- batteries? No because electricity is better
- bicycles? No because cars are faster
- interchangeable parts? No because I alway have leftover screws
- mayonnaise? Gross
- metric system? Sucks I like miles, inches and yards
- parachute? Why jump out of a perfectly good airplane
- the sewing machine? For sissys

wait wait wait. let me get this straight. You don't like batteries yet you like cars? Someone needs to brief you in about how a car is powered. It's not simply dumping magic black oil and then VROOM. As for airplanes, the parachutes are made for when they are not working....

and well no need to try and start about pasteur, you probably never drink milk and well it's not like you know what marie did anyway

And I damn near coughed up my drink. I also love the guys who try to stop the french bashing. Poor bastards will never win.

You are right

"Fighter jets roared overhead, leaving a trail of red, white, and blue smoke."
Um, I think it was more like "a trail of blue, white, and red smoke."

Vietnam: Another reason we got involved was because the French got their asses kicked at Dien Bien Phu by the Vietnamese.

Famous French defeats have come at the hands of: England, Germany, Spain, Russia, Belgium, Vietnam, Mexico (Cinco de Mayo, anyone?), and Hati. On deck: Ivory Coast.
Test your French Defeat knowledge.

It's manipulation of public sentiment to rally non-thinkers into supporting a cause regardless of the facts. In my humble opinion, that is wrong.

Of course, how else do you govern?

Out of curiousity, why don't you also burn the hair?

Sir Norman Foster must be the best architect working today, all his designs seem to be so beautiful. He designed this...

Ummm, weren't we talking about a bridge?

2004-12-14 02:13:01 PM
Awesome bridge. I remember seeing a TV show about it a month or so ago. Glad to see that it is now open.

I only wish we could build one 1/10 the size of that one right here in America, across the Potomac River.

/you may now continue with your france bashing

Wasn't a 2CV the car that Billy Joel crashed into a house on Long Island about a year ago?

That's one hell of an erection.

What? No! That's what you call it when you build a bridge, you sick'o.

2004-12-14 02:18:17 PM
well you can always burn the hair, but there's always chances that there's going to be some residue of DNA left here and there.. or since they are light, might be carried away (assuming that you are not doing a campfire in your basement (which I advise you against))

The thing with hair is that, basically, you simply cut it in little parts and either casually walk in a park, dropping it around so the wind will scather it or you go near a barber's shop and you throw it in a container

as for the teeth, you take a hammer and smash 'em to powder...

if you carefully conceiled all the evidence against you, have a good alibi and remembered to ALWAYS wear gloves especially when there's blood or contact with the human body(a full body suit would be better but far less easy to conceal), you should get away with a perfect murder.

no body, no evidence, no trial...

and the reason you ABSOLUTLY have to wear gloves is simple. Police stations & justice in generals have these special lamps that, when you put your hands under it, even if you washed your hand 20 times prior to it, will show in a blueish fashion if you went in contact with blood

Well my methods are complicated, but it's the difference between trying to kill a bear with a pocket-sized knife & a rpg...

sure, you might kill the bear with the pocket-sized knife, but then again chances are you'll fail in an horrible fashion.. sure, a rocket might seems a bit overboard, but then again unless you're dumb as a rock you are bound to eliminate the threat and stay safe

Sure sure, impressive bridge and whatnot. While flipping through their pictures, however, I found this:

sorry to interrupt the Saddam Hussein arguments....

If anyone's still interested in talking about bridges, I'm guessing this bridge is the tallest type of bridge that has tier supports. Here in WV, we have the New River Gorge bridge, which is tagged as the tallest single arch bridge. Anyone else know more about the criteria?

2004-12-14 02:31:15 PM
excuse me..the gorge bridge is not the tallest, nor the longest single arch bridge. It has been bested within the last 2 years.

I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet. Of course, I only skimmed the posts so I may have missed it. If you click on the "larger pic" thing, you can get a slide show. The second pic of the show is far more interesting than some French bridge.

Ouch

let's try:

1) Bringing back the notion of US vs THEM
2) Invading Iraq without proofs
3) Being arrogant about the rest of the world's will
4) Lying to the rest of the world
5) Unilateralism
6) Disrespect of the UN, Geneva & pretty much all conventions that matters
7) The Missile Shield

want me to go on?

But sure, you are right, beacon of intelligence

The French government has NOt been fully cooperating with the investigator, and neither has the US govt. We are both wrong, but again pointing this out does not change the fact that the French govt is up to its ass in dirty illegal actions which violated the UN mandates they claimed to hold so dead.

I refer you to the transcript of the Charlie Rose show in question. Where the chief investigator explicitly states that he is getting 100% cooperation from the French government and zero cooperation from the American government. Excuse me if I take his word over yours.

Chirac is scum, and you are a fool, living in a fog of ignorance. Wake up. hatred for Bush does not make your stance logical if that is what it is.

I assure you I don't hate anyone. Devotion to the truth is all that motivates me.

Okay...

Build a bridge...over dry land. Check

"Designed by British architect Norman Foster" juxtaposed against "a new emblem of French civil engineering" Check

"The bridge will serve as a symbol of 'a modern and conquering France'" - A little early to be celebrating the whupping they laid on Ivory Coast...but, hey it's France, throw 'em a bone. Check

Yep, it's all present an accounted for: fuel for France-bashing.

I wonder, given the close-up view of the guardrails on this bridge, what the planners have devised for the roadway litter that will fall that 891 feet to land upon the pate of Angry Pierre...

2004-12-14 02:47:26 PM
Wow, just WOW... Read the first 50 posts or so and almost everyone was mocking the french, "Bla bla white flags, bla bla bla surrender monkeys"....

Newsflash for all you lardasses over in the states. The french saved your fat asses in your little freedom war against the english. You would be saluting the union jack today if they had decided just to stand by and watch the english destroy your so called army at the time.

And you did not save them from the germans during WWII, you just did a little bit of mopping up after the soviets had crushed 95% of the German wermacht.

Was that the bridge that they jumped a Corvette from in the opening scenes of "XXX"?

how dare you divert from hollywood's version of history?

Everyone knows it's Tom Hanks that singlehandedly defeated the germans!

OK, a brit designed it, but it was still the French who put it all together.

Build a bridge...over dry land. Check

See earlier posts, lots of hills and small towns in the way.

"The bridge will serve as a symbol of 'a modern and conquering France'" - A little early to be celebrating the whupping they laid on Ivory Coast...but, hey it's France, throw 'em a bone. Check

OK, a dumb thing for the guy to say, but I'm sure he was talking about culturally or economically conquering, not militarily (that a word?).

\Not defending it, just saying

\\Damn cool bridge
