Farking old news. I submitted this weeks ago.
2002-02-21 05:47:45 PM

I'd rather that Rudy Juliani be nominated!

The Nobel Peace Prize. Named for the man who created dynamite.
2002-02-21 05:49:18 PM
you've got to be farkin kidding me right? zzzzzzzzzz
2002-02-21 05:49:34 PM
If anyone is deserving of a nobel peace prize, it should be Rudy.
2002-02-21 05:49:51 PM
Peace? Didn't he wage a WAR?
2002-02-21 05:50:09 PM
Of course he should win the prize. Didn't you hear his speech in Japan? Much like Superman, President Bush reversed time to change history and wipe WWII from the history books. If that doesn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, I don't know what does.
2002-02-21 05:50:16 PM
Ouroborus - More so FUNDED by all his explosive money :)
2002-02-21 05:50:36 PM
Let the flame wars commence!
2002-02-21 05:50:49 PM
That's absolutely ridiculous. I nominate Alfred E. Neuman of mad magazine
2002-02-21 05:51:15 PM
If Arafat can get it, I suppose anybody could....
2002-02-21 05:51:45 PM
I don't think Bush will get it. If he does, let someone else write his acceptance speech. No Japanese repeats.
2002-02-21 05:52:34 PM
Rudy a chumo too. What the hell he do. Phone the prez. for money live on telephone & Ban Boobies in NYC, what a chump
2002-02-21 05:52:52 PM

I have a Nobel Peace Prize.
2002-02-21 05:54:58 PM
2002-02-21 05:55:25 PM
There are hundreds of people eligible to make nominations for the Peace Prize, and all it takes is one to make it official, which is what happened here. It was the leader of some conservative group. He won't win, there are 156 other nominations, and at least one member of the committee that AWARDS the prize hates Bush with a passion.

This was all explained when the nominees were released like two weeks ago. Way old news.
2002-02-21 05:55:29 PM
If a moron can win the Nobel Peace Prize for waging a war, well then, the terrorists have already won.

Sorry. Couldn't be helped.
2002-02-21 05:55:31 PM
Chime: Rudolph Giuliani (no offense)

That would be interesting to see him win the award...
2002-02-21 05:56:28 PM
Two things.

Obviously Bush won't get it (lets face it people don't get the peace prize for warmongering). Arafat is not the same thing. Arafat won it for promoting peace (whether or not you think he deserved it is irrelevant, that year, the peaceful steps he took were fantastic, today it has all gone to shiat, which is unfortunate, but that guy went and got shot so...). Bush is not promoting peace, he promotes murder and war.

Two, I've read this story off of Fark before. The extreme right-wing guy who nominated them (Bush and Blair) wanted the world to know it as soon as possible so that he could get his 15 minutes of fame.
2002-02-21 05:57:03 PM
Don't you have to establish peace to win a Peace prize?

I guess if Arafat can get one. :)

2002-02-21 05:57:17 PM
So, the Nobel Peace Prize might very well go to a man who has declared a war he refuses to call a war just so he doesn't have to extend the same rights to prisoners as he would a POW, but at any other point in time the word "war" is thrown about freely and without a care?

Wow. I guess he really does deserve it.

NOMINATED don't mean shiat.

Just like those stupid movies that advertise they were NOMINATED!!!
2002-02-21 05:58:27 PM
I can't think of anyone that should get it.
Who is in charge of Canada?
2002-02-21 05:59:51 PM
Noone here has said it yet, so I am going to..

I think him above anyone else should get it.
Who else has promoted peace more in the last year?
He is bringing about peace by ridding terrorism from the world. Sometimes you have to fight a war to save lives.

If you don't think he should get it then who should?
There isn't one other leader or individual that has done anything this year that I can think of to do more in the long run to help peace.

Just my 2 cents
2002-02-21 06:00:46 PM
whoops. looks like I stepped in on a little liberal pow- wow. My bad
2002-02-21 06:03:06 PM
Mad Ogre: That's right - most people (ncluding me) can't think of anyone in specific who should get it because people who work for peace don't get much press. Very sad, really.
2002-02-21 06:03:31 PM

Peace thru War. What a concept. :P
2002-02-21 06:05:30 PM
Once he rids the world of terrorists, as is his plan, then MAYBE bushII should get it. But not when he is in the middle of a war that is probably only going to end when everyone gets bored of reading about non-american's getting whooped by americans.
2002-02-21 06:05:51 PM
I hereby officially nominate, or Drew if it absolutely has to be a person. Think about it; with all the time spent: 1) flaming on the threads, 2) photoshopping, 3) staring at boobies, 4) reading the articles, and 5) drinking beer while doing all of the above, who has time to wage war?
2002-02-21 06:09:08 PM
Captain: remember Henry Kissinger ;)
2002-02-21 06:09:55 PM
2002-02-21 06:12:49 PM
R-E-P-E-A-T! Find out what it means to me!
2002-02-21 06:16:42 PM
This actually makes a lot of sense. Nobel was a foreigner who invented dynamite. Bush uses dynamite to blow up foreigners.
2002-02-21 06:17:04 PM
Ah, the optimists think that Bush is promoting peace through the eradication of terrorism. So, if and when this "war" on terrorism is over, do you think he'll be the Peace President?

Or will he be looking for another country to lob bombs on?

Because Bush needs a foreign enemy to have any chance at reelection (despite the polls).
2002-02-21 06:17:09 PM
I think Drew wants the farkers to have at least a couple of flame wars per day... you know, to make the site more entertaining. I think this thread is one of those baits the moderators throw once in a while...
2002-02-21 06:19:13 PM
ah, my previous post is to those who have mentioned 'repeats' on fark
2002-02-21 06:25:36 PM
Is there a Nobel "Peace or Else" prize?
2002-02-21 06:26:54 PM
I'm sure he's sent Jeb to Sweden to make sure he wins.
2002-02-21 06:26:54 PM
Upright: because of the polls.
2002-02-21 06:27:38 PM
100% Pure Stupidity.
2002-02-21 06:33:07 PM
Americans are idiots.
2002-02-21 06:36:09 PM
Boorite: Correct :)

Changing topics:
I love all the "I submitted this weeks ago" stuff. What you're really saying is, "My made-up headline, lack of spelling skills or perhaps selection of tag wasn't good enough for the admins. I am not interesting enought to get posted on Fark."

You ain't gots no mad skillz, furilla!
2002-02-21 06:39:51 PM
Fark members are a sampling of the world population that probably argues, bickers, whines, drinks, swears ect ect more than the average joe and the only thing that brings these people together are boobies so obviously the, as of yet undiscovered, key to world peace is Hugh Hefner
2002-02-21 06:41:47 PM
if bush wins, I surrender.
