Tuning in Saturday for that one....

2004-12-21 12:55:57 PM
I can't wait to see this game. Shaq is going to own Kobe.

2004-12-21 12:57:47 PM
Now for some Shaq bashing. I like the man myself.

I think Kobe is a punk for bringing shaqs name into the whole rape thing.

/if you ever need to talk to the police, NEVER mention my name.

The classy way? Did the dude SEE his farking movies?

/No... No I wouldn't say it to his face.

Anybody else laughing at Shaq's picture?

I love it. The NBA is becoming more and more like pro wrestling every day. I just wish they would allow silver lame trunks and wrestling masks on the court.

That said, I hope Shaq learns him a lesson!

It scares the shiat out of me!

I don't follow the NBA at all...I just hear the headlines...thugs, drugs, rapes, etc.

Where does Shaq fit into all this? Is he a "nice" guy? I rarely, if ever, hear his name associated with this bullshiggity coming out of the NBA.

2004-12-21 01:37:46 PM
Shaq is overall a pretty cool guy. He has a lot of fun playing basketball and he rarely talks trash, but when he does, he breaks off a doozie like this one. I don't know anyone in the press or as basketball fans that don't like Shaq. He also stays away from the shiat that comes out of the NBA.

He's so cool that he even replaced the LAPD car that was destroyed when the Lakers won the Championship a couple of years ago.

2004-12-21 01:38:10 PM
If the Heat win against Boston and Sacramento they will have a chance to break their team record of consecutive wins when they play LA.

Take this from a disgruntled laker fan:

Shaq left because the lakers offered Kobe the MAX contract and they wouldn't give shaq 30 million a year for 4 years guaranteed...
forget all this bullshiat man, shaq should know he can't win a championship without kobe and vice versa...

2004-12-21 02:12:55 PM
Kobe should just threaten to bang him in a hotel. Chair optional.

2004-12-21 02:13:33 PM
I've been a shaq fan since i watched him break a goal at LSU when i was in middle school. It was awesome. obligatory baseketball quote:

Remer: "Alright dude, listen to me carefully. Do you think Shaq got rich playing in Orlando?"
Coop: "No, he got rich playing in college, everybody knows that."

2004-12-21 02:14:09 PM
Anyone else think Kobe will attempt to dunk on Diesel?

2004-12-21 02:14:15 PM
Say what you will about O'Neil...but that man cracks me up!

/for Shaq, not Kobe

2004-12-21 02:14:42 PM
miami can't offer him 30 million a year for 4 years... he will play somewhere else next year

how cute.

2004-12-21 02:18:19 PM
Kobe's immaturity shows...so who wants to be on a team with him?

/Shaq left for good reasons...any kid with keys to the kingdom will ruin it...Kobe has much growing up to do.

2004-12-21 02:18:33 PM
I have heard a lot of good stories about Shaq. Like how he helped out Mark Madsen when he was drafted. Went out and got him a car, hooked him up with a good real estate agent, showed him around town etc...

Shaq has said some pretty stupid stuff in his days, and I can't get over a 7'1" 350lb man complain about being fouled to much.

Aside from that, I got nothing bad to say about the guy.

2004-12-21 02:20:06 PM
forget all this bullshiat man, shaq should know he can't win a championship without kobe and vice versa...

Heat 19 and 7 on an 8 game win streak
Lakers 13 and 11 on a 2 game losing streak

/just saying

When asked if he had visited the Parthenon in Greece, Shaq replied, "I forget the names of the clubs we went to".

Otherwise he seems like an alright guy, Kobe is a punk.

"When asked if he had visited the Parthenon in Greece, Shaq replied, "I forget the names of the clubs we went to". "

I couldn't tell if he was joking or not when he said that, which made it even funnier.

"Shaq has said some pretty stupid stuff in his days, and I can't get over a 7'1" 350lb man complain about being fouled to much. "

I'm not the biggest fan of his game - he's a physical freak in that he's enormous and still somewhat agile, and by that I mean not much more agile than me. But most people that big are awkward as hell, so he's pretty unique. All that said, he does get beat on pretty mercilessly, because refs assume he can take it given his size.

2004-12-21 02:29:37 PM
Shaq?

