Wow! So uh.. How exactly do these people hope to reproduce?
2004-12-22 08:30:17 PM
Pulido said she was confident that citizens who catch a glimpse of offenders would report them to police -- though the law also threatens jail for peeping Toms.

That lil bit says it all.
2004-12-22 09:03:56 PM
What an. Amazingly great, Headline.
2004-12-22 10:46:33 PM
How to detect the naked indeed
2004-12-23 12:35:57 AM
"We are talking about zero tolerance ... for a lack of morality."

So the religious right are taking over down there, too?

Canada, you're next.
2004-12-23 03:02:59 AM
This thread is useless without someone posting that pic of how it's useless without pics.
2004-12-23 03:03:29 AM
Hey, any law that makes it more difficult to catch a glimpse of schwetty old-man wrinkled and brown hairy nut sack can't be ALL bad, can it?

/I think I just made myself sick...
2004-12-23 03:04:37 AM
You guys have any idea how hairy...

That's it! We absolutely positively must staple clothes onto newborn children. It's imperative to preserving Mexican morality.

These are the people who sacrified and ate eat other a couple hundred years ago.
2004-12-23 03:07:37 AM
It makes no sense. The problem isn't nude people. The problem lies with windows. Make a law prohibiting windows. Problem solved.
2004-12-23 03:08:03 AM
I think they just worded the law incorrectly. It's just as illegal anywhere in the US to display your jumblies in front of a huge window where someone could see it from the street.

But apparently they don't own any venusian blinds in this town.
2004-12-23 03:09:46 AM
Haha! They say they hope that random citizens can enforce it by looking in people's windows, while at the same time having a penalty for being a peeping tom. Real smart thinking, guys!
2004-12-23 03:11:21 AM
Oh no! What will Paulina Rubio and Thalia do now? They're, like, almost naked all the time...!
2004-12-23 03:15:52 AM
I guess no more showers. I hope they get even more ventilation in those houses now.
2004-12-23 03:20:31 AM
american slapping around of civil liberties surrender
2004-12-23 03:21:06 AM
I lived in Villahermosa for three months. It's Mexico's Vegas, only noisier. Someone I knew had problems with noisy neighbors because it was a brothel.

Morality in Villahermosa?!?!?!?!
2004-12-23 03:21:20 AM
i know it's mexico but america isn't gonna surrender to itself
2004-12-23 03:22:45 AM
BTW, it gets so hot in the summer they ought to require people to strip naked.

This is so stupid on so many levels....
2004-12-23 03:22:56 AM
*Takes off to see if there are any sorority houses in Villahermosa that need me to help *ahmen* enforce the local ordinances. and such. whatever.*

Villahermosa is known for very large ancient head carvings like this:

[image from too old to be available]

If that is what the people look like then they need to keep their clothes on.
2004-12-23 03:32:05 AM
morality for the greater good strikes again
2004-12-23 03:35:22 AM
Save us, Jebus, from the nekkid demons!
2004-12-23 03:35:39 AM
Line from Madonna's next hit:

I live in a conservative world, and I am a conservative girrrrlll....
2004-12-23 03:37:05 AM
Feh. It's not like Mexicans ever shower anyways.
2004-12-23 03:48:04 AM
Curtains any one??
2004-12-23 04:16:16 AM
On a side note I think that there should be a law allowing people that are naked and also do not own any clothes to travel naked to the nearest clothing store to buy clothes without fear of being arrested. It makes sence to me.
2004-12-23 04:25:48 AM
i posted this from another source with a quip about "never-nudes." come on, that's comedy gold!
/poor loser
2004-12-23 04:26:44 AM
sifusalinas wins the thread, hands down best comment this one will see!
2004-12-23 04:30:12 AM
I've always wondered about that.

