So, Im not a gamer, because I dont like halo or halo2?

My videogame collection probably disagrees with you. But hey, if you want to challenge and beat me in halo, thats fine.

I get to play you in soul calibur 2 though. :)

non-hi-definition bullsh*t.

Because higher resolution makes a game better? o_O

/still plays his NES sometimes.

FPS make me puke.

/one of those motion-sickness vidgame pansies
//took Dramamine just to play Doom - seriously

no mouse and keyboard..
no halo2 for me.

A fps isnt a real fps without a mouse and keyboard.

This is why I don't post on videogame message boards. Too many posters are fanboys and are probably in their teens.

Same reason I don't post on anime boards.

killab:

Dude, you're so funny. I mean, seriously. Let's take you apart, so you can then respond by calling me gay again. Good thing today is a slow afternoon.

Boobies:
HALO 2 will RULE online FPS. If you dont believe me read the review on ign.com.

"BEST X-BOX GAME EVER."

sell your stupid Japanese PS2 and its non-hi-definition bullsh*t. Its for kids.

I did.

A 'real gamer' would not sell one of their systems to cut off one third of the library of titles for the current generation of systems. A 'real gamer' would not cite Hi-Def as their reason for getting rid of a system (because a 'real gamer' knows that gameplay is more important than pretty graphics). A 'real gamer' would not have such a huge ego that a system 'for kids' would be off limits, otherwise, as I'm sure as you'd put it, it would make you look like a 'puss'.

Of course, commenting on a game you haven't played yet, and believing reviews before making up your own mind is the sign of a casual gamer, which you are. Do you play anything besides Halo? How does just Halo make you 'a real gamer'? Did Stuff and Maxim tell you that 'real gamers only play Halo'?

Second post:
Yeah, I thought all the mindless fanboys had left too,
I'm going to go play with my dollies now.

Fag.

How can you like video games and not like Halo 2? Really?

You must be totally gay.

More infantile name calling and stereotyping. You didn't help your case any. And of course, I'm not entitled to my opinon - I have to like Halo 2, or else I'm gay. Very mature. You're what, 16? 17?

Third post:
yawn.

My basis is simple: Halo 2 will own. Here is my argument:
ign.com or
gamespot.com or
g4techtv.com or
OXM Magazine or
EGM Magazine or

lets just say, point proven?

If you don't like HALO, then you are not a real gamer.
and as I mentioned...probably gay as well.

yes gay. Go play Pokemon now.

-OR... you could challenge me to a match online

My gamertag is CHAS DC. You will be owned.

My initial point is that you're a mindless fanboy. This holds through to this post as well. First, you believe the reviews that the game is great (How would you know? Have you played it?), and answer me this: Would you be calling bloody murder if any of those sites or magazines gave it a less than superior score? I think so.

Not liking one game (and please point out to me where I say in this thread I do not like Halo, just that it was overhyped and average) does not make anyone not a 'real gamer'. I'm sure there are several games that all the sites and magazines you listed rated higher or at the same level as Halo 2 that you don't like. Based on your logic, then you aren't a 'real gamer' either for liking any of those games.

I personally could never get into Halo, but just because I didn't enjoy myself doesn't mean I don't recognize it as a game. It definitely beats out any other console fps, and is a worthy title to stand up to the big boys of pc gaming like Doom 3 and HL 2.

But my (gaming)heart still belongs to GTA and Final Fantasy.

And Rome: Total War. Damn that game is addicting. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned it and I completely agree.

2004-11-08 02:30:19 PM
Josephastalin,

Total war is frustrating me as of late so I've been making historical battles, the damn squaller in my cities is driving me up the wall, awsome game though.

I'll check out the multiplayer on Halo 2, but I think UT04 has the best online fps gaming out IMO.

neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerds

2004-11-08 02:40:52 PM
I've played Halo 2 (friend has a bootleg copy), I was horribly underwhelmed. The graphics aren't much better than the first one at all. The weapons are WORSE (no scope on pistol, assault rifle fires in three round bursts). The game is still horribly slow. Theres frequent pop-in in multiplayer. I knew it wouldn't live up to the hype but even so...bleh. At least now everyone in multiplayer doesn't look the same, now theres a whole TWO character models! Even for a console FPS it doesn't seem to push the envelope. UT2k4 is LIGHTYEARS beyond Halo 2.

I now await the flames of the fanboys.

