Rubbish.

During my 1st year of university, I met a girl that was heavily involved in the Ontario PIRG. Every couple weeks, they would get together for an activity called "culture jamming." On more than a few occasions, they would print off stickers that said "I'm changing the climate. Ask me how." and then plaster them on people's SUVs and pickup trucks. The stickers were paper, not vinyl. And as many a parent of an honour student can attest, that sh*t never comes off of a new car or paint job.

She thought it was hip and counterculture. I thought she should be fined for vandalism.

Vinager usually takes care of it.

In other news, the rest of us want members of environmental groups to be tagged with labels such as "What's a shower?" and "My odor offends those around me"

If you take away SUVs those people will find some other way to compensate for penis size.

2004-11-26 12:37:52 AM
Oh good. I can't wait for a flame war about stupid SUVs and the assholes who drive them to hit the main page.

As much as you deny it, global warming is and will continue to be a problem. Unless we actually do something about it, we will see radical climate change relatively soon.

I hate SUVs but not because of the environment. Screw that, I just hate that people who have them don't usually know how to handle a vehicle that large. My building manager has a Lincoln Navigator, and she's an awful driver. She often can't fit into her own parking spot.

YOUR HUMMER HAS TEH STICKER! YOU'VE BEEN LEARNED!

How about "SUVs will not increase your penis size"?

Driving seriously harms you and others around you

The first thing that the English teacher in me said was "what does driving nonchalantly do for the world?"

Seriously, if people want to really diminish emissions then they should start with designing and approving new nuclear plants to reduce coal, Natural gas, and oil burning for electricity.

Fark used to be the second biggest gathering, but with you onboard, we finally have enough numbers to qualify for number one!

Which is great, because I've needed to number one for awhile now. Pardon me while I do a handstand up this tree...

Yeah because there isn't anything harmful that comes from nuclear reactors.

Nothing at all.

Walking through the woods a man comes up to
Another man hugging a tree with his ear firmly
against the tree. Seeing this he inquires,

"Just out of curiosity, what the hell are you doing?"

"I'm listening to the music of the tree."

"You gotta be kiddin' me."

"No ,would you like to give it a try?"

"Well, OK..."

So he wraps his arms around the tree and
presses his ear up against the tree. With this the
other guy slaps a set of hand cuffs on him, takes his
wallet, jewelry, car keys, then strips him ass naked
and leaves.

Two hours later another nature lover strolls
by, sees this guy handcuffed to the tree, stark
ass naked, and asked, "What the hell happened to you?"
He tells the guy the whole story about how he got there.

While he was telling his story, the other guy
shakes his head in sympathy, walks around behind him, kisses
him behind the ear and says... "Ya know sweetheart, this
just ain't your day."

I really dont think stickers are the answer.......

Really dont see SUV drivers being swayed by them in any way.

Just tax them off the road. SUV's piss me off, because i cant see past them in traffic. They are a road hazzard.

And for the Soccer/Securtiy Mom's who claim they like them because of the "high driving position", screw you, you selfish Biatches.

/Hates SUV's unless they are used for off-road driving on a regular basis.

I've wanted to slap a "We're All In This Together" pro-Environment sticker on the back of my SUV (Tahoe, 5.7 V-8) for some time. Anyone know where I can find one?

There you have it folks, any human involvement in global warming has hereby been disproven. CCICTLT said it so it must be true.

So anyone who said the following is just a moran. Hummer H2? I'll take 4! w00t!

In 1995, the world's climate experts in the IPCC concluded for the first time in a cautious consensus, "The balance of evidence suggests that there is a discernible human influence on the global climate."

In its 2001 assessment, the IPCC strengthened that conclusion considerably, saying, "There is new and stronger evidence that most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities."

Scientists have found significant evidence that leads to this conclusion:

* The observed warming over the past 100 years is unlikely to be due to natural causes alone; it was unusual even in the context of the last 1,000 years.
* There are better techniques to detect climatic changes and attribute them to different causes.
* Simulations of the climate's response to natural causes (sun, volcanoes, etc.) over the latter half of the 20th century alone cannot explain the observed trends.
* Most simulation models that take into account greenhouse gas emissions and sulphate aerosols (which have a cooling effect) are consistent with observations over the last 50 years.

Yeah, admitting global warming could quite possibly be real aint good for stock prices.....

But hey, cutting pollution aint good for corporations bottom line, is it.....

/Wants to have an earth where to spend his money.

If humans are the problem, why are you not doing something about your wasteful consuming self, Fun_Blame_Monster? Or is it always only "hey everyone else, stop doing what you're doing because I said so and have this propaganda that proves I'm right!" Got any kids? Better take care of them too. Do the planet and your fellow man a favor.

I never said that there was no cost, but to not even consider it in the equation is foolish. Personally I'd like to see some more development from the gentleman who figured out a way to make oil from burning tires and turkey bits. If he could add 1st stage power generation as well as conversion then you'd have an ideal situation.

Coal powerplants release more radioactives into the environment than a well maintained nuclear plant, because coal contains Uranium and Thorium.

It sure is a good thing that we have that spare, alternate earth which is exactly like this earth in every way except that it is devoid of humans for the purposes of using it as a control group by which to make the scientific conclusion that the climate change can be ascribed in part to humans.

They require qualifications now? I planned to just make up the scariest data I thought I could possibly sell as real to chicken little, I mean, the general public, like everyone else.

After all, considering the present group of scientists are saying the EXACT OPPOSITE of what they were saying a few years ago, how much more wrong could I be than that, even if I just made up numbers at random?

Back up your argument; then, we'll talk. (Of course, I'll be asleep.) Scientists not paid by the Bush Administration or big corporationsmeaning those that still believe in research ethicsall agree that human activity is having a negative effect on the environment. But you shouldn't worry; you'll be dead by the time it really matters. So keep on driving your SUV.

We know that people are the cause of climate change because the Earth's climate was static for billions of years before humans came along.

No, I think the jury is out that you're an idiot.

Way to post a link to partisan one-sided information that still isn't rooted in truth, only in theory.

But hey, seeing as you're our intellectual elite, if it's good enough for you, it must be good enough for the rest of us unwashed slobs.

The world would be so much better if people like you didn't post ONE side of the story from PARTISAN viewpoints that support your own selfish insecurity to make asinine arguments.

People like you are why disinformation rules and intelligent debate is a relic.

Don't be stupid. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is not a partisan group promoting one side of the story. Not everything in this world is as stupid as U.S. politics. This isn't opinion research; it's the global scientific community agreeing that there's a problem.

They have "environmentalist" asshats in Turkey too?

If the country is well enough off that they can afford such morons, obviously they are ready to join the EU. Paging Jaques Chirac...Paging Jacques Chirac.

Need I really post newspaper articles citing the world-threatening danger of global COOLING from a few years ago?

Would you like to argue that the climatologists were not a few years ago warning of the dangers of global cooling?

See to peter_hook, the world is exactly as he wants it to be. Any information that might show otherwise is of course partisan trickery. Don't you people get it? If you don't believe everything that ph thinks you should believe, you are an idiot.

Of course any organization, no matter how minute that agrees with ph is automatically given the intellectual standing of God.

Fun fact: That is what peter_hook calls "intelligent debate".