I think though, in retrospect perhaps it's better if they don't reproduce. In general if something offends you that's YOUR problem, not theirs. By that definition, also called "personal resposiblity", it's a stupid law.
2004-12-23 04:33:07 AM
This is truely a great day for any perv wanting to become a public HERO in that town.
2004-12-23 04:42:26 AM
And yet, that's when the whole situation starts to really head for comedy gold: if you're looking into someone else's window and see them nude, doesn't that make you a 'Peeping Tom'?
2004-12-23 04:48:22 AM
After reading this, I had to get naked and run around my house. God Bless America!!!
2004-12-23 04:54:29 AM
Jigg, have you no morals? Being naked is an outrage and should be condemned no matter the circumstance. This is the type of legislation which should be adopted across the country! Yay for our country taking one more step for a better, more moral civilization!
2004-12-23 05:15:58 AM

"...the Revolutionary Institutional Party, which governs the state and city."

I declare teh thread winner!
2004-12-23 05:29:40 AM
Without having read the article (hey, shaddup, I'm getting ready for work over here), is it possible that the situation is like this: Nekkid in house is fine, but neekid in house and flapping one's peener in front of a open window is bad?

And if someone walking down the street happens to see such peener flapping, as opposed to hiding in the bushes for a similar view, then they can call the cops?

2004-12-23 05:55:21 AM
This is what happens when you give those irrational christian extremists too much power.
2004-12-23 06:33:47 AM
The article said:
Pulido said she was confident that citizens who catch a glimpse of offenders would report them to police -- though the law also threatens jail for peeping Toms.

"Greg, I'm afraid you've earned four hours in the snake pit as punishment. And Jan, for tattling on your brother, you've earned a day in the chamber of fire."
2004-12-23 06:41:10 AM
glad i don't live there

2004-12-23 06:44:33 AM
I think I'll go down there and start a resort for women with no windows where they can get as naked as they want all the time.

There were some fine looking ladies down there when I was there. I would have loved to have stayed long enough to see the one I was dating naked. She probably could have converted me from my heathen Episcopal beliefs to Roman Catolicism. (The Episcopal Church is Catholic Light anyways).

Maybe I should invite her to Houston where she can get naked at my house without fear of prosecution.
2004-12-23 06:45:34 AM
Question... How exactly do you shower without being naked??
2004-12-23 06:52:48 AM
Axion22: These are the people who sacrified and ate eat other a couple hundred years ago.

The spaniards did that?
2004-12-23 07:05:45 AM
All humor aside, I's say that Aztec human sacrifice IS morally equivalent to the Spanish Inquisition.

Now, you shall sit in the comfy chair! Cardinal Fang, fetch the soft cushions!
2004-12-23 07:13:32 AM
Well, you're all over reacting. I'm sure its just like the law we have here in the US. Where you can be naked in your house, as long as you can't be clearly seen.
Its one thing to be naked in your own house doing what you love to do best, "running free", but its another thing if you're naked, showing your goods out the front window while the neigborhood kids play and have a clear eye sight of said naked body. But if the only way for somebody to see you naked is by being 2 feet from the back yard window while hiding in the bushes at night, then your the one being violated, rather then you violating for being easly seen.
Saddly, the law doesnt see any differently between a shaved hot 20 year old girl and a fat old hairy man. One should be seen as much as possible, the other could make a blanket for a 3rd world country just from his pubic hair....
2004-12-23 07:27:44 AM
You've got to love the grift angle on this one. Now its not extortion, its "upholding the law"!
2004-12-23 07:36:30 AM
Axion22: These are the people who sacrified and ate eat other a couple hundred years ago.

That's some old-ass people, then. Yeah, anyone that old we probably don't want to see nekkid.
2004-12-23 08:52:52 AM

Venusian blinds?
2004-12-23 08:55:45 AM
I can see the sense in that... Some people should not be seen in the buff... my ex-wife was standing naked in front of the bedroom mirror one day when I walked into the room... "Look at me" she said... "I'm getting fat, my boobs are sagging, my butts slumped, I'm getting wrinkles and going grey... pay me a compliment!" I replied "Your eyesight is spot on!"
2004-12-23 08:59:49 AM
From Mexico on down to the Tierra del Fuego (sp?), politics is fascinating. Count the coups, intrigues, parties with ridiculous names. I love it!
2004-12-23 09:00:52 AM
im thinkin this town is controlled by the mexican catholics..Those people are BATSHIaT CRAZY, far crazier than any southern baptist IMHO.
