"I try not to be judgmental about whether a large radio station should be giving away free toys to children instead of free breast augmentation"

Think of them as free toys for adults.

Next to the cup holder, fake boobies are one of the greatest, most American thing we've given to the world. What's wrong with these people.

2005-01-04 10:26:07 AM
My girlfriend tried to get this on the Detroit station, but she wanted a reduction and they said they only go bigger.

/Discrimination?

2005-01-04 10:28:27 AM
Fake boobies are lame, and down the road a huge number of these women are going to end up with complications that will end up being paid for by taxpayers whether they participated in this silliness or not.

2005-01-04 10:40:50 AM
I'd think a womens organisation would support women's right to choose larger boobies. A womans right to should she so desire get herself boobies that require a wheelbarrow with side extenders to move around. A womans right to not have anybody interfere with her choice to have boobies so large and firm you could use them as the court for a tennis grand slam. I'd think a women's organisation would be hypocrits to object to women choosing to take control of their own bodies as they see fit.

Submitter is an asshat. What a disgusting headline. Who the fark are you to suppose all women in NOW are lesbians. Get a farkin' education. I can't believe derogatory shiat like this gets greenlighted. Not the article, but the headline. It's gay-bashing as well as supposing that if you're strong woman you are gay.

Where the fark are the mods?

scootah

Nicely played. But that's not really what NOW is doing in this situation. They're arguing that contest winners should be guaranteed medical coverage in case something goes wrong with the procedure. Currently they have to sign a waiver. While they're at it, they're trying to spread their message that the entertainment industry promotes an unlrealistic body image, which they believe leads women to desire breast implants.

Greenlit? Wow!

Right on newmoonpuppyhead! And the next time someone implies all conservatives are fascists, or all red-staters are racist, or all southerners are hillbillies, I'm sure we can count on you being there to complain about the injustice!

And you'll be there when someone implies all liberals are poor, unemployed, pot smoking hippies!

2005-01-04 11:41:04 AM
They are complaining the contest promotes potentially dangerous surgery and leaves its winners with no legal remedies should the surgery go awry. Under the rules winners, who must be at least 18, must sign a waiver protecting the company from all liability claims.

Relax, everyone. The organizations have a talking point. That's it. Do I agree with the contest? No, I think it is disgusting (kinda like The Swan - remember?). But so what?
Scootah is right. Women can do what they want. And here is why:
They are adult women making an informed decision with knowledge of the consequences.

Nope! I'm not the one whining about a stereotype. I'm just pointing out the probable hypocrisy of the whiner.

I see no problem here. I've always thought that NOW was made up of straight, single, ugly women.

So you'll point out the hypocrisy, but you'll take part in it.

Right. Good job.

I'll assume that made sense. As soon as the MANY threads with stereotypes about conservatives garner this type of outrage from liberals, then I'll feel sorry for the whiner.

That you don't have spellcheck. And that it greatly consternates you causing you to lash out at off-colour, yet clearly not serious, remarks.

If I had been serious or truly offended, there would have been no smile! I was just being catty!

Wow. I didn't expect this to get greenlit or I might have been alittle more tactful in my devils advocate post. My points still stand though.

Sure, the competition is farking stupid and ignorant. Its as tragic as those farking 'the swan' and 'ultimate makeover' bullshiat shows. But frankly? fark it. If people want to participate, thats their business. I choose not to. I won't watch the TV shows about plastic surgery and I'd change the station of any radio that pimped this retarded bullshiat. But fark it - nobody is forcing anybody to be involved. When they start dragging women off the street kicking and screaming and forcing boob jobs on them, then I'll give a fark.

Organisations like NOW shiat me really. Femminism in general shiats me. Groups that promote female agenda's are no better then whats already there. Let me know when the agenda is for universal equality with the protection of the rights of all persons, regardless of gender and I'll revise my opinion that their tree hugging hippy farks who opperate to the detriment of an evolved society. Untill then I think they're counter productive and hypocritical.

And now, for my most Un-American, Un-Male, Un-Cool statement of the day:

Fake tits suck.

Thank you, that will be all -- though I'll admit I'm not that big of a fan of big'uns even if they're real.

2005-01-04 12:09:45 PM
Eh, it's just some biatchy women's group complaining because they've got some sand in their crotches.

Remember men, they're only women. They're not people like us.

/All statements above not the opinion of the above poster.
//Although the poster does think women's lib groups need a new hobby other than biatching.

"Congratulations on winning your new biatch-tits, Bob."

As far as I know patients are not allowed to waive claims for medical malpractice. The women are not left without a remedy for failed surgery. They must sue the doctor instead of the radio station.

I liked the headline. I'm sure there is a feminist out there who isn't a butch lesbian, but I liked the headline anyway. Maybe there is more than one. It's not real life, it's fark.com.

2005-01-04 12:10:27 PM
Hey wait, I thought we could still all be non-pc around Fark?

/headline is rude, submitter should be ashamed

2005-01-04 12:12:09 PM
Anything that could lead to Clear Channel being taken down a peg is a good thing in my eyes.

I don't mean that some poor woman suffering medical complications would be a good thing, I'm talking about the negative press and negative public reaction they're getting from this lame-ass stunt.

But, I'm sure this will result in some poor $18k/year DJ getting canned, while the CC execs give themselves another bonus.

And, Howard Stern was doing this "on air implant thing" years ago...just saying.

interesting that NOW needed to be explained in the headline

awareness of NOW has diminished

2005-01-04 12:14:53 PM
Put down the nachos, listen and learn - breast enlagements are lame, and women who get them are morons - there are no exceptions - no, not one.

They're as lame as those stupid tattoos over their asses and their booger collecting nose rings. When you see women with these things, turn and run in the opposite direction - screaming is also a good option...

Why do you hate nice boobies?

2005-01-04 12:15:48 PM
NOW is a bunch of feminazis. It's funny how the FCC is being used as a pawn by every political group now.

Let me know when the agenda is for universal equality with the protection of the rights of all persons, regardless of gender and I'll revise my opinion that their tree hugging hippy farks who opperate to the detriment of an evolved society.

You, sir, are an ignoramus of colossal proportions. Barring something in the water supply where you live, there are only two sexes. "Universal equality with the protection of the rights of all persons" is precisely the purpose of "groups that promote female agenda's(sic)," insofar as society has a long and continuing history of failing to grant women the same panoply of rights and privilges afforded to men. Ergo, an agenda seeking to rectify that disparity is one seeking equality.

I suppose you're also one of those "gay rights = 'special rights'" troglodytes, too?

2005-01-04 12:16:48 PM
Reading the headline, I thought the girlfriends in question were the morning show's, not NOW's.

Besides, I remember the last time NOW made a high-profile protest - at the Masters. That went over real well and was QUITE successful...

/12 pissed off people with signs

2005-01-04 12:16:58 PM
try as i might, i did not find any reference in the article to butch girlfriends

/sick with flu, smoking pot

2005-01-04 12:16:59 PM
I thought fake boobs were out of style now.

2005-01-04 12:17:04 PM
NOW thinks this is wrong but doesn't seem to care about "The Swan"?

/Fake boobies= mankinds greatest achievement

2005-01-04 12:17:52 PM
Oh, and BTW - how come NOW is attacking this and not Extreme Makeover? Oh, because Clear Channel is an easy target and buckles easy...
