I laughed very hard at that!

Sounds more like a sad cry for attention. "Looka me! Looka me! First to line up for the final Star Wars! Put me on the CNN! Put me on the Conan O'Brien funny show!"

I'm sorry, friend, but no one cares about Star Wars anymore. That ship hasn't just sailed, but also struck multiple icebergs and a brace of German U-Boats and is currently scattered across the ocean floor in more fragments than Oliver Stone's shattered grasp of reality. Now if you really want headlines, try lining up in advance for "Matrix 4: The Apology." When people try explaining that no such movie is being made, become insanely angry and start shouting that there's no possible way the Matrix creators could be permitted to NOT make it, and then drop to your knees sobbing and wailing.

This won't turn you into national news all by itself, naturally. You also have to be sure you're not wearing pants, are soaked with gasoline, and begin shouting "Free Martha Stewart! Free Martha Stewart with every sandwich purchase at participating Wendy's!" just before setting yourself aflame and diving through the window of your local city hall.

And if that still doesn't do it, well, don't worry about it. You're dead now, so it shouldn't bother you much one way or the other. See how this all works out?

Still has a better storyline than episodes 1&2. I mean, its sad when the fans of the movies can make a better story than the creater.

Second KOTOR was fun, but not as great as a storyline as the first KOTOR.

I want to say they should make KotOR into a film, but no doubt they'd change the storyline, the premise, and intoduce new characters like they do in EVERY FARKING FILM BASED ON A GAME. Is it so hard to understand that if the game sold on its storyline, then you shouldn't change it, and if it sold regardless of it, all you'll do is piss the people who liked the game off without making a blind bit of difference?
Umm, sorry about that off-topic rant. Aaaanyway, if they actually made a film true to the game, it would most certainly be awesome. And the irony of a film based on a game based on a film being better than the films it is based off of is truly delicious.

/And is it just me, or is the guy in the personals section Mr Incredible?

2005-01-06 03:56:03 AM
zzottt

Of course he's not there now... he only waits out there when the news agencies come by to give him publicity. Anyway, it's not like he'll lose his spot if he goes home for weeks at a time.

If i were the manager of this theatre i would NOT show it, at least for a couple of days, just to spite him.

I don't understand. If he's not working for 22 weeks how will he survive, I guess not paying any rent will save him some cash but this guy is just a farking tramp. And not showering for that time - he'll have the theatre to himself!

I wouldn't pay good money to see the latest turkey from Lucas if it featured Jar Jar Binks getting BBQ'd, Senator Amidala or whatever her name is in a 15-minute, no-holes-barred 3-way covered in baby oil, and Natalie Portman herself was giving out free bj's at the end with a Montreal deli-style lox and cream cheese bagel to take home.
Ok, I would, but it better be real smoked salmon, not the salmon-flavour cream cheese crap...

2005-01-06 07:56:26 AM
You know ... as hard as this may be for some to hear ... you dont' have to see a movie the day it comes out. In fact, you could wait a couple/few days for the hype to calm down some.

Amen. I know someone that absolutely must see a movie the night it comes out. Maybe...just maybe I can understand for movies like SW because people have waited x years to see the thing (what's a few more days guys c'mon), but he is like that with every movie.

The quality of the first showing is always better

Ha! Yeah, I know that when I wait until the week after the movie comes out (when there are no lines and no crowds and I don't have to end up with a seat in the crappiest part of the theater) that the quality has taken a huuuuuuge nose dive. I kick myself for what I have missed.

Actually I don't go to the theater anymore. I just buy the DVD when it comes out. I end up saving a few bucks and I can see the movie as many times as I want to. By then I also have a good idea of weather or not the movie sucks before I drop the cash. Sure I don't get to see it on the "big screen" but that is something I don't miss.

They should lower theater prices. The home theater system and projectors are getting very affordable these days. Especially with the $$ a hdtv costs. For that kind of $$ I'd rather just buy a quality projector and have a 20' screen. Aren't projectors hd anyway? You could get a tuner card for your PC also. Why would you want the small screen hdtv that costs 2x-3x the price of a projector?

With a projector, nice surround sound, and DVDs that are cheaper than going to the movies what is the incentive of going to the theater?

I wonder who is caring for his comics while he's gone.

If the movies ends with Vader coming out of the burn rehab unit showing in his new Vader-Suit for the first time and then the credits roll, I'm gonna start a riot in the theater.

Seriously... I get the feeling that they're gonna spend most of the movie showing his decline into the Darkside and he doesn't put the suit on until the very end. Bastards.

As a coworker of mine once said, "I wouldn't stand in line for free money"

(I don't TOTALLY agree with this sentiment. The "how much money?" to "how long I would have to stand in line?" ratio would come into play, but I think you get the idea.)

Orientis:

Frank Herbert - greatest sci-fi author ever.

Herbert had one good book in him - Dune. All the others were, imho, increasingly crappy and not worthy followups.

To this day, I'm convinced that he never originally intended to extend the Dune storyline past the first book and only did so on account of its success.

You've pretty much hit it on the head - he only shows up in the walking iron lung in the last couple minutes of the movie. However, Anakin becomes Darth Vader quite a bit earlier in the movie than before he gets splashed with lava.

Either way, the movie's going to be a couple minutes of true coolness jam-packed with lots of boring stuff.

Twieden thinks prequel episodes one and two were a mixed bag, but he can sum up the potential of Episode Three in one word.

"Vader, baby. Vader."

That would be three words.

If a homeless guy tried to camp there, the theater would complain and the cops would beat him senseless with billy clubs. But it's okay to camp on the sidewalk when you're not homeless.

I went out there this morning to interview him on my radio station - 8:30 looked like he was asleep all bundled up on the couch. We decided to wait a half hour and then I finally walked over to wake him up...

Nothing but bundled up clothes on the couch... nowhere to be found!

FAKER!

Well, you know that's basically going to happen. They already had 3 films full of Vader doing stuff in that suit. They'll want to have Haden visible until he's just about dead. Don't expect to see that much of the Vader Suit, which is almost 30 years old now.

2005-01-06 01:09:00 PM
LOL.. I'm guessing that they crafted a new Darth Vader suit. I seriously doubt they're using the same one from the first three movies.
