OK: Skyy Blue's label touts a "malt beverage with natural flavors containing vodka."

And it contains NO Vodka? That is pretty farked.

2002-02-23 10:33:44 PM
They fail to mention that it tastes like sour ass. It's tolerable if you have a shot of vodka or tequila first.then agai, most stuff is tolerable after a coupla shots,

2002-02-23 10:42:07 PM
Seriously, man. The bar i work at pimps them out to people(girls)who "Don't like beer, but don't want to get too messed up"

2002-02-23 10:43:07 PM

"Diageo PLC, owner of the Smirnoff brand, dismisses the NAD action, ..."

I dismiss all nad action, too... Not that there is anything wrong with that.

and click smirnoff ice outside us

2002-02-23 10:52:15 PM
Tastes like candy. It's a... girl drink.

2002-02-23 10:52:33 PM
i have had smirnoff ice a few times. i find it hard to stomach more than a bottle of the stuff since it has such a acidic artifical flavour. yukie. anyways i was always under the impression it contained vodka. cant put my finger on exactly why but maybe ill remember.

the really funny part is that this stuff is always sold out at the liquor store and the bars / clubs make a killing off it selling anywhere from 4-8 bucks a bottle! i bet that 9/10 people think it contains vodka :p

2002-02-23 11:04:33 PM
I would bring legal action against Smirnoff concerning Smirnoff Ice... not because it contains no Vodka... but because it looks like bottled semen.

2002-02-23 11:08:28 PM
Yup Code. /agree.

It's like a dirty Zima...only i think it tastes worse.

2002-02-23 11:29:28 PM
I like it and was never under the impression it contained vodka. Then again I am a female who can't stands beer. It kinda tastes like Fresca.

Girl drink drunk

2002-02-24 12:09:00 AM
Any self respecting man should be able to pull a bottle of vodka out of the fridge and down a fifth.

Anyone who drinks this stuff needs to just admit to not being able to drink real alcohol.

2002-02-24 12:09:33 AM
Well, personally, I want to sue any guy who drinks this and complains that it lacks vodka. I want to do this for two reasons.
1) Who the hell CARES if it has vodka or not? It's alcohol, that's all that matters.
2) You're giving a bad rep to the male gender by drinking a chick drink

2002-02-24 12:15:39 AM
I love how the anti-alcohol folks are concerned these drinks will cause more people to "graduate" from beer to hard liquor. I NEVER liked beer. I STARTED with tequila and vodka.

2002-02-24 12:18:37 AM
And another thing, what's up with the "girl drinks" label? Are guys supposed to just drink straight Jack Daniels and gasoline or something? Are guys not allowed to like sweet drinks?

2002-02-24 12:32:33 AM
'Girl drink drunk'

Ouro, if that's a Kid's in the Hall reference, you have my respect.

Low alcohol? the stuff we get in Canada is 5 or 6% alcohol. I'm surprised that no ones suing them because Smirnoff Ice doesn't contain any ice :)

2002-02-24 12:34:22 AM
i've always felt that it had a vodka-like aftertaste

2002-02-24 12:40:59 AM
Adm_crunch of course its a girlie drink, its not a normal alcohol color... its... its the color of semen and only girls should be drinking that! NO.... MEN should be drinking things like straight tequila... no wait grain alcohol... no wait TURPENTINE. Yes, turpentine it strips paint, gets you drunk and makes you blind so you don't have to see how fugly the girl you just picked up is. Be a man and have a turpentine shot with a rubbing alcohol chaser.

mmm mead

2002-02-24 12:53:14 AM
Dunno bout this stuff. I always thought it was alright, kinda sharp but alright, c'mon though why have it when you can have the real stuff?

2002-02-24 12:53:30 AM
Just give me my orange-flavored vodka and I'm happy.

2002-02-24 01:08:55 AM
As a card-carrying, professional drinker, I have to admit I thought the stuff had vodka in it. Just assumed. I mean, who reads labels? To me, Smirnoff=vodka. If it says Jack Daniels, I assume it's got Jack in it.

Not that it matters all that much. As long as it DOESN'T say turpentine, then I'll drink it. Btich drink or not, if it tastes good, I'm there.

Being too macho for a particular drink indicates a little too much insecurity.

2002-02-24 01:29:25 AM
Just give me my orange-flavored vodka and I'm happy.

