I posted this in a TF thread yesterday asking about past Christmas cards that TFs had created, but it seems appropriate here, so I'll go ahead and repost it here. As I said in that thread, this was the Christmas card that I made and sent out for 2003. Some recipients took offense, improperly interpreting it as making fun of the story of Jesus, which it was not intended to do. It was intended to be a commentary on the Bush administration's actions in the Middle East and how they would react to the nativity story if it occurred today, but that point was lost on a few people. So it fits in with this thread.

Well, it was a virgin birth.
Or, at least, lots of virgins believe that it was.

Mithra was a god that was worshipped by the Persians thousands of years ago. He was born on December 25 in a stable of a virgin mother and god father. His birth was witnessed by shepherds and magicians [magi], who brought him gifts. Mithra raised the dead and healed the sick and cast out demons. He returned to heaven at the spring equinox and before doing so had a last supper with his 12 disciples (representing the 12 signs of the zodiac), eating mizd, a piece of bread marked with a cross (an almost universal symbol of the sun). Any of that sound familiar?
