Freezing her dog: mandatory 1 year sentence.

Being a dumbass: life.

2004-12-04 07:40:03 PM
She wanted a new frozen dog?!?! Sorry, that was my first thought.

Anyway, poor puppy!

2004-12-04 07:41:25 PM
Putting people in jail for cases like this is stupid. Just don't let her adopt or get a license for another dog or cat for some number of years.

2004-12-04 07:41:53 PM
What an asshole.

Mr. Praline: Never mind that, my lad. I wish to complain about this parrot what I purchased not half an hour ago from this very boutique.

Owner: Oh yes, the, uh, the Norwegian Blue...What's,uh...What's wrong with it?

Mr. Praline: I'll tell you what's wrong with it, my lad. 'E's dead, that's what's wrong with it!

Owner: No, no, 'e's uh,...he's resting.

Mr. Praline: Look, matey, I know a dead parrot when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now...

Animal Cops on Animal Planet = awesome

This show made me realize just how ignorant some people can be and how their poor animals suffer.

This thread is useless without pics.

/obvious.

Mine think they're suffering if the electric blanket isn't on.

Oh, and Sergeant Tux: If she's that careless with a dog, it's a cinch she's careless with her kids, too.

2004-12-04 07:44:53 PM
Man, that is just sad. Who are these people and how do they sleep at night???

Hey, Sergeant, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss jail terms for people who abuse animals. If that's how she treats her dog, I wonder how she treats her kids?

I'd tell her to take the dog home, thaw it, and wait a couple of days for it to revive itself.

2004-12-04 07:51:40 PM
"Yeah, ahhh, I'll take a new dog, couple o' dem kittens over there, and uhh, I dunno, whata ya got in the hamster/gerbil area"

Asshat. These things are alive, at least pretend to care.

She needs a shotgun blast to the lower abdomen.

Oh, this is crap - the poor woman's been robbed blind.

If you had a car and the darned thing wouldn't start in the cold, the garage you bought it from would make good.

Why should it be any different with dogs?

2004-12-04 07:58:43 PM
Wierd? Needed a Sick or Dumbass tag. This woman is either heartless or retarded.

2004-12-04 07:59:38 PM
Freeze her in carbonite.

2004-12-04 08:01:52 PM
I am an animal lover and not one to usually laugh at something so grim... but man, the visual I'm getting from this article is making me giggle uncontrollably. She should still be beaten, however.

2004-12-04 08:06:02 PM
I'm surprised the people at the animal shelter didn't throw her in with some of the less friendly dogs.

2004-12-04 08:06:44 PM
even if it wasn't freezing ouitside you can't just leave a dog for a few days alone. pets are like children, they depend on you for everything. should she face charges if she would have just set the dog on fire? freezing to death is slow and very painful.

2004-12-04 08:07:26 PM
Rindy said far too many pet owners say the frigid temperatures can and do kill pets.

huh?

2004-12-04 08:08:53 PM
Some people shouldn't be allowed to look at a dog, let alone own one.

2004-12-04 08:09:37 PM
Fire up the electric chair for this biatch.

/ dry sponge

2004-12-04 08:10:24 PM
They should have told her to put in in the Microwave on the Defrost setting for 5 min if it's a chihuahua, 10 for a great dane and everything should be OK

2004-12-04 08:12:19 PM
She should die. Slowly and painfully.

Just my opinion.

2004-12-04 08:17:11 PM
The worst part is that she didn't know that animal cruelty is wrong. Or she just didn't care.

Actually iirc, freezing isn't that bad a way to go.

The woman should be severely punished, certainly. But I'm not sure that jailing her for a year (at what? $30,000 expense to the taxpayer in minimum security?) is the best way. Really heavy fines and not allowed to own an animal larger than a pet tick for 10 years, maybe...

2004-12-04 08:24:39 PM
Make her take care of sick dogs for a year.

IMO, non-vegetarians in this thread that are complaining about how this dog was treated should STFU.

Millions of animals die, in mostly non humane ways, so we can all have burgers for lunch instead of a salad. Is our food preference a better reason for killing than laziness/negligence/stupidity?

Meh. Animal cruelty is overblown. You make the choice to value trivial human conveniences over the lives of animals, then stick to it and don't be a hypocrite.

AndreMA:

and how do you propose guaranteeing that she doesn't own a pet for that length of time? monitoring? well that'll cost $$$. when she's found with a pet (and i assure you, she will...she doesn't understand what owning a pet entails...she thinks its a belonging), then what? send her to jail? we're right back where we started.

send the biatch to jail now...it'll save money in the long run.

Yes, you dumbass, because being an omnivore isn't simply a "preferance," it is a biological design. We need to eat to survive, whereas laziness/negligence/stupidity is purely optional.

I'll just quote what you said and let your dumbass-ery stand on its own. There are cogent arguments to be made against my original post, but yours is miles away from one.

Fark off and die. Pets are in a vastly different catagory than food animals. And you know what? Fark you for commenting on what I choose to eat - I happen to like burgers. You don't like it? That's fine. Whine about it all you like but i'm not gonna change my diet just to make your hippee tree hugging self feel better about life.

God I hate uppity vegans.

She needs to be left outside in the same temps without a coat, food, water or human companionship for the same amount of time. If she makes it, put her to sleep in the gas chambers at the humane society in the twin cities.

Actually, that wasn't me. I know how to spell "preference."

I had put in my password and was about to comment that we always let our dogs in if the temp went below freezing. Then I got called away from my desk, and a "helpful" officemate decided to make my entry for me.

So I apologize for my lack of security awareness and his abundance of farktardness.

I'm not so sure what point you are trying to make, but "pet ownership" has nothing to do with being a meat eater or not. It often has to do with the fact that, like me, many people (but, sadly, not quite enough) adopt dogs in order TO SAVE THEM FROM A HELLISH LIFE. My own German Shepherd was left to die in a field AS A FREAKIN' PUPPY! After months of rehab, you'd never know that he was on deaths door when someone found and RESCUED him. He's now over two years old and I should be in as good health as he is (fact is, I am...and I owe a lot of it to him forcing me to play ball with him a lot after I get home from work). Those people who get pets and don't care for them should be heavily fined, I wish it would be that way. This lady should be evaluated by a psychologist to see why she's so F'k'd up...and callous.

/I give no quater when it comes to people who buy or adopt pets only to ignore them. >:(

Heh heh ho ha HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA...!!!

Lemme just switch a few words around here...

Millions of plants die, in mostly non humane ways, so we can all have salads for lunch instead of burgers. Is our food preference a better reason for killing than laziness/negligence/stupidity?

Plants have feelings too.

You sir, are an asshat.

Geez, you need a licence to drive but you don't need a licence to have a dog. Wait, what?

2004-12-04 08:55:32 PM
Why the fark do so many people freak out about dogs dying? So she can't care for a dog? Don't let her have another one. I honestly don't believe that people should be charged for animal cruelty unless they purposefully torture an animal.

First point... Coyotes live outside all the time, and they're like dogs. Just because I know that pet dogs are different doesn't mean that everyone does. I can reasonably see how someone could leave a dog outside in 20 degree weather with food and water and assume that it will be okay.

Second point... If I force my child to eat something that will make him sick, that's child abuse. If I don't cook a hamburger well enough, and my child eats it and gets sick, it's an accident, not abuse.

It's sad when something like this happens, but why do so many people want to form a lynch-mob and harm the person responsible? It's just a dog, an animal. We eat them all the time. It's wrong to torture them, but their lives really aren't worth much. If this woman honestly didn't mean to kill her dog, regardless of how stupid she was, is what she did any worse than accidently hitting an animal on the road?
