The girl's British, right?

She ought to get an Order of Chivalry for this.

/10 year old hero. Just.... wow.

Way to go.

Ya ya ya. Teachers around the world go ahead and pat yourselves on the back. 10-year-old girls too-what the hey.

Truth as I see it, the hero was 'mummy' since sure as hell no 10-year-old rallied a beach full of people to safety. A frantic mother, on the otherhand, is a force greater than a 9.0-as this story bares out. There's nothing like the mania of a mother protecting her young from harm.

From the mouths of babes...

I so love it when children enjoy their education and it is even more wonderful when they employ it, be it something as wonderful as this or even in some mundane, everyday circumstance.

//also a great example of why one should do their homework.

2005-01-01 09:52:35 AM
I am very impressed that she knew this and when she told her mother she was believed. Mom deserves the first good parenting license of 2005.

They used her massive boobies as a flotation device?

My favorite rock band is Hundreds from Tsunami.

Why is "Hundreds" capitalized?

2005-01-01 12:52:40 PM
Ok, now I've read the article. Mad props to the girl and her 'mummy.'

Because it's a proper noun. I learned that in grade school.

slobarnuts,
teacher is also a hero.

knowledge is key, spreading it makes the world a place

Makes the world a place? I thought the world was already a place. A very big place.

I think you missed an adjective, buddy. :)

"Truth as I see it, the hero was 'mummy' since sure as hell no 10-year-old rallied a beach full of people to safety."

and who was the one who told her mother? If she never told her mom, the whole family may of died, along with alot of others on the beach.

As a bunch of army buddies say, anyone can fire a gun.

Bravo to the kid for realizing it, the teacher for actually teaching something so well that the kid retained even when on holiday, and to the mother for taking her child's words seriously.

Awesome article.

2005-01-01 01:03:14 PM
Atta girl!

2005-01-01 01:04:24 PM
Well done that girl. And well done to the Mother too. Bad things happen when people don't listen to kids.

2005-01-01 01:04:33 PM
Finally, you farkers have class. Looked at message board on Yahoo about this item, and it was filled with cynicism.

\Still early in the thread, though.

This thread is useless without schoolgirl pics.

No, sickos, not pics of the 10-year old schoolgirl in question. That's just sick. She's British.

/Still doesn't change the fact that this thread is useless hawt schoolgirl pics.

Hi.

2005-01-01 01:05:53 PM
Now this is a story I like to hear.

2005-01-01 01:05:54 PM
Sharp work from the girl, she should get a lot of accolades for this.

Also great that her Mother listened to her (probably a nice kid in the first place, not a brat) and the teacher for imparting that knowledge and getting it to stick in her head.

This is the kind of thing that leads children into a particular walk of life... world needs more experts on weather & geoactivity, maybe this girl will grow up to be active in the field.

2005-01-01 01:07:30 PM
Saners: and who was the one who told her mother? If she never told her mom, the whole family may of died, along with alot of others on the beach.

Yeh, the kid was the catalyst...but this could of easily panned out like, "Now, honey, you let the adults handle those sort of things...go play with your Nintendo for awhile..."

2005-01-01 01:07:43 PM
I bet the schoolgirl could also explain proper nouns to submitter.

2005-01-01 01:09:33 PM
Just wondering... How credible is The Sun? I mean, with all the outrageous stories and crap they've put out in the past, they could easily make this story up...

Goze: Just wondering... How credible is The Sun? I mean, with all the outrageous stories and crap they've put out in the past, they could easily make this story up...

Well, of course, BatBoy caused the tsunami from his underwater alien headquarters in the first place...

2005-01-01 01:13:24 PM
Holy crap, that girl totally owned the tsunami right there.

2005-01-01 01:14:56 PM

The girl's geography teacher, Andrew Kearnay from Surrey in northern England

The reporter is a jackass.

2005-01-01 01:24:27 PM

"Run! Leave the beach! My daughter says a tsunami is coming!"

2005-01-01 01:27:36 PM
I just imagine that teacher the next term, "listen up and pay attention in class" with real conviction.

Props to the kid for paying attention and props to everyone that listened to her. This is like the people that die swimming in riptides, they just need to think and swim sideways OUT of the riptide. Just a little knowledge and clear thinking works wonders.

2005-01-01 01:33:56 PM
Yes! Geography is proven to be a good class. (I'm a Geography major so yea for me!)

Student: When will these Geography lessons come in handy?
Teacher: When you are about to die!

2005-01-01 01:36:10 PM
Hooray for Geography, geographers, and little girls who will no doubt grow up to be geographers!

I don't think it's such a big deal. I would've done the same thing. Only I would've saved thousands of lives.

That's a smart girl. Maybe she could teach Saners and thousands of other farkers the difference between "have" and "of."
