I didn't read anything about him being in custody.
2002-02-25 10:06:36 AM
Damn, still no detail. This is why I don't trust the Bush propaganda machine....
2002-02-25 10:07:58 AM
or the FBI propaganda machine
2002-02-25 10:08:09 AM
The war against EastAsia is in our favor!

Double Plus good!
2002-02-25 10:08:55 AM
They should inject him with it.....
2002-02-25 10:09:25 AM
Yeah, it only said they knew who the chief suspect was. Anyways, in the previous article it said they wouldn't arrest him because he knew government secrets that they couldn't afford to be let out.

Solution: Arrest him then kill him.
2002-02-25 10:13:38 AM
I say bust him and put him in an interrogation room. Flood the room with anthrax spores. The rest will take care of itself.
2002-02-25 10:14:25 AM
they know of a suspect, they don't have him in custody
2002-02-25 10:15:45 AM
"Five people ended up dying after anthrax was found in letters sent to Florida, New York, Connecticut and Washington last fall."

Really? When did this happen? Next they'll be telling us the WTC fell down or something.
2002-02-25 10:19:03 AM
Jayson Williams planning on turning himself in today too. Hmmmmm coincidence?
2002-02-25 10:19:32 AM
I suggest we build a federal "Arena of Judgement".
2002-02-25 10:19:34 AM
How come Yahoo has the only source on this. MSNBC or CNN did not report on this. This is an AP article, but I would like to see it on a couple other sources before I believe it.
2002-02-25 10:21:37 AM
I heard it on NPR this morning.
2002-02-25 10:23:41 AM
Similar report off drudge a few days ago too...
2002-02-25 10:23:57 AM
Wonder what this guy is doing right now...

probably in the crawlspace blubbering like a three-year old
2002-02-25 10:24:01 AM
Can it have chain saws like in Thunderdome?
Thunderdome of Justice...
2002-02-25 10:24:13 AM
The first article that this article is a followup to wasn't from yahoo.
2002-02-25 10:26:46 AM
Perhaps we should lock him in a room and make him watch the latest Rollerball for the next 50 years.
2002-02-25 10:28:31 AM
Sources say he was fired twice from government jobs and had reportedly made a threat to use anthrax
following the Sept. 11 attacks.

Fired twice??? From Government jobs??? Wonder which lucky contractor has this loser.
2002-02-25 10:34:31 AM
How in the hell does anyone get fired from a government job? And twice? Here in So. Calif. you damn near have to be caught farking the pidgeons in the public square at high noon to be fired from a government job. Performance? I regularly have to poke government employees to see whether they are asleep or just dead...
2002-02-25 10:35:34 AM
They should lock him in a of those rooms with the mirrored glass and stadium seating on the other side.

Next they hook him up to a lie detector machine.

Then they send a robot in with a pile of military grade anthrax on a plate. Set the plate in front of him and ask him if it smells familiar.

Record his answer along with the results from the lie detector.

End of test.
2002-02-25 10:43:06 AM
Oh yeah, there will be chainsaws. And chains heated until they glow red. And most definitely there will be the pathway of the damned, created from the bones of the guilty, leading to the high seat where John Ashcroft will hold the Blade of Justice and the Flask of Inexorable Judgement..

Sat October 13, 2001:
Reuters (Newsflash) Cheney: Al Queda behind Anthrax

How quickly you all forget that you spent hours talking about how Al-Queda was obviously behind this.

Throws all you racial profilers arguments a bit out of the window.

Made in the USA.

Propaganda... Interesting word....

"....we can see that in its true sense propaganda is a perfectly legitimate form of human activity. Any society ... which is possessed of certain beliefs, and sets out to make them known ... is practicing propaganda"
- "Propaganda" by Edward L. Bernays, NY: Horace Liveright, 1928; page 22

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country."
- "Propaganda" by Edward L. Bernays, NY: Horace Liveright, 1928; page 9

Bernays is acknowledged by those "in the know" as the father of modern public relations, advertising... and propaganda.

The book is fascinating, a real eye-opener. Liberals and other people allergic to facts are urged to avoid it. Wow...more deception from the US government? Whoda thunk it, harmonia?

He's just a patsy set up by the government to deflect unwanted anti-arabic hatred.

Ms Cleo told me so, it has to be true.

Jeezus...get all that mangled HTML offa me!
2002-02-25 10:53:51 AM
Throws all you racial profilers arguments a bit out of the window.

Blame the U.S. news media for that one. In spite of all their rants concerning so-called "racial profiling," they did it anyway. Not surprising.
2002-02-25 10:57:19 AM
I'm tired of the Yahoo! Propaganda machine.

