2002-02-28 05:06:50 PM
First towelhead post.
2002-02-28 05:06:59 PM
All this for a SIMILAR NAME. Did someone say "paranoia"?

I can't imagine being a clueless passenger thinking "why the fark are we going this way? The gate is over there!"
2002-02-28 05:07:41 PM
The plane has been run out to the farthest end of the airport and is being surrounded by security vehicles.
MSNBC says the guys name closely matches a know terrorists name, but is not "exactly" the same.
It looks like they are going to board the jet with a mobile causeway and take the idividual and his travel partner off.

2002-02-28 05:09:03 PM
Nevermind, it's not really the name, it's because he kinda sorta looks like one of the guys on the most wanted list.
2002-02-28 05:09:09 PM
big ass convoy of vehicles just pulled away from the jet
2002-02-28 05:09:18 PM
'There may be a guy on there that we may want to talk to.'

2002-02-28 05:09:36 PM
better safe then sorry - the hell with his civil liberties
2002-02-28 05:10:26 PM
Wanted: John Smith

That should keep them busy for a while.
2002-02-28 05:10:57 PM

2002-02-28 05:12:50 PM
Canada has an AIR FORCE???

Isn't that some sort of treaty violation?
2002-02-28 05:13:47 PM
This is as funny as a bucket of pelicans.

Canada's jet fighters can still fly?
2002-02-28 05:14:39 PM
Canada's airforce is two loons and a riled-up moose.
2002-02-28 05:15:12 PM
Arrgh, somebody beat me to it with the crack about Canada's air force. Okay, here's the scoop...

We have F-18's. Ollld F'18's.
2002-02-28 05:15:56 PM
JonathanChance: Wow, did you think up that joke all by yourself? Or did you read it the other 7 times in the related thread posted earlier? Either way, you're as funny as Carrot Top!
2002-02-28 05:16:10 PM
Welcome to the party, Canadian Air Force Bashers.
Original thread was, oh... 3 to 4 hours ago.
2002-02-28 05:16:21 PM
Al Kaydia....hehehhehehehehhe
2002-02-28 05:16:41 PM
"better safe then sorry - the hell with his civil liberties"? Yeah, I'd just bet you'd say that when they pick up your ass. I know it sounds trite but if that's the attitude of citizens then the terrorists have accomplished a major goal.
2002-02-28 05:17:06 PM
I think its a good idea, nobody's rights were violated, just being precautios.
2002-02-28 05:17:39 PM
Check that. New info over the intelwire:

Two loons, a riled-up moose, and a squirrel in a leather barnstormer's cap...

Damn it all to hell, when will this arms-race madness end?
2002-02-28 05:17:56 PM
they wouldnt pick my ass up because im not a terroist and if they did they would let me go after questioning...minor inconvienance for one against the safty of many.
2002-02-28 05:18:23 PM
You don't need a bomb to blow up a plane anymore, just call the FBI, say it has been hijacked and wait for the Air Force to blow it out of the sky...
2002-02-28 05:19:03 PM
Longview: what are you talkin abooot, Canada has an airforce
2002-02-28 05:19:44 PM
is anybody watching the live feed.....what the hell is the plane doing? Taxing (sp?) in circles? And why is no one
2002-02-28 05:20:48 PM
This was the most asinine news story yet. We think there might be someone we might think could possibly have maybe known....
2002-02-28 05:21:03 PM
People are gonna feel pretty silly if it's nothing.
2002-02-28 05:25:20 PM
Canadian Air Force Jokes: Better never than late.
2002-02-28 05:25:32 PM
Not only did he have a similar name (it Arabic sounding...) I bet he's got a dark complexion and facial hair too. Oh, and he had shoes on, well all know how dangerous those things are...
2002-02-28 05:26:16 PM
Canadian Air Force? When did states get their own military?
2002-02-28 05:26:32 PM
i hope this guy sues the government for much moola.

farking safety inspectors.. not any worse than terrorists in distrupting people's lives.
2002-02-28 05:26:51 PM
Are the Canadians whinning about how they deserve to be terrorized too?
2002-02-28 05:27:34 PM
From a more rational news organization...

An Air India official, who asked not to be identified, said the incident was "blown completely out of proportion."

The U.S. military did not order the jet fighter escort, as it had done in several cases of threats or problems aboard airliners since September 11. And FBI sources downplayed the development, saying "you have to check things out."

"No one here is getting excited about this," an FBI spokesman said. "In an abundance of caution, we will have agents meeting the flight."

Btw, the FBI has been doing this for quite some time, it's nothing new.
2002-02-28 05:28:02 PM
yeah....sue people...good idea. that'll help things. I was inconvienanced and I need 20 mil.
2002-02-28 05:28:24 PM
"There may be a guy on there that we may want to talk to"

Well tole, bubba.
2002-02-28 05:28:58 PM
Hartfrog: Ben Franklin said: "Those who give up Liberty for Security deserve neither Liberty or Security". For what it's worth, he also had a huge swollen bag from some rare condition. I'm not saying they should just ignore every reported occurance..but are they just going to bring this guy in and ask him a few questions or are they going to crawl up his ass with a microscope and camp him in jail for a few months? Hmm, what a great way to get back at your enemies....just report them for looking a little like a terrorist.
2002-02-28 05:30:19 PM
I figure we go in there, shoot the terrorist, lose 20-25% of the hostages, tops. I can live with that.
2002-02-28 05:30:30 PM
I concur EZ.
2002-02-28 05:31:56 PM
Terrorism is pretty easy to conduct these days. Just look arab and get on a plane.
2002-02-28 05:32:52 PM
Of course they are gonna question the guy. What if he had been a terrorist? What if he crashed that plane into the Empire State Building? I can see it now, 2 months later..."US Authorities knew of possible terrorist onboard flight101, did nothing." Does that sound about right? Then what would happen? It was a PRECAUTION. We dont want to take any chances when all these lives are at stake.
2002-02-28 05:33:34 PM
do they serve beef on air india?
2002-02-28 05:35:13 PM
nobody said just let the guy go for chrissakes. But I wonder how rough a ride this guy is in for.
2002-02-28 05:35:13 PM
.....hilarity ensues
