What's so special about this lamp post??

Why the hell aren't we hearing about the thousands of lamp posts knocked over in Sri Lanka, or Thailand?? Don't they matter just as much??

Don't you care??

/(you figure it out)

2004-12-29 10:54:51 AM
i didn't realize the brits also called them tornados. i thought they had stupid names for normal things over there. maybe they don't call them twisters. they're probably spinners.

I not do it... ask rabbit.

2004-12-29 01:53:18 PM
"A Met Office spokesman said tornadoes could be so localised they only affect one or two streets."

now thats some precision tornadoing.

Lomis: I heard the US has sent $100 million in relief funds so far...

I heard this Norwegian guy from the United Nations was complaining that Western nations were stingy and not responding to this lamp post crisis appropriately.

He also said that our taxes should be raised, so that our governments could contribute more.

/Fark the u.n.

When somebody talks to you in Welsh, it counts as a downpour.

We had an awesome line of storms hit in the Sierra foothills northeast of Fresno yesterday. For about 20 minutes or so the rain was horizontal, debris was flying, and the wind made a really cool sound. Then it was gone.

weather radar just showed a yellow band of activity that moved over us real fast. Freaky.

2004-12-29 02:05:34 PM
Sought for questioning:

2004-12-29 02:07:11 PM
Somebody should post a link to that website with the chair knocked over.

2004-12-29 02:09:06 PM
Would that be a sun roof and windshield in english?

Mini whale knockes over lampost in Tornado.

/r o l a i d s

2004-12-29 02:10:13 PM
darn - no trailer parks.

and no one said "....and it sounded lak a frate-trane comin down tha street."

American tornadoes as a rule seem to target rednecks. Welsh tornadoes target light poles.

Where are all the Welsh rednecks?

Oz?

2004-12-29 02:11:13 PM
I figured it would be spelled 'lamp poste' being that we are talking about Wales.

/hates E's and U's being randomly tossed into words abroad

2004-12-29 01:53:11 PM BlorfMaster

quick, take it to the begining of time in the land of narnia and plant a new one!

(geek, read em all.)

That was my first thought as well.

2004-12-29 02:12:41 PM
In other news, a bunch of hooligans knocked over a dustbin in Shaftsbree. Or however the fark that's spelled.

The hooligans are loose!

/Hicks.

2004-12-29 02:13:35 PM
Hahahaha, stuff like this makes me laugh. If you have never had your house destroyed because a majority of your neighbors home was blown into it by a tornado, then you have no right to complain about some stupid ass flying shingles that went through your sun roof of your car.

2004-12-29 02:14:02 PM
Is a mini-tornado like a dust-devil? Here in Joke-lahoma we aint even gonna make a trip to the root cellar over yonder lessin' it's at least an F3. full of dogs with bees in their mouths.

2004-12-29 02:18:11 PM
We call them microbusts. They are sideways tornados.

2004-12-29 02:18:16 PM
OMGOMGOMG

2004-12-29 02:18:22 PM

Perhaps he was drunk.

2004-12-29 02:21:45 PM
Thank goodness no celebrities were injured, although the lamp post used to hit this:

2004-12-29 02:26:47 PM
Yeah, a micro burst. We get them a few times in Mass. during the spring and summer. It becomes a tornado in Wales because the most interesting thing to do there is watch your car bumpers rust.

2004-12-29 02:27:07 PM
No one knows what it's liiiiike, to be a lamp post, in Waaaales, with hooo-li-gaaaaans

2004-12-29 02:30:37 PM
graveleye:
darn - no trailer parks.

and no one said "....and it sounded lak a frate-trane comin down tha street."

American tornadoes as a rule seem to target rednecks. Welsh tornadoes target light poles.

Where are all the Welsh rednecks?

That's the whole problem. The angry Tornado God must have aluminum to be appeased. Here in Orlando, you might just as well put wings on a trailer and wait to get airborne, cuz its a comin', just you wait.

Oz?

Naw that's where all the aluminum goes. Remember the movie?

2004-12-29 02:32:34 PM
Where ther a tribe of Pikeys in Caravans staying in Wales that night?

/Do you know the meaning of the word Nemesis?

2004-12-29 02:44:13 PM

Would be sought for questioning...if he weren't dead.

/Don't need no stinkin' ticket...my table's reserved.

2004-12-29 02:52:02 PM
At least it wasn't the hooligans this time.

/no one knows what it's like...to be a lamp post...in Wales...with hooligans
//Bill Hicks is rolling in his grave after this post

2004-12-29 02:53:40 PM
Kyouzo,
I was waiting for a Bill Hicks reference. Nice job!

2004-12-29 02:57:41 PM
Kyosuke:

What's so special about this lamp post??

/ It wasn't this one.

