I was wondering when this stuff would happen.
you've got to figure the two recent huge earthquakes would set off a whole bunch of tectonic related events.

I was just talking to my friends YESTERDAY about possible volcano activity this week, due to this massive shift.

If anyone is shocked or getting apocalyptic over geological activity in the Pacific region, then you are a dumbarse. That's the most volcanically and seismically active portion of the globe.

That's very nice and all but does the Shiveluch volcano have it's own giant fly? If not, St. Helens still wins...

spasmodic volcanic vibration: def: that rumble you get in the intestine after eating at Taco Bell.

THANK YOU!! I'm so tired of reading threads about seismic activity and having every other post be something about this being the end of the world...

NEWSFLASH PEOPLE:
EARTHQUAKES HAPPEN EVERY DAY!
VOLCANOES ERUPT EVERY DAY!

This is, of course, in no way a gesture to downplay the tragedy in Asia, but for the love of sanity people knock it off with the stupid end of the world posts already.

Its down to Mt St. Helens or the San Andreas Fault to make the Trifecta before New Years.

2004-12-29 04:52:37 PM
Well when it snowed in South Texas I knew the end was near...

2004-12-29 04:53:09 PM
I saw on CNN that some scientists think the earthquake may have been strong enough to accelerate the earth's rotation PERMANANTLY. It doesn't shock me that it was then also strong enough to cause a volcanic eruption.

that or the La Palma volcano in the Canary Islands...

::sigh::

I know you're being sarcastic, but i have relatives in south Texas and they said it snowed there about 20 years ago too.

I can't help but worry. We haven't had our superquake for 300 years, and we're overdue.

And forget St. Helens:

Rainier is like a big zit just ready to pop.

Which one would that be? California?

that or the La Palma volcano in the Canary Islands...

Good point, that could be the high odds winner from the back of the pack. And would settle that argument once and for all.

This whole apocalypse thing is unfolding a lot slower than I had imagined it.

Clearly, I'm going to have to bump up "The Day After Tomorrow" in my NetFlix list to learn how best to survive this.

2004-12-29 04:58:34 PM
That silly earth, she just don't get it... we ain't leaving.

As far as I'm concerned, I had my trifecta last night when this giant freakin storm in So Cal blew down a 30' tree in my back yard.

scared the shiat out of me