2004-11-08 02:41:21 PM
Battlefield 1942 still takes a lot of my time. I didn't like Halo very much, but I did finish it on the PC. I do think, however, that Halo 2 does look really good. I'll take a look at it, but when Half-Life 2 comes out next week, I'm sure that's what is going to take up a LOT of my spare time. Also, I wasn't a big fan of the first Half-Life, and thought that it, as was with Halo, was very overrated.

Doom 3 was great, UT2k4 is the first Unreal game that I like, but I will be a Battlefield whore for quite a while.

2004-11-08 02:43:55 PM
Uh oh honey, the kids are fighting again. You kids play nice or you'll be grounded and you won't be allowed to play **insert your favorite here**.

Go take out the trash or do some homework, you silly fanboys!

I'm just wondering how you're playing a bootleg copy online multi. I didn't think they would have servers set up, and if they did, could easily pick out who's running a bootleg copy (not to mention that last time I checked, Live wouldn't accept connections from modded boxes).

I know there is some kind of weird alternate for live, but I heard nobody was playing it on there anyway yet.

Had it not been for Halo, what was there really at the time of release other than PGM? That would get people to plop down $300-plus so they could play it?

I got my Xbox when they were still $300 because of the promise of future games and because i liked that it had a HD and network adaptor built-in. I didn't even get Halo until I had owned my Xbox for about 6 months, and even then I only got it because I participated in a play test for MS. There are lots of good games for Xbox besides Halo

I wouldn't waste your breath fighting statements like that. I waited in line all morning for a PS2, and the initial offerings were a pile of droppings, with the exception of SSX. I waited a long, long time before anything really exciting came along for that system. Same thing with Xbox. It takes a while for developers to hit their stride with a new system, unless you're Nintendo, and have ridiculous quality control standards (which I appreciate).

2004-11-08 02:53:10 PM
I played it at a Halo2 party. 8 on 8, 4 X-boxes. Theres a chip you can mod your X-box with that switches the mod on and off so Xbox Live can't detect it...yet.

2004-11-08 02:57:01 PM
Did not RTFT, god that would take long, but since i am a hypocrite I am goign to throw my own two cents in thus enlargening this bloated POC myself. I think we can establish a few solid facts here, as dictated by my awesomeness:

1: FPS + Console = Suck.
2: Even on PC, Halo sucks... poor level design, weak feeling guns, slow action, no innovation in fact a huge step backwards from current FPS design. Good vehicles though.
3: XboX controllers suck.
4: G4 raped TTV. What a pity.

DrZombie

People have been playing it on XBOXConnect for a while now. XBC allows you to hook up xbox to the PC, essentially tricking the xbox into thinking its connected to a LAN. It's ok, but lags ALOT compared to xbox LIVE. The only reason I ever used it was for the first Halo.

2004-11-08 02:58:29 PM
Let me just say I never liked Halo really. Why? Because making you go all the way to get betrayed by a farking robot and having to go all the way back is just lame.

the Halo series may have multiplayer on Xbox pegged down right but the single player of the first was shiate.

'Course everyone who hasnt played a PC Game since Half Life's release never saw the scripted events with squad AI goes all ga-ga over this stuff and instantly proclaimed the game the "Mother of All Shooters" where as to the PC crowd it was about an average game.

Lotta reviewers saying they still even have the bland environments, the one thing I hoped they would have improved on - the multiplayer maps are simple and great fun but the single player campaign maps are pretty lame.

Having said that, yes I pre-ordered Halo 2 and will be picking it up tomorrow because everyone and their mother knows the game's multiplayer will be great on Xbox Live.

2004-11-08 03:06:33 PM
I'm on your boat QrtrPnder, Any current fps on the Pc will trump Halo2, but I bought it anyway because I also have an Xbox and it should make for a good time on live.

2004-11-08 03:09:21 PM
i've been playing halo2 for a week... it kicks farking ass

that is all

The video game I prefer to play is the best and anyone who prefers to play a different video game is an imbecile. Additionally, while playing my preferred game online, everyone else playing it sucks and I call them "noob".

2004-11-08 03:45:08 PM
Well, yea. There are good games on every system, but I'm talking console movers. The best of the best. Halo was a console mover. PGR was a minor console mover. Doom 3 was not a console mover. GTA3 was a console mover. Vice City was not.

2004-11-08 03:50:57 PM
Kliffoth:

The feature you are talking about is not a chip feature but a BIOS feature. The newer BIOSes block all traffic to the ports that Live uses thus not letting you to connect to the Live service.

