So remember folks, the pirate version swears, the Walt Disney. (This gag was brought to you by the Old Jokes Vault of 1845)

Say what, now? Am I on crack (nope), or did that make no sense?

2005-01-04 06:40:03 PM
All the more reason to pirate it.

Legal disclaimer: Not that I condone that in any way, shape, or form, which I don't.

Since when can The Sun be bothered to do actual journalism? They are nothing more than a tabloid. This should surprise no one.

And the pirate says...
Aaargh, it's driving me nuts!!

Hmm, the mods changed my headline.

Some Farktard: The real mystery is why this says it's from slashdot.

I found it on Slashdot, so I figured I'd give credit to them as we don't have a link icon for this site. :-)

Disney = doesn't (for those unfamiliar with Glasgow accents)

2005-01-04 11:26:09 PM
It's okay, though, because the pirated version was clearly rated "ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR".

Jesus Says: "Go Ahead And Buy Pirated Stuff"

So it's okay.

sasbazooka: Gotta figure that- makes me wonder where the dad bought the game 'n'such from...

Apparently there are a LOT of little kiosks in malls around the continential US that are selling pirated games like the one from the article. Nintendo in particular has been quite voracious as of late in cracking down on them too.

2005-01-04 11:28:38 PM
Good lord, Mode 7 is still around? IIRC, they've been releasing stuff since the SNES days.

2005-01-04 11:28:49 PM
Uhh, Mode 7 is a hacker group who releases GBA ROMs. So basically, they had some ROM or whatever, with the group's intro message (I have those in my ROMs on occasion), which contained swearing. And they assumed it was part of the game? Hah, tools.

So he doesn't swear around his daughter, and gets his panties in a bunch when others do. However it's okay to buy illegal software, and actually break laws to get cheaper gifts for your children. Good example asshat. Go F**K yourself!

Those pirates better shape up or they'll have Joe Lieberman and Tipper Gore forcing them to submit to government approval.

2005-01-04 11:42:33 PM
We figured out the game was pirated last night.

/You heard it hear first on fark.com. A better news source than the Sun.

2005-01-04 11:46:19 PM
hahahaa, the guy got jipped pretty badly too for hacked games too. Says he spent 200 pounds on the two GBAs (assumed to be the GBA:SP which can be bought for $70 US now at most) and several games (god knows how many others were pirated too). 200 british pounds is equivolent to about $377 US, so either he bought a TON of games or got majorly shafted....

If you guys wanna talk about pirates, you should check out the thread about the radical Muslim cleric. He only has one eye and a hook for a hand, no joke. That thread was on fire with pirate jokes, mostly by me hehe.

I never understood the term "piracy" when it comes to making illicit copies of media. When real Pirates took a ship, they just took the damned thing by force. They didn't make a duplicate of it, or distribute the blueprints, while leaving the original intact.

Don't copy that floppy. Steal a boat.

(GreenAdder does not endorse or consone boat theft.)

Iczer: Apparently there are a LOT of little kiosks in malls around the continential US that are selling pirated games like the one from the article.
Isn't that a different problem in a different country. From what I understand, the one from this article was sold in England and is a cartridge that can be used on any GBA. The pirated games in the US are stand alone systems similar to those atari ones that plug into the av slots on a tv/vcr/whatever but they're playing a pirated "101 games in 1" (or some other number) cartridge from the NES,

Well, the RIAA and MPAA are kind of like Privateers -- they are privately owned but authorized by the government to seize (sue) the wealth of "enemy ships" (downloaders).

Of course, unlike Privateers, the RIAA and MPAA has never impressed anyone, though they have seized property.

good ole Mode 7 and there shiatty game intro's. They dump and add them while I download and remove them. Why do they even bother?

Oh, and theres some guy at the mall who sells pirated NES systems... think I should extort him for $?
