If only more parents would push their kids out of the nest and force 'em to grow up...
2004-12-30 08:55:52 AM
Farking punk. He got what he deserved.
2004-12-30 08:56:56 AM
Who stands outside their house and heckles police officers? What a loser.
2004-12-30 08:57:50 AM
Wow, and I thought I had wasted my youth.
2004-12-30 09:03:03 AM
*laughs* now thats class parenting.
2004-12-30 09:07:56 AM
Go mom, go mom....
2004-12-30 09:08:08 AM
Didn't you guys RTFA?? Small children were involved. Not big ones, nor tiny ones, just small ones.
2004-12-30 09:10:11 AM
scootah: *laughs* now thats class parenting.

Hmmm... my sarcasmometer isn't getting a good reading - I must need more coffee.

I'm pretty sure that's what I'd do - if my kid was 18. If he's 17 (or younger), I'd probably walk out there to apologize to the officers, and give the boy hell for the next month.
2004-12-30 09:14:01 AM
nicely played, mom!
2004-12-30 09:15:44 AM
yer 18 hoss, and apology letter aint gonna cut it.
2004-12-30 09:20:40 AM
Hey copper! Your mother wears army boots! Your car looks like a giant panda! You couldn't hit the side of a barn with that gun!

Oh shiat! Hide me mommy!
2004-12-30 09:23:46 AM
Good call, Mom!

And whats even funnier is that he went from a "citation" to resisiting and assault...what a retard...

That being said, maybe Mom should have started teachung him the difference between right and wrong about 18 years ago...
2004-12-30 09:28:32 AM
I see he remembered to take his stupid pills that morning.

/Nice to see that the mom finally woke up and did the right thing.
2004-12-30 09:35:41 AM
I think there will be a debate as to whether this was a good call or not when in the next few days we read the headline....

Son kills mother due to mother's act of decency.

/Don't get me wrong, I still say she did the right thing. Let's just hope something like that doesn't happen.
2004-12-30 09:46:16 AM
Well done, Mom. I will be that Mother.
2004-12-30 10:38:00 AM
so was he white yelling at black cops, or black yelling at white cops?
2004-12-30 10:38:00 AM
Ha! Wait til his father gets home!
2004-12-30 10:40:24 AM
I'd bet good money this kid has never even met his father.
2004-12-30 10:40:36 AM
I think the Mom needs an award. And I have to tell you, the fact that he heckled them in the first place does not prove that Mom is a bad parent.

She pushed him back outside so he could "take his medicine", right?

How do you know he isn't a good kid that just had a horrible day trying to find a job, only to find out all the jobs have been sent to India? You don't.

But on the other hand, the Mom could have pushed him back outside so she could get more time to stash her crack pipe.

No one really knows...
2004-12-30 10:40:54 AM

Who knows? Some children turn out good despite bad parents, some turn out bad despite good parents. I just know that in this instance, the mother forced her son to own up to his own stupidity.
2004-12-30 10:41:45 AM
Yo momma pwns j00!

"At one point, Smith struck Burger in the face ..."

Unfortunately, it looks like Burger's face will require a lot of surgery:

This mom deserves the "Hero" tag.

Fark that little farker. Show some respect son!
2004-12-30 10:43:31 AM
In high school, a little kid threw a rock at my car and cracked my windshield. When I stopped and got out, he ran into his house. I simply opened the door and followed him in. He was in the kitchen with his mom.

After she calmed down following my sudden appearance, I explained what had happened. She told me to file a police report and promised that her kid would pay for the damage himself (which he did).

I never would have expected that in a million years. Let's hear it for stand-up parenting!

/kid probably turned out OK
2004-12-30 10:45:06 AM
"Oy darlin! oy darlin! I'm a wanker! I'm a wanker.

2004-12-30 10:45:20 AM
The mom is a hero. It is more loving to do what is best for a child than to simply do everything the child wants.

/Of course, *my* mom is just as classy.
2004-12-30 10:46:32 AM
Settingsgaard said that as Smith was questioned by detectives, he wrote an apology letter to Burger and Charles for the incident....
........after getting the shiat beat out of him in the holding cell
2004-12-30 10:46:55 AM
Boy, if this was one of my kids, not only would he be writing that apology letter - for a couple of months he'd be washing their cars and mowing their lawns.
2004-12-30 10:48:23 AM
My mom would definitely have done that. But she'd never hesitate to go to bat for me if were wronged. I got a good mom!

