Well, it was to be expected sometime.

Hmm... is it:

1) A rat, who was a fishing pioneer, dies.
2) A pioneer in the art of rat fishing dies.
3) A rat who is fishing for cutting edge dice?

I understand that dachshunds are very popular with the catfish in Germany.

Nothing fights like an angry seagull. Start with rats and move up to winged rats when you're ready.

Alfred Nobel, who made dynamite fishing possible, is gone as well.

OK, time to update the greenlighting guide checklist:

-Admins like The Clash.
-Admins are rat fishing enthusiasts.

Now I just need to find a story about rat fishing that involves guns and Brixton.

Oh dear, this is a terrible tragedy, first some other guy I never heard of and now this. Some of you sick bastards will make tasteless jokes when you should be crying for this random stiff.

I never thought I would hear the word 'Guntersville' again... grew up in the town next to it. Wow, small world... though weird.

2004-12-26 11:58:56 AM
Damn, what are we supposed to use for the rat sorbet, rat pudding, or the strawberry tart?

Now that made me chuckle, it's funny 'cause someone always expresses that sentiment ;)

So I suppose this leaves me the uncontested king of baby duck fishing?

Peanut gallery: What is that, Tom?

You tie a Swiss seat looking harness around a duckling, with a treble hook dangling between his legs with a small weight, about 3 inches below. Then you put little duck out in the bass patch, and let him paddle around happily in the sun. Eventually, Mr Bass will come to call.

The Grim Reaper got him with a "jig and eel."

Yes, without his invention of the tiny fishing rod, the rats of the world might have starved that cruel winter.

It's pretty obvious there are not many Farkers that fish. Someday some of you may turn off the game systems and actually venture outside. There aren't many things that top the excitement of feeling your rod suddenly bend double with a big fish on the line.

It's actually pretty interesting to pull up your bream stringer and there's Mr Bass gnawing one off the line.

And fishing with ducklings really works. It's just sort of...illegal.

I find that having my rod bend only slightly when a member of the opposite gender is on it is much more exciting. At least, it's more exciting than being a master baiter.

Fishing can be a very fun and relaxing way to spend a day, as long as you don't catch and release.

/has fly fished on the Campbell river.

What?

2004-12-27 12:37:37 AM
Boy, do I hate fishing. It's not like I haven't tried. I've fished more times than I can count (I spent a long time learningto fly fish too) but I just never found it enjoyable. It's also not that I don't like tha outdoors, or as jeep44 puts it "turn off the game systems and actually venture outside." I love the outdoors, I even work summers as a naturalist. But fishing... can't think of many things that excite me less... and I knit sometimes for fun.

My local paper makes FARK, what an honor!

I do fish and Lake Guntersville ia a great lake to fish. I had never done this technique until a friend took me out on his boat this summer and showed me. It was pretty fun and when the bass busts through the weed patch and snags your lure, it is pretty exciting. Didn't know the history behind it though or that it was called "rat fishing" either.
