I can tell you from experience that if you travel on thanksgiving or christmas, chances are your flight will be delayed.

For my next trick I will look into my crystal ball and tell you how obese Rosie O. is...in real time.

Wow, wish I could bookmark this for all the computers I use in some manner.
Might be useful in the coming winter months.

Slightly off-topic, but keyhole.com's application is very cool -- they've assembled aerial photos into a full detail map of the world. (It's better than it sounds.)

Keyhole rocks!

2004-11-29 01:47:02 PM
pretty cool...

Traffic up 91 to Vermont was not so bad. The only delay was due to a need for libations.

2004-11-29 01:47:13 PM
PHX is delayed by the following:

" Due to VOLUME, SNOWBIRD, "

to two different locations... is it a coincidence both of these are florida destinations? :)

Cool. A replacement for my Flight Simulator for DOS. Where do I plug in my Lappy 486 to play this game?

If only Dick Ebersol had this before his little accident, he might have decided to fly commercial.

Yawn.

Go check out www.rlmsoftware.com -- they've got the juice over there. Flight-by-flight real time info.

It's like Sigalert.com but for planes!

sweet.

All... orange.

How useless.

God bless America, I am never flying again.

i have been using this for a few years -- excellent bookmark to add to your browser

I remember checking it out on wednesday night before thanksgiving and the whole country was green, contrary to reports i had heard about travelling

Shiftless - you have to zoom in on a region - dumbass

2004-11-29 02:19:24 PM
DAMMIT! I totally wrote the code for this EXACT same thing two years ago for Lockheed Martin. They lost the post-9/11 contract, and I got laid off!!! F*CK!

I spent a lot of time on that too dammit.

WhiskeyBoy:

I totally wrote the code for this EXACT same thing two years ago for Lockheed Martin.

And your version realizes there are more than twenty airports.

I wonder if O'Hare ever turns green....every time I fly through there I'm delayed.

2004-11-29 02:34:06 PM
True Value

only time O'Hare has the slightest chance of turning green is on St. Pattys Day...

2004-11-29 02:35:12 PM
Due to WEATHER, LOW CIGS, there is a Traffic Management Program in effect for traffic arriving Chicago OHare International Airport, Chicago, IL (ORD).

Wow, planes are being delayed because someone's low on cigs!

badum pssh!

2004-11-29 02:40:28 PM
Hahaha beat me to it dogas

2004-11-29 02:53:12 PM
Even more useful: you can track individual flights or all flights into a particular airport

2004-11-29 02:56:10 PM
I feel sorry for you if you live in Sioux City.

The code (SUX) says it all....

2004-11-29 02:56:37 PM
Somebody, quick, give me a flight to track right now....

You're probably being the jokester, but CIGS = ceilings

"Real-time airport status information. If only you had this last week"

Why? Because if everyone knew about this last week, they would have packed their bags quicker or they would have cancelled the flight to grammas house? It wouldn't have changed much of anything.

2004-11-29 03:18:45 PM
TEB? Man, that's a tiny airport to be on this page with the big hubs.

2004-11-29 03:19:46 PM
It's like being the traffic reporter.

Here let me tell you what it will say:

"It' all screwed up, it's always screwed up. Take whatever we tell you and double it. Add twelve. Multiply by the universal don't give a fark constant. Subtract the number of wasted hours in your life you will not get back divided by the weight of the bull neck security prick who wants to cup your balls."

2004-11-29 03:20:09 PM
My weapon of choice:

2004-11-29 03:21:40 PM
There is also a link to security checkpoint wait times, but it is all farked up. I checked a couple of my normal flight times from Dulles and the early am one where there is no wait ever, showed a 5 to 15 min wait. The Monday afternoon query showed a 1 to 5 min wait...BS....there are about 20 major International flights leaving mid afternoon from Dulles, average wait times are more like 30 to 45 mins. Nice idea, but I hope no one actualy relies on that one to plan their timing.

2004-11-29 03:24:37 PM
Hmm, this is no good!
Current status for DFW:

General Departure Delays: Due to AIRCRAFT EMERGENCY, traffic is experiencing Gate Hold and Taxi delays between 16 minutes and 30 minutes in length and increasing.

2004-11-29 03:32:56 PM
why hasn't anyone suggested that this site should be taken down and the information on it should be restricted?

After all This could be used by Terrorists!

I am not saying that such a reaction would make sense, just that I am surprised not to have seen one yet.

"Due to WEATHER, LOW CIGS, departure traffic destined to ORD is subject to a ground delay program"

It looks like they are running out of Marbs at Ohare.

2004-11-29 04:34:34 PM
"We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."

"Then I think we're awfully low on cigs."
