who cares? it's not like any amount of stupidity will affect the Bushes. hell, if Georgie had been convicted of sexual harassment and plagiarism, he'd probably have won by a LARGER margin.
2005-01-09 03:48:23 AM
I liked the original headline with "Gob. Bush" better.

I was reading this in the paper today but I thought I just got confused.

It's about hiring someone with loose enough ethics that you can persuade/bribe them into keeping their mouth shut. They will be more likely to run away like a little girl and locking the door when the BBC or Greg Pallast show up.
2005-01-09 06:57:46 AM
"When Palasts evidence of the fixed vote was presented, on camera, to Florida Director of Elections, Clay Roberts, Roberts said: "If you all want to hang this on me thats fine." Roberts ripped his microphone off and ran into his office. He locked the door and would not come out. Its all on film. But Dan Rather will not show it to you."

That's what I was referencing, btw....

Man, my once beloved Republican party isn't doing so well by me these days.
2005-01-09 10:44:58 AM
I've always wondered, Why are you automatically called a "Liberal" if you hate George Bush? (( God Forbid, Someone hates him for being a complete and utter moron. ))
2005-01-09 10:45:24 AM
I accuse you all of sexual harassment.

You are now guilty.

/read it in on the internet
2005-01-09 10:46:53 AM
are we saying that we expect our leaders to not be (posssibly reformed) villians ? of course not. we should forgive and move on. you guys are all so tough. what if this man claims to have found god since these youthful indiscretions? you didn't think of that before banging on, did you? oh no!
2005-01-09 10:49:00 AM
Isn't this how government works these days?

For example, if a black woman resigns, you HAVE to replace that job with another black woman.

Or, if a transvestite bi-sexual dittohead trekkie resigns, you have to fill that job with another person of the same kind.

So if a sexual harasser gets canned, you HAVE to replace them with another sexual harasser.
2005-01-09 10:50:22 AM
MrNeutron: So that's why Clinton got replaced with another lying piece of shiat?
2005-01-09 10:51:22 AM
His "youthful indiscretions were 6 or less years ago!

Same stuff the right-wingers love to ignore. Morals are only for losers evidently...
2005-01-09 10:53:12 AM
Sage2k: Why are you automatically called a "Liberal" if you hate George Bush?

Because hypocrisy is the state of the nation and as long as it is your hypocrisy then its okay.
2005-01-09 10:56:12 AM

Moral relativism. Seems the nutjob right has gotten real comfortable with that lately.

2005-01-09 10:57:06 AM

You assume those bashing Bush for this support what other politicians did or, at the very least, turn a blind eye to it. You're wrong. The simple fact is that most politicians are the scum of the earth, and pointing out scumbags doesn't make anyone a hypocrite unless they refuse to acknowledge the scumminess of ALL politicians.

I do wonder why you chose to focus on a comparison of the dirtbags instead of the simple fact that they're dirtbags. It sounds pretty partisan, almost like you're attempting to justify it by pointing out how common it is.
2005-01-09 10:58:24 AM

i found this, it might help:

liberal (1) (n): (derog) person who at some point has questioned a policy of messers limbaugh, rove or cheney. haters of america; these liberals are actively engaged in all of the worst of stuff. should be approached with caution. they have small cocks too. and hate america. and don't get "the big picture". liberals will let hitler invade america, and then allow him to turn country into a communist sunni muslim empire, such is their hatred on everything (including america).
2005-01-09 10:58:29 AM
According to the article he both 'resigned' and 'continued to work at the paper', it doesn't say anything about being fired.
2005-01-09 11:01:52 AM
Far as I hear from Dave Barry, that being Florida, you'd expect nothing less. You should see who they elect for mayors in the Miami metro.
2005-01-09 11:02:53 AM
Fundamentalists are funny.
2005-01-09 11:03:40 AM
I would laugh my ass off if Jeb Bush became president in 2008. 4 more years of hippies biatching would be awesome.
2005-01-09 11:07:07 AM
Those sexual harassment guys interview really well. Something about having no shame, I guess.
2005-01-09 11:07:10 AM
So, does this mean he's more qualified to serve in Jeb's cabinet now?
2005-01-09 11:11:14 AM
I didn't know the rat problem had gotten so large in Florida....
2005-01-09 11:14:58 AM

Okay, fun is fun, but just so everyone knows:

Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.

Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.

/Proud liberal
2005-01-09 11:21:09 AM
Ok, this is'nt a good use of the IRONIC tag..
2005-01-09 11:21:51 AM
...and just for fun, lets compare and contrast, shall we?

Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change.

Traditional or restrained in style: a conservative dark suit.

Moderate; cautious: a conservative estimate.

/Christ yours is wonder you guys have no sense of humor.

I submitted this last week, but then again, I work for Elder Affairs, and I'm not supposed to say anything about the firing.

This is interesting: from what I gather from the article, it looks like Brown was fired for the plagiarism bit only. Gov. Bush asserts (and the article doesn't dispute) that Brown was allowed to continue working after the sexual harrassment allegations, which appear to have consisted of looking at porn and making lewd phone calls to a significant other while at work, not actually groping anyone in the workplace. Stupid thing to do if true, but not nearly as bad as chasing skirts in the office.

Lloyd Brown, 65, has been hired as a writer on Bush's staff. He resigned as editorial page editor of The Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville Nov. 2 after the newspaper said its review found instances of plagiarism in some of the editorials Brown had written.

In the article, titled "Porn, Hypocrisy, Plagiarism: The Dark Side of Jacksonville's Daily," Bussard wrote that Brown viewed Internet pornography in the paper's office, and she said he conducted sexual conversations on the telephone while viewing the pornography in the workplace.

The governor's office was aware of the article alleging that Brown had viewed pornography in the Times-Union office.

"This is an incident that happened more than six years ago and the fact the newspaper did their own internal investigation and Lloyd continued to work there speaks for itself," DiPietre told The Associated Press on Friday.

Beyond any cautionary warnings about the plagiarism and making sure this guy doesn't click any boobies links at work, this doesn't look like too big a deal.

Tinian: /let the left-wing hypocrites wail like banshees

Perhaps us banshees don't care for either party.
2005-01-09 11:34:00 AM
people in Florida put up with it because, as i have found, nobody in Florida reads the newspaper. Which is a shame, as we have two of the top newspapers in the country here (St. Pete Times and Miami Herald) ... but the majority of voters are pretty uninformed around here.
2005-01-09 11:40:25 AM

Hey, yeah, vartian. That looks like fun. Let me try.

Tending to give freely; generous: a liberal benefactor.
Generous in amount; ample: a liberal serving of potatoes.

Heh, pretty good explanation as to how liberals view other peoples' money.

Morally unrestrained; licentious

Hmmm, sounds like this guy is really a liberal.

/What a dumb argument.
//Stop watching that drive!
2005-01-09 11:43:31 AM
I belive this story is 5% to 15% ironic. Last I check, that is failing!
2005-01-09 11:48:09 AM
"Heh, pretty good explanation as to how liberals view other peoples' money."

That's a pretty good definition of how Bush views other people's money too.

Is he a liberal?
