Excellent!

Now if we can get the churches to pay up as well.........

awesome - hit them where it hurts most - their pockets

then send in a daisy cutter or two

"The complaint recounts several episodes where PETA members were arrested during protests for stunts ranging from slashing leather clothes"

Idiots, if they actually cared about the animals and not being extremist idiots (a.k.a MAXIMUM COOL!) they wouldn't do that. The store will just replace them with new leather clothes, having more cows killed in the process.

What's the basic requirement for joining PETA anyway, having eaten paint chips as a child?

Let them keep their taxes, send those terrorists some napalm, courtesy of Harmonia and Co.

2002-03-05 09:47:36 AM
Definitely !

2002-03-05 09:48:46 AM
Aren't animals people too? Doesn't that make them somewhat hypocritical?

2002-03-05 09:52:34 AM
cool, I'm the only one who knows this story was already posted.

does that mean I come here too much?

/me dances around like a retard

Well, damn, now they'll have to anti up money to pay the family of the deer they hit in NJ!

God: AMEN!

2002-03-05 09:55:00 AM
I just dont understand the people who think PETA is crap and that animals have no feelings. PETA may be a little extreme but at least they are trying for a good cause. Thats my two cents worth anyway.

2002-03-05 09:56:41 AM
"PETA may be a little extreme"

A little extreme? HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!

2002-03-05 09:58:24 AM
I don't think their PLO tactics will help when they need public support and sympathy.

2002-03-05 09:59:54 AM
hmmm, I'm not sure what's worse, PETA extremist crap or people who go rabid anytime PETA is mentioned. Both are equally disturbing.

2002-03-05 10:00:33 AM
Tax-free terrorists.....no longer, hopefully. When they start destroying property one begins to question the validity of their claim. I just think they hate people, and thusly love animals.

2002-03-05 10:01:42 AM
Yeah, Katywv. It's not like we're not for Animal Rights (well, most of us, anyway). PETA is just a gross distortion of what Animal Rights should be. For example, I don't think there's anything morally wrong with eating or killing animals. Torturing them, though, is different.

2002-03-05 10:01:44 AM
LANshark: at least the people who go ape at the mention of PETA don't destroy private property.

2002-03-05 10:01:48 AM
PETA is using sound methods to forwad their "cause".

Yeah.

And I might be Chinese jet pilot.

2002-03-05 10:02:37 AM
Forwad?

Forward.

It's not the fact that people don't like animals and think they don't have feelings. It's the fact that there are millions of PEOPLE out there who need help and PETA dumbasses put the animals above humans. That's my two cents.

2002-03-05 10:03:59 AM
Now if we could only get the government to revoke tax exempt status from ths church of scientology!

2002-03-05 10:07:59 AM
Is the church of scientology tax-free? I do not know, at least they do not support terror. Though John Travolta is quite terrifying in recent movies. If they make Battleship Earth 2........

2002-03-05 10:08:22 AM
Even if they don't get their charitable status revoked I hope this puts a strangle hold on some of the BS they do or maybe they will start thinking twice before doing anything stupid.

2002-03-05 10:10:13 AM
Yeah, the stupid Scieno clams are tax exempt.

(can you say "faith based initiatives"? I knew you could!

Tax religion, make them work for a living.

Throw paint at a PETA demonstrator today!

2002-03-05 10:15:30 AM
I do not think it is fair to say that churches should lose their tax-free status along with PETA. If you look at the argument, it is not about what PETA stands for, it is the implementation of those ideals, ie, destruction of property and support of groups that engage in illegal activity. Currently "religion" is not engaging in this type of activity, therefore should remain exempt. It is not a matter of agreeing with an idea, it is more a rule of law.

2002-03-05 10:16:59 AM
It's about damn time!

2002-03-05 10:17:54 AM
If religious leaders want to voice an opinion on political matters, Agent50, they should pay taxes like the rest of us.

2002-03-05 10:19:55 AM
"But Mr. Kerr testified that "PETA has never engaged in violence or threats of violence against any person or entity, no matter how heinous their animal abuse." Really? I wonder if he doesn't realize that throwing paint on people and slashing leather clothing IS violence...

"Now if we could only get the government to revoke tax exempt status from ths church of scientology!" Why just them? ALL churches should pay taxes.

It's not that (most) people object to the humane treatment of animals, it's that we object to PETA's inhumane treatment of humans. Saying their goals are good even if the methods are extreme is simply validating any group which operates the same way. PETA justifies their actions by saying humans are aware of what they are doing while animals just feel pain. By the same line of logic, ALF and ELF is justified in torching resorts and blowing up logging trucks because humans are destroying irreplacable environment. And don't say that "trees are a renewable resource" unless you can show me a "renewed" old-growth forest.

2002-03-05 10:22:42 AM
They are just too extreme when it comes to most issues (not saying that there arent religious groups, or others that arent also), but some of there tactics are just farking crazy... I think this is a good thing!

2002-03-05 10:26:15 AM
I do not currently agree with revoking churches tax-free status, you raise an interesting point Ironbar, I will think about it some more.

2002-03-05 10:27:51 AM
Ironbar-

Is your name Wong Wei?

2002-03-05 10:28:39 AM
Like any of the morons at PETA make enough money for them to tax. Pfff.

2002-03-05 10:29:18 AM
Couldn't have happened to nicer folks.

I hate to disappoint you guys, but the Center for Free Enterprise is a joke. They're a conservative group who writes letters about liberal groups to try and get them in trouble. Just writing a letter to the IRS means nothing- anyone can do it. These guys write the letters then send them to stupid conservative papers like the Washington Times. They've never accomplished anything or gotten anyone's status revoked. They're absolute morons who can't get stories printed in decent papers.

2002-03-05 10:36:21 AM
Morons or not, PETA is a menace.

2002-03-05 10:38:57 AM
I listened to the president of PETA go on a local talk radio show in Charlotte and openly advocate blowing up and burning down restaurants, banks, etc because he thought they were either being cruel to animals or because they were funding businesses that are cruel to animals. Anyone who is a member of PETA or who supports PETA is a sicko.

Oh, I don't disagree about PETA. This guy does this to EVERY progressive organization out there that's big in the media. They really are a joke and so is the Washington Times. Believe me, nothing will come out of this.

The president of PETA is a man? Hmmm.

2002-03-05 10:42:48 AM
Yeah, sadly, NVM is right.

The Washington Times is a total garbage heap when it comes to the news. They rank right up there with NewsMax.com in terms of idiocy.

2002-03-05 10:43:35 AM
Agreed, nothing will happen because this would be the wedge to boot the Catholic Church from their tax status as well.

2002-03-05 10:51:30 AM
Anyone who is a member of PETA or who supports PETA is a sicko.

maybe. but at least I'm a 'sicko' with a soul. for all the rediculous stunts PETA pulls for attention, we actually DO make a difference in a lot of animal's lives. find another group that has had the same effect as PETA, if you can. the way most people here see PETA is narrowminded at best, but then it is FARK after all...

2002-03-05 10:52:19 AM
If we're not supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?

mmmmmmm...bacon

2002-03-05 10:54:22 AM
Nuke the whales.

2002-03-05 10:55:43 AM
If this happenes then it means there is a god.

Oh, I know, you and your ALF/ELF buddies make a huge difference when you let lab and zoo animals loose who promptly die in the wild.

2002-03-05 10:58:00 AM
Agreeing with Seratide.......

"find another group that has had the same effect as PETA, if you can."
