for the duration of the year. Just look over during your visit to "Cat In The Hat," and if there's no one there, it's me getting artsy again.

2002-03-06 07:44:40 PM
Is this one of the signs of the coming Apocalypse or is it just me?

2002-03-06 11:22:38 PM
Mike Meyers as the cat in the hat? Is that appropriate? and what role will Jamie Lee Curtis play?

2002-03-06 11:27:23 PM
I don't know what's worse; the fact that there's gonna be a "Cat In The Hat" movie or that Tim Allen is too farking busy making "Santa Clause 2" to do it.

I thought "The Santa Clause" was a nice holiday piece, but there's no way in hell I'd even rent the sequel. And as for Mike Myers, I am also miffed by the death of "The Dieter Project." I'm even more miffed by the fact that Beyonce Knowles (of Destiny's Child fame) is playing the babe in "Austin Powers 3." This one's gonna go down in flames, just like "Crossroads"; you heard it here first.

I yield the soapbox to whomever needs it.
