I'm shocked it took someone that long to do that.
2004-11-12 03:51:26 PM
That's awesome. Of course silly, but awesome.

SurgeonDryHog goes to eleven.
2004-11-12 05:01:48 PM
That's an interesting new feature, but the review of the speakers also had the side effect of making me want to buy a set. I've currently got only a standard Aiwa stereo through which I run my computer's audio (I've got a laptop). To have a set of speakers (probably better than the Aiwa) for use with the computers is not a bad idea, and $300 doesn't seem like an unreasonable price, if these speakers are as good as the review claims.

is it in Dobly ?

His wife thought it was juvenile. He sure showed her!

I don't know of any speakers that are in dobly.

/had to nitpick

Lots of speakers come with dolby decoders to run 5.1 surround sound. Not sure if these do, but Logitech makes insanely awesome speaker sets. And yes, these ones do go to 11.

Bloody I have an older set of Logitechs (Z-560) and I absolutely love them. The main concern is that the minimum setting for the bass is too high for a lot of applications. They put it really high with gaming in mind I think...if you have it turned even up a bit you feel every explosion in games.
2004-11-12 07:45:08 PM
In other news Klipsch still late on their competition busting 7.1 computer speaker system. (if they ever decide to create one)

/has older v400s (4.1 system), still sound great after about 3 years and they are THX certified
2004-11-12 07:48:38 PM
Oh, and the fact that the old control box only had dials for bass and fader (no treble). Volume, of course, and the useless "M3D" feature...but no treble.

Don't know if they've changed it.

You know, it's funny to see just how many people are dropping Spinal Tap references, and just how many people are missing them.

There's just as much evidence for people missing references as there is for people missing the letter o
2004-11-12 07:52:29 PM
I do believe Spinal Tap on btheir '92 tour got sick of everyone going to eleven, or higher to out do them, so they made sure their amps went to infinity.
2004-11-12 07:52:32 PM
I really need a set of these speakers for my sex farm.
2004-11-12 07:52:58 PM
Blech. Computer speakers sound for shiat.
2004-11-12 07:55:42 PM
"Put your hand next to it when it's cranking, and you can feel the wind."

you can with ANY sub-woofer. Logitech... meh. I'll stick with my Klipsch's

They are the best speakers (computer, hi-fi or otherwise) that I have ever owned.
2004-11-12 07:57:00 PM
2004-11-12 07:57:22 PM
Meh, I'll keep my music going through my stereo, thanks. Though unfortunately, living in an apartment precludes me from turning them up past 1.5.
2004-11-12 07:57:25 PM
Logitech, pffffft.

Got the v2.400's and then the upgrade to the 5.1 system, still using both and fantastic.
2004-11-12 07:59:43 PM
i don't think "Dobly" was a typo...

/No, don't touch that one, it must never be touched...
2004-11-12 08:02:28 PM
I would hate to be that guy's neighbor. Asshats like that piss me off.
2004-11-12 08:03:29 PM
Klipsch tends to be quite a bit pricier than Logitech . I certainly wouldn't knock them for sound quality though, but I picked up my 560's when they were the top of the line for $110 I think (Fatwallet special).
2004-11-12 08:05:06 PM
I don't get it. Why don't they just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
2004-11-12 08:05:16 PM
Computer speakers, pffft.

Get separate components and you'll see what good sound really is.
2004-11-12 08:08:10 PM
Must... have... Logitech... THX... speakers...

/to 11! fark the OSHA!
2004-11-12 08:08:58 PM
yes but, TheEnfarka, these go to 11.
2004-11-12 08:09:10 PM
I think I'll "listen to what the flower people say"
2004-11-12 08:09:38 PM
My WinAMP is set to play randomly from the MP3 collection on my hard drive... and at this moment -- all on its own -- just kicked into "Majesty of Rock" by Spinal Tap... creeeeepy...
2004-11-12 08:10:11 PM

These go to eleven.
2004-11-12 08:10:14 PM
My receiver has volume control that goes from 1 to 20. I guess that means mine is louder. Turn it up past 11 and you can blow out a zippo lighter six inches infront of the speakers. The set is over 30 years old- my father bought it shortly after he got out of high-school.

I guess they made 'em better back then...
2004-11-12 08:10:27 PM
choatie88 yeah, but run those speakers with the signal to noise ratio of a Sound Blaster card and suddenly it doesn't matter...
2004-11-12 08:16:18 PM
those Klipsch's in that pic goes to 80... so there.
2004-11-12 08:19:32 PM
Sidi pwns!
2004-11-12 08:21:27 PM
I have the little brother model, the Z2200s....damn good for computer speakers. They're basically the same thing except without the surround sound and optical input. Bass is nearly as good as my 10" Cerwin-Vega home theatre subwoofer...for $50 after rebate these are a friggin' steal.
2004-11-12 08:23:20 PM
[image from too old to be available]

Probably doesn't even come close to this. But then, these are $1700 for the speakers alone, then you gotta buy the amp to go with it. And no wal-mart $200 amp would do these babies justice.
2004-11-12 08:25:46 PM
listen to the sustain........AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!
2004-11-12 08:26:29 PM
Klipsch are nice but they are a bit expensive. I got my Logitech Z-2200 for 1/3 the price after rebate, and they sound just as good.
2004-11-12 08:28:01 PM
/me hugs his KEFs
2004-11-12 08:28:40 PM
choatie88 I should probably say that I think I agree with your point. A good componant stereo system will blow away even the best computer system. It's just that running your stereo through the output of normal sound cards won't give you great results either. These would be great gaming and MP3 speakers, but if you really want to hold a massive party they probably wouldn't cut it.
2004-11-12 08:29:11 PM
I'll take my Kef's ANNNY day over some of those logitech
but if i didnt have my Kef's i would deffinately go get a set of those Logitechs
2004-11-12 08:41:30 PM
My speakers go from . to bigger .
2004-11-12 08:43:17 PM
Oh, the wind? You could feel the wind on this old 35W Yamaha computer sub I had...

These sound nice, but my 4.1 400W Klipsch setup is fine for my laptop as such. I will just go to real floorstanding stereo speakers when I get the chance.
2004-11-12 08:47:38 PM
I own the Logitech Z-560s, and I love these speakers. I play a lot of games and mp3 through my system so they perfect for me. The subwoofer and these things is fantastic as far as PC speakers go and rattle my windows at half volume and the bass knob 1/4 from low.

Sure there are better speakers out there (there always is) but for the price, Logitech is a great choice to go with.
2004-11-12 08:48:54 PM
"I play a lot of games and mp3 through my system so they perfect for me"

so they ARE perfect for me

I have a pair of speakers that cost twice that much.

Dynaudio Contour 1.8 mk.II

Polk is trash (it's all relative).