"When Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" or something like that.
2004-12-30 10:48:46 AM
I'm covering my ears for when this explodes into a racial flamewar.

In the meantime, way to go, Mom! I hope my wife and I will force our kids to take responsibiltiy for their actions like that - even the really, really stupid ones.

Imagine if that idiot used his idiotic powers of idiocy for good, instead of turning a cop-harassing ticket into an assault on a police office charge? The world would be a better place.
2004-12-30 10:48:46 AM
Uh... what were the officers going to issue him a citation for? They shouldn't have even been at his doorway or apprached him. He wasn't doing anything wrong, it's called freedom of speech. If they can't ignore a punk kid and keep doing their job then maybe they should find a new line of employment.
2004-12-30 10:49:23 AM

Who stands outside their house and heckles police officers? What a loser.

A moron whose father never showed him a tape of Rodney King's beating and told him, "Son, this is what happens when you're rude to the cops. Just say 'yes, officer', 'no, officer', and 'it won't happen again, officer' and you won't get your ass kicked."

I'm serious; this is what my father taught me as a kid.
2004-12-30 10:49:45 AM
"When you turn eighteen, you're outta the house!"
This seems like as good a time as any other.
Let me know your new address!

Love, Mom.
2004-12-30 10:49:51 AM

Here's a hint to all the moms and dads out there...

Don't let the police discipline your kid (even if he is technically an adult). You never know what might happen. Especially if your kid is dumb enough to mock the police for no good reason in front of them. This had all the makings of one of those stories where the kid ends up shot dead and the mom lives the rest of her life in sorrow until she dies by her own hand sometime around christmas in the next few years.

As far as I'm concerned the kid got off lucky. Hopefully the beating he received in the precinct didn't damage his obviously impressive intellect.
2004-12-30 10:50:45 AM
what kind of ticket do you get for heckling a police officer?

Is free speech dead?
2004-12-30 10:51:48 AM

It doesn't say what the kid was saying. Though, I can't think of too many things that would move their attention from an accident to this retard.

This has got to be one of the funniest things I've heard in a while. Get your @$$ outside. HAH!
2004-12-30 10:53:03 AM
Jerkstore, you're lucky that woman didn't shoot your sorry ass for walking into her house without being invited. I'd certainly have pressed B&E or trespassing charges on you for that.

Her kid breaking your windshield did not give you the right to walk into her house unannounced.
2004-12-30 10:53:08 AM
Programmer Cat:

Amen to that. Most of the cops I've dealt with in my time (thankfully not too many) are these swingin' dicks that think they're the bees knees because the got chosen to be a cop when so many others have to be security guards. There are exceptions to this profile though.

Show them a little respect and don't make them think you're trying to pull anything on them and usually they'll be alright.

Wrong tag for this story...for the mom it should be [image from too old to be available]
2004-12-30 10:53:58 AM
Should'a realized how this kid would turn out by his baby pixs..

Scratch that...
obscenities and racial comments

The kid got what he deserved. Cops deserve a certain amount of respect, especially when cleaning up an emergency scene.
2004-12-30 10:56:30 AM
ha ha
2004-12-30 10:56:37 AM
i will never understand why you would mouth off to the guy who has the power to lock you up....just move along, he will also.
2004-12-30 10:57:12 AM
What an asshat. I love when people look for trouble, and when they realize they're going to get their ass kicked in, they run like the coward they are.
2004-12-30 10:58:38 AM
Biggie Thang

That was funny. Of course, the poor kid will grow up with that picture floating around the internet, ready to be Googled when he or she starts dating... :D
2004-12-30 10:59:02 AM
What exactly is the charge when caught heckling the police?
2004-12-30 10:59:47 AM
2004-12-30 11:00:56 AM
"Hey cop! I can kick your @$$, you $#&%!@!"

Thoughts -Oh crap! They're coming after me! Better run!...realizing that he can't kick their @$$.

...what an asshat..
2004-12-30 11:01:06 AM
Some kids turn out as losers even with the best of parenting. That's what sounds liked happened here.

Mom is still trying to teach him right and wrong, but at 18 he's as stupid as a kid gets.

Hopefully in a few years, when he grows up he'll realize what a jerk he was.