Harmonia...I was stationed on a Submarine when the Federal Building was bombed in OK City. We were all gung-ho to go over and "tag us some Ragheads" then too. Yes it was wrong, but speaking only for myself it was easier to believe that someone from a foreign country would do it before an American Citizen.
2002-02-25 10:57:22 AM
now if we could just find out who's responsible for metallica, we would have some real criminals on our hands.
2002-02-25 10:59:27 AM
Harmonia: You are arguing from a fallacy. What you put forward is a false dilemma or a black/white fallacy. Just because the perpetrator might be an American does not necessarily mean that there are no non-Americans who are capable of the act.

Ummm... for those who don't know how to concantinate a long URL, try this:ropagand a
2002-02-25 11:02:33 AM
Hate to burst anyone's bubble, but the FBI released a profile about the suspect months ago and said it was probably an American, and didn't say anything about the suspect being Middle Eastern. So maybe some people jumped to the wrong conclusion, but the fact that the chief suspect is an American citizen should not be a surprise, if you were paying close enough attention.
2002-02-25 11:04:13 AM
And while I'm at it, Crazy Newbie, I think you've committed a hasty generaliztion. Dick Cheney initially says it's al Qaeda, therefore all Americans believe the same thing. I think not.
2002-02-25 11:07:24 AM
Hey, Diogenes, be careful with that logic stuff. Dangerous!
2002-02-25 11:10:20 AM
This device will definitely be used:

This is the same FBI who can't find Whitey Bulger?
2002-02-25 11:11:47 AM
In a unrelated note:
I just got back from visiting Hoover Dam. They had a military "roadblock" to get in. It consisted of a MP leaning out a booth to check if you were Arab. I saw one Arab family waved to the side where some other guys were waiting.
Gosh I'm glad I'm white.
2002-02-25 11:34:15 AM
Diogenes Did somebody just buy you 'Logic for Dummies?' What was the premise of my statement? Do you know what a 'premise' is? You are not competent to make reasonable inferences from my statements, so why don't you just stick to what is actually written, ok?

I was pointing to the associated thread where your farker buddies (all with farkIDs under 10,000 I'm sure) ranted about 'those dirty A-rabs.' It was a note addressed to people who jump to conclusions. Maybe you could learn something about that.

I must admit that it is rather satisfying to see an American caught for this act, after we who did not jump to conclusions had to listen and endure all the 'wise' farkers (all with farkIDs under 10,000 i'm sure) tell us that it couldn't be an American.

I think you wouldn't be so defensive if you didn't feel guilty about your own hasty prejudgements. Take a chill pill and learn to think.
2002-02-25 11:39:41 AM
Bookman, why do people always characterize liberals as holding viewpoints that stand in conflict with "truth"?
If you think the alternate viewpoints espoused by those determined to counter liberal opinions are somehow more concrete "facts", I must disagree.
Facts themselves are just that. It's the intepretation that counts.
But I agree with the whole idea behind propaganda that you mention. By the way, I'm just expressing my frustration, because I visited my aunt this weekend and she listens to approximately 175,000 hours of ultra-conservative radio programs a day, with a few advertisements for the ultra-essential "How to survive in your anti-federal compound when the liberals come to take away your guns" manual.
2002-02-25 11:40:04 AM
Your ass is behind you, just below waist level.
2002-02-25 11:41:34 AM
I could have sworn we were at war with EurAsia. Whats that? Ministy of Love? Ok, I'll be right over.
2002-02-25 11:42:03 AM
Bookman: you run a bookstore?
2002-02-25 11:47:55 AM
Eddie - I'm looking directly at what you wrote. You said "you all". You didn't bother to draw any distinctions between those who might have known better than to draw hasty conclusions about the culprit. So your premise is that all Farkers jumped to the same hasty conclusion - and that's the fallacy. I studied symbolic logic for over 6 years. Trust me, I know what a premise is. Do you?

I'm not feeling guilty at all. Personally, I was doubtful the attacks were from an international terrorist(s). Show me where I said it must be al Queada and I'll entertain your silly little comments. Otherwise, I don't have the time or inclination to waste on someone who trolls and backpeddles just to get some attention.
2002-02-25 11:51:26 AM
Bookman said "Here in So. Calif. you damn near have to be caught farking the pidgeons in the public square at high noon to be fired from a government job."

Speaking from experience?
2002-02-25 12:34:47 PM
Short of nukes I don't think it's possible to blow up the Hoover Dam, that thing's built to take a ton of force.
2002-02-25 12:38:04 PM
Take that, Al Qaeda! Uh, I mean, domestic terrorists...
2002-02-25 12:43:22 PM
Unless Lex Luthor tries his oceanfront property scheme again.
2002-02-25 12:45:22 PM
If it is indeed the person responsible, round up his immediate family, and infect them with the virus as well as the suspect.
