Hmmm.... The cops dont give a fark up here in alaska. It may not be the smartest thing to ask him to hold it for you, but as long as your not endangering someone by driving on it, they leave you alone. It's alot better then the laws say, but only in juneau, the rest of the state has conservatives crawling out of the woodwork.

farkIN JERSEY....what ridiculous laws

2002-03-05 01:23:28 AM
I smoke a lot of marijuana. I got caught with a half-smoked joint in my ashtray last Wednesday. The cop let me go. He didn't even search for my two-ounce bag, which was in the console between the seats. I kept the joint and kept on driving. Got a ticket for speeding, though. He just asked about the smell. So, I showed him the joint. He wrote the ticket and said "Have a safe evening."

Selling weed to a pregnant female in Jersey doubles both the incarceration and the fine.

Who knew?

2002-03-05 01:27:00 AM
What's the deal with suspending licenses in GA? I can get $0 fine, stern talking to and probation for under 1oz, but they yank my license for 6 months? I'm pretty sure I would be inclined to commit more serious crimes if I couldn't get to work.

2002-03-05 01:28:26 AM
I hear Amsterdam is a pretty safe place to be caught with weed in. I think I'll go get caught with some weed over there. Not a bad idea.

2002-03-05 01:28:32 AM
Shyster: that's pretty sloppy man, you're giving pot smokers a bad reputation with crap like that.

2002-03-05 01:32:55 AM
This site has some very stupid liberal bias.

Mind you, I'm liberal on the topic of drugs, but it's still worth noting.

The description of the Mandatory Minimum Sentence policy in Washington State, for example:

"When someone is convicted of an offense punishable by a mandatory minimum sentence, the judge must sentence the defendant to the mandatory minimum sentence or to a higher sentence. The judge has no power to sentence the defendant to less time than the mandatory minimum. A prisoner serving an MMS for a federal offense and for most state offenses will not be eligible for parole. Even peaceful marijuana smokers sentenced to "life MMS" must serve a life sentence with no chance of parole."

That is absolute bullshiat hyperbole. A "peaceful marijuana smoker" would never, ever be sentenced to life without parole as part of a mandatory minimum sentence, let alone for anything else. It even says further up on the page that the mandatory minimum sentence is 24 hours. So where the hell are they getting 'life without parole' from? Whoever wrote that description is a stupid jackass.

Whoever wrote that description is a stupid jackass.

No, just stoned.

Stephenv: I know. I'm not proud, just lucky.

2002-03-05 01:49:15 AM
Weed sucks makes me tired. I prefer beer.

2002-03-05 01:55:33 AM
Stephenv:

I'll add that, in spite of my insouciant attitude towards marijuana laws, I've never had a marijuana-related arrest.

I'd tell you about the time I passed a joint to an officer in full uniform. But, I don't want to smear the hitherto untarnished reputation of pot smokers any further.

2002-03-05 02:05:52 AM
It isn't a question of liberal bias. Mandatory sentencing is a minimum for a given offense. If it is 24 hours or 5 years for a particular crime, then you won't get out sooner. Many drug and non-drug related offenses carry mandatory sentences in some places, and they can include marijuana. There are people serving life sentences for marijuana offenses. A state like California with it's "three strikes law" will get you a mandatory life sentence for three felony convictions regardless of their nature.

If you want, come to Aurora,MO, the cops here smoke pot.
I, er, Someone i knew once smoked pot with the cops. Hell they would be on the cruise strip, and getting pulled over on the strip meant you would get smoked up. I love this town. Missouri rules.

This one cop I, er, *someone* smoked with got so high in his car he let *someone* wear his hat and badge and drive around.
He kicked ASS.

At a rave last weekend, the cop on duty in the rear of the venue caught a few of us smoking a blunt. He told us to put it out and take it outside. Then he put up the challenge... "I don't care what you smoke, as long as you smoke it in the smoking area outside. Hell, I want you to roll the biggest blunt you've ever rolled, just smoke it out side." We ended up gathering up all the weed we could and rolling up "The Felonius Joint" - 36 grams in a Bible paper. We have pictures, if we can find the camera from that night. Took over an hour to smoke, and almost everybody dropped out after awhile, but it was all in fun.

Kane827: About that "someone" to which you referred: Did you mean that he drove the police car around? Did he pull anyone over?

[-.=Mokie-420=.-]: Your story reminded me of this old Cheech & Chong vinyl LP that came complete with a paper the size of the album cover. I bought several copies. Mmmm. Those were some big joints.

Apparent Nuisance: I see! If that's true, and I have no reason to believe it's not, I will stick my foot in my mouth.

It seemed to me this site was randomly shouting off hyperbole about life without parole mandatory minimum sentences for drug possession when I know of no single drug possession that would get you life without parole, and just above it specified that the mandatory minimum sentence for possession was 24 hours.

But as part of a 'three strikes' system, I see what it could mean.