2004-12-29 03:01:54 PM
Hold on folks.

"We also had a tree and a lamp post blown down."

Let's not forget about the tree, people.

2004-12-29 03:02:16 PM
This is proof that even God hates Wales.

2004-12-29 03:03:44 PM
Well that must've blown.

2004-12-29 03:04:00 PM
Almost as good as the Hooligans knocking over a Dustbin in Shaftsbry...

/miss Bill Hicks...

2004-12-29 03:05:36 PM
i bet it was the town drunk.

2004-12-29 03:08:35 PM

2004-12-29 03:10:20 PM
DirtyDeadGhostofEbenezerCooke

I'd hit it with my post.

2004-12-29 03:13:58 PM
I am duly impressed with the speed and efficiency of the Narnia references. Carry on.

/Turkish Delight, anyone?

2004-12-29 03:18:03 PM
How many Welshman does it take to replace a lamppost?

One, if you don't count the sheep stuck to his willy.

/Again, I am ashamed.

2004-12-29 03:22:34 PM
"Someone could have been killed. I know there are a few houses where the windows have actually gone in."

OMG!!!11oneone
You mean someone could have been.....killed?!?!?!
Hey budy..errr mate, come to okalahoma if you wanna see some tornadoes..hehe

/sound redneck
/don't care

2004-12-29 03:43:55 PM
it was a general scene of destruction...We also had a tree and a lamp post blown down

Perhaps I'm a little jaded but I found this statement to be amusing. Would have probably rated an F0 on the Fujita scale. Perhaps they'd like to come to the US and experience firsthand what an real tornado can do.

2004-12-29 03:44:50 PM
Welcome to Britain, where even the extreme weather conditions behave in a civilised manner.

/except at chucking out time.
/Yes, Wales is in Britain. Jesus.

2004-12-29 03:50:56 PM
...and Tumnus noted, curiously, the flicker of the lamp post's flame on an otherwise calm evening...

2004-12-29 03:53:33 PM
Just if that mini tornado had hit somewhere in the united states the entire street would have been goon.

2004-12-29 04:09:20 PM
atm155:

Just if that mini tornado had hit somewhere in the united states the entire street would have been goon.

No, if that mini tornado had hit in the U.S., we'd be invading Syria because they might provide weapons of mass destruction to the tornadoes.

/I know its lame. I'm sorry.

No one knows what it's liiiiike, to be a lamp post, in Waaaales, with hooo-li-gaaaaans

Dammit, beat me too it.

Staggering home, the headlights throw a shadow up and upon
Friends and loved-ones that have done no wrong,
But no longer mean anything to me.
Oh am i mumbling on, into a crystal glass that echoes a song?
The enticement invites you along a path of exterior colour.

But come the morning, shivering and contorting,
To border on the brink for just another sink - oh take me down,
For one more round.

Oh, involve me in libation, stick a rock in my foundation,
I pick all my relations, put me on probation - oh i'll take you down,
For one last round.

Oh, lovestruck, i've fallen for a lamppost,
Giving her my utmost, spilling out my deepest feelings.
Lovestruck, i've fallen for a lamppost,
Giving her my utmost, spilling out my deepest feelings.
Now all i want to do is snuggle up to you.
A night-cap in the early morning dew.

Look, what have i become? dispensing myself so far and from
But gazing out i waved the night boat on,
For now it's heaven in deepest tottenham.

Oh, what have i done to deserve this fate? it's all going wrong
Even the cab fare has been and gone
And now i'm lagging in deepest tottenham.

But come the morning, shivering and contorting,
To border on the brink for just another sink - oh take me down,
For one more round.

Yeah, lovestruck, i've fallen for a lamppost,
Giving her my utmost, spilling out my deepest feelings.
Lovestruck, i've fallen for a lamppost,
Giving her my utmost, spilling out my deepest feelings.

Fight me, fight me, strike me down with lightning,
I've given in to fighting.
Now all i want to do is get up close to you.
A night-cap in the early morning dew.

Oh, lovestruck, i've fallen for a lamppost,
Giving her my utmost, spilling out my deepest feelings.
Lovestruck, i've fallen for a lamppost,
Giving her my utmost, spilling out my deepest feelings.

Lovestruck, i've fallen for a lamppost,
I'm giving it my utmost, i've fallen for a lamppost,
With my deepest feelings.

Now all i want to do is snuggle up to you.
A night-cap in the early morning dew.

Sorry about that folks! I'll try not to let loose such large farts in Wales in the future.

This was more Fark-worthy than the father who sold his sons' Christmas presents on eBay? Come on...

Maybe I don't understand what Fark is all about.

2004-12-29 08:23:47 PM
growing up in Phoenix, AZ we saw these all the time. We just call them 'dust devils'.