2004-12-21 02:30:15 PM
I think both Kobe and Shaq are pole smokers. Shaq's only talent is being born freakishly large. His fundamental basketball skills still stink and he still sucks on the free throw line. I will admit he is rather quick for a man of his size but even that has started to dwindle since he became a porker and got older. Every week these guys have new shiat to say, its like watching two wrestlers cut a promo on Monday Night Raw instead of basketball.

// likes basketball
// hates arrogant assclowns

Muchos gracias to the editor of my submission. :)

I can't think of any other twosome I'd rather see annihilated in a an 'irresistible force meets immovable object' sort of way.

My money's on Shaq, though. Like a SLAM editor wrote, if Kobe tries to cram one on Shaq, he'll need a chiropractor soon after.

2004-12-21 02:32:37 PM
Shaq is so gonna get owned,

FREE THROWS ANYONE!?

In a fight, shaq would do bad bad things to kobe, in basketball, kobe is going to do much much worse things to shaq. That's just the way it is.

Kobe = Backdoor Boogeyman

You know, as far as the "pro wrestling" comment above goes, the media is at least as much to blame for it as the players.

In this interview with Shaq, Al Michaels was basically fishing for comments like this, and had to repeatedly ask questions like "what will you do when Kobe drives the lane" with Shaq answering "I haven't even thought about it" until finally Shaq gave him what he wanted and laid out a gem for him.

Then ESPN runs an article with "Shaq issues warning to Kobe" as the title like Shaq called a press conference and said he was going to tear Kobe a new one.

Sports "journalism" is a joke, but then again so is most mainstream journalism these days.

The new lakers are like the old magic - one star player who doesn't know how to play with his teammates isn't going to win titles.

Jordan was at least as abrasive as Kobe, but after a few years of flailing he realized he needed to make his teammates better, not just try to win a 1 on 5 game. Maybe it's not too late for Kobe to realize this? Who knows, but there isn't much indication he has learned it yet.

2004-12-21 02:45:24 PM
I predict Shaq will throw a beer at Kobe, and Kobe will punch a random skinny white guy in the 12th row.

2004-12-21 02:45:48 PM
Exerpt from Shaq interview.

Mumble mumble, blah blah.

Can that guy speak clearly for anything other than a candy bar commercial?

/can't ever hear what the hell he is sayin.

2004-12-21 02:48:34 PM
So by "brick wall" does Shaq mean the guy who showed up fat for every training camp - until after he left?

Or the guy who demanded more money than the highest salary ever - a year before his contract was up, while Malone and Payton played for reduced salaries?

Or the guy who still can't hit a free-throw, making him impossible to depend on in the fourth quarter?

Or the guy who couldn't guard Duncan?

Or the guy who delayed surgery to avoid playing more regular season games?

He's all class.

You know what, I can't stand ABC. I just saw their commercial hyping Saturday's rivalry games (Shaq/Kobe, Pacers/Pistons). TNT and ESPN (Yes I know ABC owns ESPN) have been faithfully showing basketball games all season and then when the big gems come, ABC decides to steal them and then run commercials talking about how great the NBA is and how you should watch the games on Christmas Day. Maybe if ABC showed some basketball games during the weekday instead of crap like Desperate Housewives, I'd tune in. But I'm not going to.

2004-12-21 02:54:22 PM
If I'm choosing one for my team, I don't give a hoot about off-court behavior.

You know, I'm pretty sure that it's an issue of contracts, not just that there are big NBA fans at TNT and ESPN that decide to show NBA games.

You pay big money to get sports content. Then you show it. ABC focuses on other programming - that's what they have ESPN for. It's a big marquee game, so they're showing it on their mainstream network and hyping the hell out of it.

"If I'm choosing one for my team, I don't give a hoot about off-court behavior."

Well, given the performance of the heat and lakers so far, choosing the rapist for on court performance would still be a mistake. Compare individual stats all you like, it's all about W's and L's.

And, if LA tries to bring in any better talent, how do you know Kobe won't just run them off like everyone else?

2004-12-21 02:59:27 PM
1. Cheat on your wife with a hotel clerk.
2. Acquire instant name recognition through rape allegations.
3. Profit!

If you're not a basketball fan and you read this article, which one would you think is the rapist?

To everyone that is calling Kobe a rapist... WE DON'T KNOW THAT!!!!

I mean the guy is just a run of the mill spoiled rich brat that cheats on his hot wife with random females. Cut the poor kid some slack, not everyone can have class.
