I would expect that I could manage perfectly well on $100US per week... in fact, I'd love to be able to spend that much on my two kids..

well...let's put it this way...I figured what I'd pay in child support...and it was about $1000 a month. To some degree that might be unfair...if the mother didn't manage it. Otherwise, it could be just right.

The intent is to give the child the same quality of life they would have had if both parents were together. Of course, there is really no way to put a dollar value on that.

Yeah, but how much needs to be spent on the kid, and how much would the mother spend on herself?

Seems to be just a tad unfair...

"the only thing which should have been at issue was whether he was the father"

The CHILD SUPPORT and custody laws do not look at whether you consented to be a parent--for either party. Whether the conception happened by rape doesn't affect the mother's legal rights or responsibilities either.

Now, this IS an issue for a rape case, and the guy should make a police report so the DA can press charges.

And I know it isn't PC to say this, but men are raped rather more than we like to admit. Usually, though, the perps are "straight" men.

Thank you, Mythago...'consent' is not the issue in child support. The child's needs exist regardless of consent...

reality check: it is commonly viewed that "men don't get raped" because you have to have an erection, and you've got to spurt. this means: SPURT YOUR JIZZ. this means that a guy who is horrified, disgusted, victimized, etc, should, at least in theory, not be getting a full-on boner and/or SPURTING if he finds the situation undesirable.

makes sense, right? unlike women, who have a god damn hole (some men put their dicks in socks and couch cousins, remember), men require a bit more excitement just to do it. i'm no expert on being-soft-while-having-sex, but I'll bet it's pretty hard to do it without a boner.

opposite that, I do realize that men have boners pretty easily... so I think cases of "rape" can justifyably exist if the guy is either (a) really farking drunk or (b) tied up.

that's it.

"In theory" maybe. In fact, sometimes the boner doesn't necessarily cooperate with what the owner is thinking.

yes means no?

Mythago,

thank you.

Research has proven that men can get an erection from pure abject fear. Or confusion. Or any number of conditions which do not in any way indicate sexual arousal or consent. And unlike what is commonly understood about women (I am not necessarily saying what is commonly understood is true), sex can be purely mechanical for men. If the glans of the penis is stroked sufficiently, ejaculation will occur. Although there is pleasure typically attached to this process, it is not necessarily a man's willingness, mood, or desire which creates the potential for ejaculation. It is friction, pure and simple. If the penis is erect, and sufficient friction occurs (assuming this friction is not coming from sandpaper), ejaculation will follow. In some cases, it can even happen independently of climax. Bummer.
