I guess Drew is out of jail now?
2002-02-26 01:44:23 PM
Did she still get her $5 a day for jury duty pay?
2002-02-26 01:44:42 PM
She's really stupid. Local radio quoted the judge telling her he would have let her go on vacation if she had only asked, even if it was the day before she was supposed to leave.
2002-02-26 01:45:08 PM
Nice! She thought that they could use the alternate? Sorry, but the time to "opt out" of Jury Duty is quite a while before going on vacation!

"You'll have to sit there for seven days with all of the other knuckleheads up there"

Well, she already sat with the knuckleheads who served jury duty, might as well get some variety.
2002-02-26 01:48:32 PM
Maybe she will weave the judge a basket as repentance.

"Deliberations resumed Monday without Fiorini after the defense agreed to continue with 11 rather than 12 jurors"

I guess the defense was hoping that her knuckleheaddedness is contagious and that some of the other jurors caught it rather than risk a new jury.

Stupid chicks put out.

How to avoid jury duty 101
Tell the judge your OK with jury duty as long as there wont be any "coloreds" on trial. You'll be out of there in time for lunch.

Also good for getting out of jury duty, say:

I hate insurance companies.

Cops never lie.
2002-02-26 02:01:47 PM
Now that's funny!
2002-02-26 02:10:24 PM
One more reason to keep my nose clean. I'm terrified at the prospect of a jury of my peers.
2002-02-26 02:24:51 PM
"Many people think they have to lie to get out of jury duty. You don't have to lie; tell the judge the truth. Tell him you'll make a real good juror because you can spot guilty people just by looking at them. Explain that it has to do with how far apart their eyes are. I guarantee you'll be out of the courtroom before you can say, "justice stinks."
2002-02-26 02:27:08 PM
OK I know you all probably heard this but the best was to get out of jury duty is to tell the judge you would make a fine juror because you can spot a guilty person a mile away. You'll be out of there in no time. But in all seriousness I recently served jury duty and judges do not play around when it comes to wasting their time. Some people got dismissed because they had some lame excuse like they had their purse snatched out of the car 10 years ago and they might have a problem deciding if someone is guilty of eluding the police. Crazy I know but the judge just doesn't have time for these people. Me personally I wanted to be on jury duty. Not only did I not have to go to work but work still paid me and the court paid me. The unfortunate part is that at the time it was only $5/day that the court paid and they raised it to $35/day a week after I served. Murphy's Law.

I served 10 days at $35/day, and still got paid by my regular employer.

And had a shorter commute too. Of course, I was bored off my ass, but still.

I knew it was from Cincinnati. I knew it, I knew it, I knew it.

That place has no redeeming value whatsoever - except as a cow exercise yard.

This chick is probably one of those spoiled IAP's that never listened to anyone when they say something that they dont agree with. Probably got a Celica when she graduated from high school.

In Pennsylvania, even if you don't set on a jury, you still have to stay in the courthouse waiting room all week.

That biatch got off easy, considering her self-centered bullshiat attitude.

If I were the juidge, she would be spending 1 week in jail for each day she was gone. Plus all related court expenses (warrants, hearing, etc.) PLUS triple the amount she spent on her vacation in fines. Stupid biatch.
2002-02-26 03:34:09 PM
Ya know... if they really do pay 35 bucks a day for Jury Duty, I might not use the "I can spot guilty people from a mile away" line, that's alot of money for just sitting down and watching a trial.

2002-02-26 03:47:54 PM
They couldn't continue with 11 people when she was on vacation but they throw her ass in the slammer for a week and now 11 is OK?

The one time I was called for jury duty, the judge gave the usual speech and then commented that FIJA (fully informed jury association) was telling lies out front. I told the judge I believed in FIJA (I do) and would perform my jury duites accordingly. The judge said "no, you have to do what I say" and so I then told him I believed FIJA over him. I was dismissed.

One redeeming value might be that it's not Missouri.
2002-02-26 04:07:13 PM
What a RETARD.
2002-02-26 04:07:47 PM
I find it scary that you get arrested because you don't want to do something stupid like jury duty. Sounds like terrorism to me. YOU MUST DO IT BECAUSE THIS IS THE USA!!! IF YOU DON'T DO WHAT WE SAY WE WILL THROW YOU IN JAIL EVEN IF YOU'VE NEVER DONE ANYTHING BAD IN YOUR LIFE!!! Maybe not terrorists, maybe just nazi's.
2002-02-26 04:08:17 PM
Sorry, I just gave retards a bad name.
2002-02-26 04:11:20 PM
Rubix: You are as much of a dumbass as she is. It IS part of your civic duty to be a juror if called upon.

You gimp.
2002-02-26 04:25:23 PM
I don't give 2 shiats about any of you. If i get called for jury duty i sure as hell am not showing up. Farking sheep.
2002-02-26 04:28:31 PM
I agree with Matzug. Jury duty is a civic responsibility and should be performed by everyone. I want to serve on a jury, preferaby a grand jury so I can tell the prosecutor to kiss off when I disagree, but the legal system doesn't WANT intelligent and/or thinking people on juries. They want mindless automatons (although an occassional non-idiot slips past) who will do what they're told. But going on vacation in the middle of deliberations was really stupid.
2002-02-26 04:35:25 PM
Sure she was stupid for not saying she was going on vacation. But if they said i couldn't go (i know the judge said she would have been able to) i would still go. If anything, my purpose on a jury duty would be to make it last as long as possible wasting as much government money cause a hung jury. Farking waste of time.
2002-02-26 04:48:14 PM
I've never had to stay for jury duty.

Why do you think that is?

Slayer, work is really stressing me out today so I gotta get some amusement somewhere 'cuz it sure ain't happenin' here...
2002-02-26 05:40:35 PM
That is, not happening at work.
2002-02-26 08:44:31 PM
Big deal. The O.J. Jury was on vacation during the whole trial and they didn't even go anywhere.
