I work at a RadioShack in a mall. Last night, we had a "Midnight Madness" promo where we stayed open until midnight. Only problem is that the mall closed at 10:00pm and we don't have an outside entrance into our store.

I don't know how much we sold between 10:00 and midnight, but my guess is not much.

People would actually resort to breaking and entering over a farking pair of kicks? Its a clue about how old and busted those Air Jordans are when the media has to reference who the hell made them famous...

People spend way too much on sneakers... I don't know the last time I saw someone walking down the street and said "damn, those are some nice sneakers!"... well actually I never said that at all. I get ones that I like, are comfortable, and in the $40 range.

It's a pair of freakin sneakers people... calm down.

2004-12-23 09:08:08 AM
I didn't want the shoes back then, why would I want them now?

A search on Finish Line's web site brings up these:

They look ugly to me.

2004-12-23 09:13:13 AM
They're SHOES people!!! Just shoes. Maybe if they were actual Air Jordans that were dusted off and sold, but they're reissues. Just like reissued comics...they're worthless.

I bet they're still ugly shoes though.

"People would actually resort to breaking and entering over a farking pair of kicks?"

People resort to much more than that over shoes, like robbery and murder.

What happens if you wait 4 hours in line and finally get in, only to realize they don't have any in your size left? Sounds like another recipe for disaster.

2004-12-23 09:16:46 AM
Feh. Get me a pair of plain black steel toe boots anyday. I stopped wearing shoes when I couldn't find a pair of shoes that came in one solid color, preferably plain black. Nothing flashy. No ridges, or ugly molded shoes, decent traction with no funky fresh stylin' design on the bottom. Plain black shoes.

The day I spend $150+ on a pair of shoes is the day I stop drinking. $86.50 gets me two pairs of waterproof plain black steel toe boots. And that's when they're not on sale.

So how much is added to the cost of a shoe just because of the name Jordan on there? 50 bucks? 100 bucks? Feh.

I sold a pair of Air Jordan II originals on e-bay a couple years ago for $500. Never been worn with no box. I used to get them free when I was a kid. found a pair in my father's garage and decided to see what I could get for them. I was thinking $40 or something.
I don't understand why anybody would pay that for an old pair of sneakers....dumbass'

NB rocks. Quality comfortable shoes for around $40. Can't beat that. Anybody who has wide feet needs to give them a try. I wore Reebok and Nike for years until I saw the light....

$500 for sneakers? I feel a lot better right now for wasting 20 on a crappy CD.

One thing I've never understood and watch with fear mingled with contempt is how people shoprush. You know, like zergrush.

The doors open and a mass of people floods in, eyes glazed over, grabbing anything that says "New!" or "-50% off!" and so on.

WTF is that, Apocalypse around the corner and you can't face it without a new sneaker?

/doesn't like to lump people into categories, but has always considered shoprushers part-time morans.

Remember, the demographic that thinks $150 sneakers are a good idea, isn't the same demographic that looks at Fark.com... Or actually use the internet... Food stamps to be traded in for shoes... Bargain time!!!

quiefNpea,

That may be true of the shoes in general but NB is the only shoe maker that offers sneakers in extra wide widths up to 6E. You might have to order them or find a store that sells them but they are definitely a better fit than any other shoes.