Grey goose orange and some OJ can make one mean screwdriver

2002-02-24 02:05:09 AM
Awesome!!! My first article! I am so happy!

2002-02-24 02:12:07 AM
Anyways I have to agree that the comment that Beer and other "soft" drinks are gateways to harder liquors is stupid. I hate beer it tastes so awful... give me rum or whiskey anyday!

2002-02-24 02:50:53 AM
Idiots?!?! is more like it!

This stuff doesn't taste too bad. But don't bother paying for it by the bottle, just mix vodka with some Sprite and Fresca. Tastes the same, and it's cheaper.

2002-02-24 06:28:07 AM
Any dumbass who considered it to be a "hard" drink should be carried out back and whipped. If there is one single ASS*@&! on this planet who thought paying 5.99 for a twelve pack of that shiat is a good idea, you dont have to worry, its for his mom anyway.

2002-02-24 10:17:02 AM
Come on now, how about some truth in advertising. Why not call it 'Smirnoff Liquid Panty Remover'. Guaranteed you'll get lucky at last call!

2002-02-24 10:42:41 AM
Real men drink real booze, such as Jack Daniels, Jim Beem or Jose Cuervo...who cares what some panty waste fags drink.

2002-02-24 10:44:27 AM
Here in Texas, it is fairly easy to tell which products contain hard alcohol simply by where they are sold. Stuff that has the real deal, like those little four pack Jack Daniel's cocktails, Club brand stuff (yuck), and the Jose Cuervo ready-made Margarita stuff can ONLY be sold in liquor stores. I guess it's a Bible-Belt thing. I always do a double-take when I'm in another state and walk into a convenience store and there's BOOZE for sale. So anway when Smirnoff Ice came out and one could find it in a Texaco Food Mart and the local Piggly-Wiggly, you immediately knew it was just a dressed up wine-cooler without even reading the lable.

2002-02-24 11:20:12 AM
Stuff that has the real deal,...can ONLY be sold in liquor stores.
Yeah, I guess maybe that is why I assumed it wasn't because in our town(in Louisiana), stores can sell beer and the like but no hard liquor. There is also only one liquor store in our parish if you really want to feel sorry for us and it is located in a town that people who are from my town do NOT enter lightly, for they are entering with the realization that they may at anytime be attacked by some drunk, half-bred person of Mexican-Indian decent. (disclaimer: I do not have anything wrong with Hispanic ir Native American people in general merely the ones that happen to live in Zwolle/Ebarb.

2002-02-24 11:59:30 AM
...did anyone say it contained vodka? It's a malt beverage people.

Still, I think the problem is the fact they used their Smirnoff name and it creates the implication of vodka. That's dumb...read the damn label...it's a malt beverage...

If Maker's Mark made beer would it have bourbon in it?? NO...which is why they don't make beer...besides...who would drink it when you can have Maker's instead anyway? That's my Maker's Mark plug for the day...

A little theory on the compensation culture in America:

1. Advanced wealth brings technolgical advances that then bring labour saving devices that reduce the need to think/act in everyday life. Intelligence falls.

2.The greatest example of this is television. The huge number of avialable channels brings increased compition, which makes broadcasters use more sensasionalism, sound bite and genrally simplistic yet eye-catching tactics to grab viewrs. Advertisers even worse.

3. American's soon have an-over simplistic world view. Just like.... young children! And like young children, they have reduced self responsibility.

4. A few large compensation payouts then leads to a flood of lawyers activly trying to reduce levels of self responsibility. This spirals out of control, and voila! America today.

Yeah, not every American is an resplonsibility drained child, frequent internet users have to sift through large amounts of crap and get wise to the way shock tactics ect are used, increasing arwareness that All Arab's aner't beard wearing cave dwelling terrorist madmen. Or that they should sue because something doesn't contain something. What was it again?

/crazed ranting

Who gives a damn? Vodka, no vodka, does it matter? Girly drinks, non-girly drink, who cares? Drink and be happy.

As an American, I cherish my right to get shiatfaced however I chose. Be it a drink with an umbrella, straight from the bottle, or even an exhast pipe. For it matters not how we get beligerant, as long as we do so. The moment we give up our choices, we have all lost. In the words of our former President, Abe Lincoln, "Be excellent to each other, and party on dude."

I used to buy those "Bartles and Jaymes" wine coolers years ago, until they switched the wine content with beer content.
