Hey... just because he drops acid doesn't mean that he smokes pot.

I bet the come-down sucks with no pot though... you're right, he probably gets high.

Stoner != LSD user.

Change the tag on the poster to "Dumbass".
2002-03-05 07:44:55 PM
"Newlin was last seen wearing white shorts and a white seashell necklace "....
Yeah, that'll make him stand out amongst the tourists here, all right.

If the Dad was "surprised" that his son took drugs, how did he know it was a "large amount" of LSD?
2002-03-05 07:46:53 PM
Large enough to get you lost for days on a small island.
2002-03-05 07:46:59 PM
That's sad. I always thought acid was the best high ever. Scary.

He was attending a rock concert on the island of Maui when he took what his father called a "large dose" of LSD and ran away.

Oh Sh*t! You ate the WHOLE sheet of sunshine?!?!?!?!? Sucks to be you.
2002-03-05 07:49:50 PM
That's right parents, remember to tell your 24-year-old kids not to take "large amounts" of drugs.
2002-03-05 07:52:10 PM
I wonder what concert it was... Hansen, perhaps?
2002-03-05 07:54:08 PM
is there such a thing as a small amount of acid?

hey, I've got a hangover today, a little acid should help clear things up. Actually I know better than that (that you can take a weak hit of acid) but I think parents probably exaggerate things.

Seriously I can't blame him though, string cheese incident is farking cool. especially when you can take acid and only have to walk 2 blocks to get home. That's the great part about having concerts at MSU. If it's in the Aud, and i get lost, someone will eventually find me if I want them to or not.

I've lived here now in Honolulu for two years. Hawaii... nice place to visit, but you sure as hell don't want to live here. Were it not for drugs and alcohol, I'd have been up in a bell tower with a rifle long ago.
Kind of a rule here, really... tourists must get incredibly bent to go to any musical event... look at the fine print on your plane ticket. Really.

Well I really don't know wether to laugh my ass off or, laugh my ass off.

String Cheese Incident! Wonder when they stop by here...

Thank goodness we have friends of 420 like these, and they have yet to get lost at a String Cheese concert

Got 420?

I'd like to see the combo plate: String cheese incident
and Leftover Salmon. What a twisted good time that'd be.

Let me get this straight, stoned, alone, Hawaii, LEAVE ME ALONE!!! How I envy some people!
2002-03-05 09:13:59 PM
I actually didnt see SCI mentioned once in the article.
2002-03-05 09:15:36 PM
Tripping and swimming do not mix, so I fear that the young man is crab bait. Love the Alisha Klass pic, though (how pathetic. I recognize the porn queens instantly).

Pesce: Hawaii... nice place to visit, but you sure as hell don't want to live here. Were it not for drugs and alcohol, I'd have been up in a bell tower with a rifle long ago.

I hear that. Hey, fellow Honolulu Farker!
The Hawaii Fark contingent is finally becoming sizable!

Want to meet and shoot the breeze over a few beers sometime?
(contact info will be given out contingent on "yes" answer)

He was 'itchin' for an incident'

Speaking of large doses of LSD... my friend swan dove off of the balcony at the Palace in auburn hill, mi, during a Phish show in 99. He took a lot of acid. But I think he was in a bad mental state before the acid. I've always had a safe and happy fun time on the magic doses.
2002-03-05 09:34:16 PM
I didn't read the article, but I would like to say that SCI can suckle my nutz. Nice to see someone can hang off of Phish's success. Losers.

Leftover baybee!

*hangs his head for Mark Vann of Leftover Salmon, he died today :(*
2002-03-05 09:37:43 PM
I saw Leftover at the Majestic in Det. back a few months ago.. they know how to bluegrass it up in style. Very sad.
2002-03-05 10:23:33 PM
Maui is a good trip without the acid. What in the name of Kamehameha was he thinking???
2002-03-05 10:25:16 PM
Wow, I can't believe you don't like it here. Maybe you'd like it better OUT of Honolulu. I hate it THERE!!
2002-03-05 10:35:39 PM
I would love to live in Hawaii. There was this guy at a Camp Creek show 2 years ago who was tripping hard, went to the cr*pper ( this was a row of wooden out houses perched over a long trench with a doodie hole carved on the bench inside- you've seen 'em) And while inside he became convinced that the only way out for him was down the rabbit hole...Well, he took that trip and broke his neck on the edge of the hole on the way down. It took the paramedics quite a while to get him out of the poo. Talk about a lousy job! Can you imagine explaining this to the parents? He lived. It sound like urban legend but it's true. Ewwww!
2002-03-05 10:49:58 PM
He's probably still trippin', smoking a j, waiting for the sunrise. If he surfaces, he won't be the same.

what's considered a 'large' amount by normal folks? windowpane if on paper, a 2-3 drops if liquid, 2-3 if gel. Hmmmm.......If so, I'm been super sized many o' times.

2002-03-05 11:06:45 PM
SCI is great. And they are NOT hanging off of Phish's successs...granted, they probably wouldn't be nearly as big if it weren't for Phish and then Phish's "hiatus," but they are still extremely good in their own right...and very different from Phish, for that matter.
2002-03-05 11:11:20 PM
"Newlin was last seen wearing white shorts and a white seashell necklace and had no identification, money, or shoes."

Isn't this the definition of a hippie stoner?
2002-03-05 11:37:41 PM

Seriously, do not ever try this stuff without experienced 'ground control' personel monitoring you.

Happy trails to you
Until we meet again

Ishidan- sure, email me and we'll try to arrange a mini-Fark convention.

Hau'oli Haole- it's not like I'm here of my own volition, I'm doing my navy time. I loved it "there".
2002-03-06 02:16:38 AM
TheFoy: I like Phish. I like SCI as well. But you can't tell me that Kang's mandolin playing isnt directly influenced by Trey's guitar playing. The similarities are unmistakable.

I was at these shows (two nights of total bliss). If you want to see pictures of the shows you can check out my site at and they should be up later today.

This is a farkin' trip. We were hanging with the guys from Trail of Dead, last Thursday, and 2 guys in the band are from Hawaii. One is friends with this guy (or his family) and we were all talking about this! Farking freaky man.
