Only a man who would be king could dress like this:

Screw Elvis... we (Cincy)didn't really want him anyway!

Give us Bledsoe!
2002-03-05 02:19:50 PM
Ummm... it was Baltimore that cut him.... Not Cincy... Yes, idiot who wants to start trouble, I know it was rumored that Elvis might sign there... that's not the point.
2002-03-05 02:21:13 PM

Do you mean the little girl from The Cosby Show?
2002-03-05 02:24:15 PM
yeah elvis sucks ass!
2002-03-05 02:24:58 PM
So, I read the articles and I couldn't figure out.
Does he still get paid $MB because of the contract even though he's not playing? If so, we need a "genius" tag.
2002-03-05 02:25:54 PM
Poor bastard was stupid to leave the Chiefs in the first place. He and Tony Gonzales coulda built a pretty decent franchise, in time anyway.

"Hell yeah I'd like to play for the Super Bowl champs! What could possibly go wrong?!" Poor, poor dumb bastard.
2002-03-05 02:26:17 PM
Oh man, not that this is related, but I really hate Elvis impersonaters.
2002-03-05 02:32:00 PM
Good Farking riddance!!! That guy was one of my least favorite players of all time. Didn't give a frog's fat ass about winning, only cared about cashing his paycheck and running up meaningless stats at the end of games How could anyone be "content" with the legacy he left? By the way, I liked the quote by his agent: "They asked him to take a $5 million pay cut, which is totally unsatisfactory." What the FARK???? What's unsatisfactory is taking over the helm of a Super Bowl champion and signing a $30 million contract and then tossing 15 TDs and 18 INTs. They should change his name to Grbage.
2002-03-05 02:41:58 PM
Zorgon: Last I heard, NFL contracts only get paid if the player in question plays. Otherwise, no money. Therefore, Elvis is hoping he can get good endorsement deals and his accountant didn't screw him.

He wanted the Bengals to change their helmets to something with 75% less gaudiness. They didn't, so he retired rather than sign with them.

I can see where he's coming from. ;)
2002-03-05 02:45:21 PM
Omegacrebus: you want Bledsoe, you got'im! (*grateful that the Pats will have even MORE $$ to spend on free agents - now to get rid of Terry Glenn*)
2002-03-05 02:46:51 PM
We don't need him here, anyway. The $10 Million he turned down can buy a lot of O-Linemen to support the Corey Dillon Running Machine. I'm sick of the Bengals paying franchise player money to has-beens, woulda-beens, and never-will-bes. Ten million can get a high quality young QB, a star WR, a couple above average WRs, a Pro Bowl Lineman, or a cornerback...

[image from too old to be available]

A cornerback...

[image from too old to be available]

I said a cornerback...

[image from too old to be available]

The guys who covers the opponent's wide recievers, a cornerback...

[image from too old to be available]

Forget it, the Bengals will never get a good cornerback.
2002-03-05 02:52:35 PM
Way Cool Junior:

The Bengals have the coolest helmets in the NFL.

The helmet alone accounted for half their wins last year.
2002-03-05 03:06:26 PM
Does this mean they won't be cloning the King afterall?
2002-03-05 03:15:58 PM
1. The Bengals have awesome helmets.
2. I'm very glad we didn't get that assclown. I have no idea why anyone would want him.
3. Trent Dilfer sucks too. The Bengals were looking at some pretty bad QB's and it's nice that they didn't get them.
2002-03-05 03:16:19 PM
Cincy already said they wouldn't give up a first round pick for Bledsoe. Maybe that will change now. How about if we toss in Teri (yes T-E-R-I) Glenn, her makeup kit and a prom dress? You don't have to put her on the field, the pre season "hamstring" injury will pretty much insure you don't, but the DB's could have some fun beating on her in preseason. Deal?
2002-03-05 03:17:44 PM
Screw Grbac and the horse he came in on. He's the prototypical immoble QB who has to have all-day pass protection. He couldn't even master evading light pressure and throwing the ball away instead of throwing an int. or getting sacked and fumbling. He actually cried on the sideline after one of his interception fests. Real inspiring. Besides Cinci already has Scott Mitchell. Old cement feet.
What gets me is that football money isn't guaranteed but baseball money is. Players get hurt in bb sure. But not like fb. Baseball money is way out of control.

Talk amongst yourselves...
2002-03-05 03:37:45 PM
Grbac sucks and not even Cincinnati should want him. He just made the super bolw champions worse. If only the bengals could trade for Bledsoe....
2002-03-05 03:41:23 PM
He had to leave the Ravens, otherwise Ray Lewis/OJ junior would have killed him.
2002-03-05 03:51:40 PM
...and just to show I'm not spiteful about the fact that the Patriots aren't going to get anybody even close to Bledsoe in terms of talent, I hope the Eagles kick the living @#$%^&* out of Danny Wuerrfull or whoever ends up QBing for Washington

ohh, I guess I am spiteful
2002-03-05 03:52:20 PM
Here I thought you were talking about Elvis Stojko, and I was getting all ready to be indignant.

Never mind!
2002-03-05 03:52:28 PM
so elvis has a little pride. play in cincinnati or retire...hmm....can't you see that thought cloud?
"3-13...4-12...most losses of any team in the 90s...incompetent owner/gm in mike brown, but katie's hot...hmm...field is mud painted green...hostile fan base...well, i AM white, so i've got that going for me if i live in cincinnati....NAAH. RETIRE."

makes perfect sense to me.
2002-03-05 03:56:45 PM
Bb34 - Like to see you say that to Lewis' face. Dork.
2002-03-05 03:58:12 PM
i lived in cincinnati for eleven years and KC for the last 3 - so i definitely know two things, and they're best stated in this limerick:

i lived in lockland and kc
and the facts are as plain as can be
elvis had no will
and no clear football skill
but the bengals suck ass constantly.

2002-03-05 04:04:34 PM
Maybe Jeff George can be coerced out of retirement...

2002-03-05 04:29:30 PM
He should have to give back all the money he ever made. He was a complete sham of a football player.

And he will be back in the NFL within two years. Are you kidding me? Somebody somewhere will pay him $2 million a year to hold a clipboard. I will now set myself on fire.
2002-03-05 05:27:45 PM
So Elvis retired to eat peanut butter and bananna sandwiches, and all the NFL played happily ever after.
2002-03-05 07:55:51 PM
Elvis Grbac. Man, buy a vowel.

Chiefs fan in the house. That cat was one stinkball of a QB.

I feel the pain of the Baltimore fans, but probably not as acutely since the Chiefs haven't been defending Super Bowl Champs for about 30 years. What Elvis did to your team should be actionable, if not criminal. However, making Dilfer go bye-bye wasn't the brightest move either. When he played this year, Seattle mostly won. He isn't the flashiest guy ever, but he seems to get the job done.

On another topic, does anybody know what the heck's the deal with the Chiefs and former San Francisco QB's? Witness:
Steve Deberg
Joe Montana
Steve Bono
Elvis Grbac

Send us Garcia!!
