Okay. So now where is a good source for bittorrent files? I need the help of my fellow farkers before I continue weeping bitterly.

2004-12-19 01:40:54 PM
WTF!!! Why don't they just open source the website?

/Have no idea what I'm talking about

2004-12-19 01:41:18 PM
TorrentBits.org is dead too.

2004-12-19 01:41:24 PM
*cries*

2004-12-19 01:41:30 PM
I always thought usenet would be a great place to distribute .torrent files, but nobody else does.

2004-12-19 01:41:31 PM
www.torrentspy.com - I've been using www.ircspy.com for awhile, but their sister site takes the cake.

RIP Supernova - I hardly used ya

2004-12-19 01:42:05 PM

2004-12-19 01:42:20 PM

2004-12-19 01:42:43 PM
I think there are at least 5 other sites out there that have as much content as Suprnova. Slyck.com probably has a list.

2004-12-19 01:43:01 PM
NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Now where will I find legitimate backups for games I totally own?! *cough*

\Also bravo on headline

2004-12-19 01:43:10 PM
.. Well damn. There goes my hobby.

At least the headline was great.

2004-12-19 01:43:49 PM
Suprnova was bound to close. It was too well-known and easy for public users too access.

2004-12-19 01:44:08 PM
There's still dozens of sites, plus tons of edonkey links, plus NNTP, plus the new freenet.
It's temporary dint, that'll be replaced within a month.
No harm done.

2004-12-19 01:44:42 PM
Dammit! I had just started using Azeureus too. Need alternative!

2004-12-19 01:44:49 PM
woops! Thats empornium.us!!!

/still NSFW

2004-12-19 01:45:05 PM
Meh, Suprnova used public trackers; great way to get sued by someone. I prefer eDonkey over BT anyway.

One one hand, it *is* stealing. On the other hand, it's stealing from corrupt, slimy, crooked bastards who refuse to adapt to the times and update their business model.

So - if you steal from a thief, is it really so terrible?

2004-12-19 01:45:45 PM
Lame. Totally lame.

Awesome headline. Brava.

2004-12-19 01:46:02 PM
There's also this brand spanking new thing called IRC,I think it might catch on.
/The sky is falling.

2004-12-19 01:46:20 PM
Wow. I am simply shocked. And stunned.

/neither shocked nor stunned.

2004-12-19 01:46:43 PM
I just checked and lokitorrent still works. Whew

2004-12-19 01:46:45 PM
An alternative is to start buying your media.

Oh, sorry, I was just trying to be smarmy. I'm actually going to miss Suprnova.org too (because, as you know, ".com and .net are scammers.")

2004-12-19 01:46:55 PM
What a bummer, I used Suprnova all the time to get my pirated booty....

/hehe "booty"

2004-12-19 01:47:20 PM
I want to die.

/seriously

2004-12-19 01:47:41 PM
FREAKY!

I just went to suprnova.org for the first time in months and saw that the site was done.

So then I go to fark and see the story on it. I guess it just happened.

(I went there to try to get the last chunk of the last ep of Survivor. For some reason my DVR only recorded the first 2 hours but I guess there was some after that... I was out of the country :(

IRC is a great way to get all types of files I hang out in irc.undernet.org (Just the legal ones) hack cough

I want to die.

Try to take a few RIAA/MPAA executives and their lawyers with you on the way out, 'k?

Thanks for playing!

2004-12-19 01:48:39 PM
Maybe I'm off base here but I don't understand all the hub bub about torrents. The few times I've tried to use them, they're slow as hell. Really usenet is the only way

2004-12-19 01:48:55 PM
I called this when I discovered this site last year. Any p2p program that requires you to start downloading by finding a link on the web is a doomed program for piracy. Now on the other hand for legal things (firefox, linux isos etc.) its a great program. RIP suprnova.org :(

Care to explain your fuzzy logic there?

2004-12-19 01:50:16 PM
I feel as if I should care about this deeply, but I don't. That must make me a bad person.

It's a deal. I am the angel of death, the time of purification is at hand.

/you'll all be famous once this thread gets shown on CNN tomorrow

ah well, security groups monitor torrents anyway and will even send you an email telling you what you downloaded. happned to a friend of mine and we stopped usin em

No, you didn't screw up. The network execs deliberately post incorrect times specifically to screw up TiVo users.

It just takes them a while to get going (for me at least). After about 15 minutes most torrent links max out my connection. And for me usenet sucks! Download at my capped 120 KB/s on usenet or download at 500 KB/s using torrents, which is better?

The The Pirate Bay is still open... ARRRR

2004-12-19 01:51:54 PM
Eh, piracy is illegal, and I know, as a developer, that you really do need the $$ that a lot of companies charge to cover development costs.

On the other hand, M$ and some others I have 0 respect for anymore, and not only would I like to pirate their software, but also punch their executives in the face.
