Sorry if this is being posted multiple times, but the cgi server's being gay and I wanna make sure it gets thru.

Looking at those screenshots, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that, like snood, this is gonna be another puzzle bobble wannabe.

shiat, people, play the originals! They kick these gay clones' asses! Download Kawaks @ kawaks.retrogames.com and get the roms @ mame.dk and classicgaming.com/vault

Sheeeeeeit.

How long until someone cracks the registration?

2002-02-25 07:03:38 PM
We'd prefer it if you didn't crack the registration. :-)

Looks amazing, is a web version in the works?

2002-02-25 07:18:27 PM
Yup, we're working really hard on the web version so people can play for free as long as they want!

Kudos to you and your lil' web site Homeslice.

Great site Homeslice, although I think it's part of a larger plot for Argentina to destroy America.

Step one, Put Madonna in Evita
Step two, popcap games destroy american productivity.
Step three ??????

I'd play but I'm still cow flinging.

Homeslice might be the best farker name yet, BUT

If you're going to put the game on the web, why did you make the download version registered? I don't mean to complain, all popcap games I've played have rocked, and to someone they might be worth $20, but it seems like an interesting business plan.

If you're so good at making games (and you are), then why not make sponsored games, or sell sponsorships to your games. Instead of Bejeweled, it could be different brands of Coca-cola, or instead of Dynomite, you could shoot different types of Hershey's candy.

Hey, Chex Quest rocked the hizzouse. I think there's money there.

Well Batman42, the web games are used to attract people. People at work, or people who don't have the time or desire to download and install a game. They also exist on the web so as to allow people the easiest possible way to get in the game. This way the "mass-market", e.g. people who aren't hard-core computer users, can easily play our games.

After addicting them to the web games they're more likely to download and install the windows games.

That's our business model in a nutshell.

The reason we don't do ad games is because it's a lot of work for not a lot of money really. We prefer to stick with a simpler model where we interact directly with a customer.

As for the other comments about the games...

Argentina: I'm no longer there.. :-( I am in Seattle again and the rest of PopCap is stateside as well. I guess that means we're on the side of Starbucks.

Copying: In all honesty, games are all derived from other games to one extent or the other. Much like any creative field there are very few 100 % original things. See also: books, hollywood, music.

Anyone have any feedback about things they liked in the game? Things they didn't like? Things they hated or loved?

Tetris wasn't copied from anyone, and I didn't like that it wanted to force me to register after only one execute.

Uninstalled. Buh-bye.

It looks interesting, Homeslice! Will there be a Web version?

Never mind. I'm too busy being unproductive to realize someone already asked the same question as me. :)

Homeslice:

I think its an excellant game and I've already played it for 3½ hours today. Let's see, 3½ hours x's $31.71 / hour = $110.99! I have wasted over $100 of the county's money today [omegacerberus=civil servant]

That means out of the county's sales tax rate of 5.5% I have pissed away the county's hard earned tax for $2000 worth of merchandice... damn!

At $110 its still a below average day.

Homeslice, how about some original games? I'd rather see one decent original game (i.e. alchemy, atomica) than 20 great copies. You don't have to invent a new genre, just gotta make something new within the same one... Not terribly easy to come up with new ideas, granted, but I imagine you prolly could with the effort you would have wasted on those 20 great copies. :)