Great. Like I'd share my stash with a bunch of kids.

ahhhhh, mokie, I always wanted to do a bible paper joint...

but seriously, folks:

NEVER GET CAUGHT WITH WEED IN ARIZONA
I hear new mexico's bad, too.

I did the marijuana diversion program once in AZ after being busted while I was f'n camping! what a danger I was to society that day hiking around a lake. I drank Naturally Klean Tea (on the day of desired cleanliness) for 3 months (yes, randoms piss tests) and learned nothing. carried weed again in AZ and got busted, had to face FELONY charges. it was an illegal search and I knew it, fortunately the judge recognized it, too. but they really get off on busting stoners there... they're the only ones dumber than the cops. (hey, I won't be that dumb again, I guarantee.)

That stuff about NC is wrong. I got caught with a few seeds and my sentence was: $200 fine, court costs, 1 year in jail suspended, a drug treatment evaluation- $400, probation- with about $100 in fees, drug tests. What was I doing that got me busted? Laughing at a movie I was watching late at night. Downstairs neighbor didn't like the noise and told the cops I was beating a woman. They came in, saw the seeds and arrested me. At least I got back at the neighbor. I gave her a stern talking to about what good neighbors do for each other. And how bad neighbors like her can have 'accidents' and no one will be willing to help her. She moved out the next morning. I moved out the next month. Will never live in an apartment again.

2002-03-05 08:22:37 AM
Ookie:

I live in NC too, and several of my friends have been busted with 1/4oz-a little under a half, and they all simply received fines...you must be living in a backasswards part of this backasswards state.

I once toured the Davie County jail - led by Bufford Puss....er..."Gerald Hege" himself - all whilst properly elevated. I (of course) carried none on me and a friend drove - I just thought it would be so cool to walk through that place & meet that guy all while lit. I think he knew too - and some of his Hege Youth Squad too - but what could they do?...

2002-03-05 08:50:42 AM
PA is wrong too. Alot of the areas where they state that possession is a misdemeanor is actually a Summary Offense (that's below a misdemeanor)

2002-03-05 08:57:47 AM
I think anyone caught driving on ANY mind altering substance needs to be killed instantly. No questions asked.

2002-03-05 09:04:18 AM
Mierk: like dopamine, for instance?

2002-03-05 09:25:18 AM
Mierk - I understand you're POV and, while a tad over zealous, you're right. But I'd rather take my chances with someone who's taken a hit or had a beer than:
- a driver with too many voluntary distractions (eating, phone, music) or involuntary ones (kids.)
- a driver with age related issues (aka: very old and unable to drive safely or too young and arrogant)
Tell me with a straight face that those aren't as serious risks as a DUI driver...

Rifter: It was in Charlotte. The courts here have a deal with a local drug rehab clinic. So all those poor souls who are busted get funneled into that clinic. They make no money if you have no problem, so of course everyone who gets evaluated gets to pay through for some form of treatment. I had to pay pay $50 four times to watch taped ABC afterschool specials and 20/20 segments on heroin abuse. This was in addition to to couple hundred it costs just have them tell you that you have a problem. I suspect some serious kickbacks are taking place. Everyone in court that day who was there for weed got the same sentence. That is a lot of money going into that 'treatment' center. I tried to argue with the judge that the law didn't say anything about going to a private clinic for an evaluation, or probation. He got kinda mad and told me that if he wanted to he could send me to jail for the full year so I had best shut up. There is no justice in Mecklenburg county. That is why I moved to Union county. It is a little better here. Not much, but a little.

Monkeybiatch: You are correct sir!! I got back from a trip to Vancouver and Whistler on a ski trip- man what a time! Blunt Bros. cafe was a hoot. Whistler was fun also- there is nothing quite like smoking a cuban blunt and nobody around you really giving a shiat!! I know where I am moving soon...

2002-03-05 10:20:24 AM
FrankGarza: Your trip is making me drool. I haven't been to Whistler (heard GREAT things though...), but I've been skiing at Breckinridge, Copper, Keystone, etc. It's been many years (pre kids) but I have very very fond memories of 6"-8" of fresh powder, sunny skies, no lift lines, and riding a high speed quad to the top while working my Dugout. I truely doubt there is a better way to spend a day. Ah, good times...

One time, maaaan, we were at this party, maaaan. And, get this, dude went home, maaan, driving in his minibus, maaan.. dude drove off the road in the fog, maaan... they didnt find him for 3 days, maaaaan! get this, maaaan.. Stairway to Heaven was still palying on the deck.. maaaaaan!

Ehh, something like that..

Bump: If you haven't been, you MUST go. The only problem I had was there was too much powder for me- plus the snow is a lot wetter than the snow in CO that you are used too. I guess being so close to the ocean, the humidity levels are a lot higher.

Badrabbit: maaaann, he didn't run out of weed did he?

2002-03-05 11:41:18 AM
SLAYERSWINE: Don't pass the dutchie to that boob Woody Harrelson!! Hewould probably bogart the whole thing!
