Alchemist93, no, that's okay. Thanks though. I want to see the sidewalk do it on it's own.

Blinko Rex III - in other news NC is actually getting tourists

Now, now, now... I gotta defend the homestate.

--We have beautiful mountains (among the most scenic of the Appalachian Range) including the Smokeys, Blue Ridge and Unicoi.
--We have gorgeous beaches.
--We have the outer banks.
--We have some of the most well preserved lighthouses in the nation (including the largest brick/stone lighthouse in the nation - Cape Hatteras)
--We have loads of history (being one of the original 13 colonies)
--We have probably the best college basketball in the nation (UNC, Duke, Wake Forest)
--The major cities (Raleigh/Durham, Charlotte, Asheville) are relatively clean, safe and enjoyable.
--We have probably the most scenic area of the Blue Ridge Parkway (including the Linn Cove Viaduct, an architectural masterpiece)
--We have Mount Mitchell, the largest mountain east of the Mississippi River.
--We have 1/2 of the Smokey Mountain National Park (the most visited in the US)
--We have Biltmore Estate, one of the oldest and largest private residences ever built.
--And if you like SCUBA diving, we have among the best wreck diving in the world.
--We have probably the most challenging section of the Appalachian Trail.
--We have some of the best white water rafting east of the Mississippi River.
--Both "Fortune" and "Money" Magazines have named North Carolina the best state to do business in.
--Activities? Climbing, SCUBA diving, hiking, backpacking, camping, motorcycling, racing, rafting, kayaking, hanggliding, hunting. That really just scratches the surface.
--And for a Southern US State, we have an amazing amount of cultural diversity.
--Face it, North Carolina is beautiful state. I'm proud to call this place home.

Espertron
Cool, and pretty. I live in a sceninc province too, we have mountains, pretty rivers...hot chicks, and a giant mecca to consumerism, but I lack the skills to post pics

2004-11-14 11:57:44 PM
Espertron - go to hell. How can you mention good basketball and you fail to mention the team that finished second in the ACC last year. Just watch. NCSU will put the rest of the big four to shame when it takes the ACC.

Also, those sidewalks have nothing on the bricks at NC State. Those farkers are always looking to destory you. I fell on them once my freshman year, after that I made sure my shoes had good tread on them.

and fark UNC

No mistakes, boy_from_easter_island, I'm not from Pittsburgh. I've just worked with a handful of Pittsburghers over the years and have avoided picking up "you-uns" like the plague!

Light any bodies of water aflame there in Cleveland lately?

/Chicago girl, born and raised!

2004-11-15 12:02:21 AM
Georgia Tech will pwn all in basketball this year! NC State's got nothing.

sprgrss - Also, those sidewalks have nothing on the bricks at NC State. Those farkers are always looking to destory you. I fell on them once my freshman year, after that I made sure my shoes had good tread on them.

You probably wouldn't fall down so often if your pants weren't down around your ankles all the time!!

And yes, I love NCSU. Good college. Great campus. Been there many times. Love the place. :)

2004-11-15 12:04:27 AM
Climberdusk, I haven't succeeded in actually lighting any yet, but I'm still trying. Also, I should probably take this time to point out that I don't actually speak like that, but only ridicule those who do. I'm from South Bend, originally, by the way.

shiat, I don't wear my shiat like that.

and BigWillGT, Georgia Tech really owned State last year. I mean how many games did they win against them? Oh that's right ZERO

2004-11-15 12:17:05 AM
Oh, I finally get what espertron is trying to say. He's calling me gay. That is the first time I've ever heard a gay comment about State. If any school with in the UNC System deserves gay comments, it's UNC.

Sprgrss - Oh, I finally get what espertron is trying to say. He's calling me gay.

Apparently you didn't get what espertron is trying to say. (rolls eyes)

2004-11-15 12:20:28 AM
Plus sprgrss, why would I make a "gay comment" about State when I clearly said in my post: And yes, I love NCSU. Good college. Great campus. Been there many times. Love the place. :)?

2004-11-15 12:21:34 AM
stop calling him gay.

2004-11-15 12:23:03 AM

That is a common problem. One should also be wary of curbs, which can cause painful traumas to toes. Stones of various sizes are occasionally found on sidewalks, and they are not forgiving if you step on one. Other hard objects can get under your feet, causing badly bent ankles. In the winter there might be ice on sidewalks. The hardest thing about walking on ice, when you come right down to it, is the ice. None of these things are painted any warning color. They are all a part of life. If you never encounter one, it is because you aren't living!

Note about the ice: Ice is natural. It is every man's responsibility to keep his own feet under him.

Willard H. Killough III Managing Editor needs to do something about all of the hard returns in his article. A single sentence can rarely stand as a paragraph.

I for one welcome our new terrorizing sidewalk overlords.

/cant believe not yet posted

I can't believe I missed this one. This is like 2 miles from my place. The sidewalks there aren't anything like the ones in Charleston, SC. My wife fell on our wedding night on the way back to the hotel. We went out for a drink with the wedding party ( all friends from CA, who I wouldn't be seeing for a while) after the reception. Half a block from the Vendue Inn the wife trips on a huge crack in the sidewalk, on a very poorly lit stretch, and manages to fall chin-first on to a steel grate. Long story short: spent the rest of the night in the emergency room getting her Cat-Scanned and stitched up. Fortunately I had my trusty Canon Elph along and have a couple classic pics!

/Looks like there's enough farkers here for a Wilmington party, anyone interested?