The only way to play a backup (AKA bootleg) copy is to have a modified BIOS. If you are telling the truth about playing online with it you will be banned very soon by MS.

You can connect to Xbox Live with a modified BIOS but MS detects that your Xbox is modified and bans you some time there after. It could be 1 hour or it could be 3 weeks.

2004-11-08 04:06:20 PM
Um, sorry to spoil it for you, but Halo 2 is the gaming equivalent of Attack of the Clones.

Call it Halo 1.3, not Halo 2.0

It is smoother, but not really that much different in any meaningful ways.

Jesus H. Farking Christ. Lighten up people. Halo 2 will be an amazing game online, regardless of who loves or hates the first Halo, Timesplitters 2, Half-Life, Doom, et al. I hated, hated, HATED the ending to Halo 2, but that doesn't change the fact that I will be online at midnight tonight, all day tomorrow, and on and on (south of heaven)...

keiverarrow, I'll see you online! My online name is: Mister Bling

Already played it. Not amazing. About the same. Really. Not a hater, just telling the truth.

2004-11-08 04:13:42 PM
nuclear_asshat, I've already played it and beat the single player campaign, and I can't disagree with you ... it's a lot like the first one. But I'm sure it'll run smooth as buttah online, and the duel wielding and the plasma sword just feel right. Granted, it's not leaps and bounds ahead of the first game, but it's pretty much what I expected.

A fair comparison would be GTA3 and GTA:VC. Vice City was a great game, but more of the same, basically. But for me, Halo 2 will be the one thing that gets me to stop playing Rainbow Six 3 online. At least for a while. :)

God, I hope Halo 2 improves the storyline a little. It shouldn't be THAT hard, considering Halo's plot was an amalgamation of every sci-fi cliche ever.

And I hope Cortana BURNS. I LOATHE her.

2004-11-08 04:19:28 PM
Tor, you'll be happy to know that there is less of Cortana in part 2. And .... well, I don't wanna give away the ending, but you'll like the final cutscene after the credits.

That fills me with glee. I mean, I guess there's nothing THAT terrible about Cortana, but my original dislike and annoyance eventually was morphed into hate by all the masturbating fanboys.

I think that's what what happened to the Halo hata's on this topic. They started off not altogether pleased with Halo, and then the constant "Halo si teh BESTYT!!! BETTAR THEN MATRIXXXX@@2!" eventually drove them into irrational hatred.

2004-11-08 04:35:31 PM
Exactly. I mean, it's not like Halo 2 is gonna change the world, and I'm one of those who really hates when something is overhyped. But for the online portion of this game, I don't think it can be hyped enough. I'm starting to regret only taking Tuesday off...

halo wasn't great, it was an okay FPS with really crappy art direction (purple and pastel blue enemies, c'mon), a terrible story and the worst use of monks chanting in a soundtrack ever. GTA: SA is the best game ever.

I don't know what Goldeneye had, but it had it. Probably the most fun my friends and I had multiplayer.

Barely related nostalgia, one of my friends would always get to OddJob first, and he figured out that "Sidestep + Forward = Twice as fast as forward" and he'd only want to play on License to Kill mode.

This amounted to a hyper fast midget with one hit kills. It was really alarming watching that one yellow dot get closer and closer and then BLAM. Red screen, "Dun-nuh-da-duh" the end. For about two weeks he was a god. Until we learned his super speed secret.

Okay, if we're gonna talk about the best multiplayer game ever, I gotta put in my buck-oh-five:

NES -- TECMO SUPER BOWL

My friends and I still play that beeyotch. If they released it on the Xbox (as is, with sprites, Bo Jackson on the Raiders, etc.), and gave it Xbox Live support, it would be the best. Game. Ever.

2004-11-08 07:35:21 PM
I'll be on xbox live as well. Fark0ff, if you want an ass beating, look me up. SKATE919 is my gamertag.

For all of you people that are arguing over which FPS is better... get a life. As other people have tried to clue you in earlier in this thread: IT'S JUST A GAME! Who the hell cares that it's not your type? Just leave them to play their game of choice. You don't yell at a 5 year old because they're playing Pokemon and believe the Final Fantasy GBA game is better. It's really rediculous.

I own most of the old school consoles, PS2, an Xbox, and am a PC gamer, but I only play all of them in small doses. They're for entertainment purposes... spend more time with friends, family, and loved ones.

With that out of the way... said friends, family, and loved ones will not see me in the next three days. See you guys on XB LIVE!

i already had two students give me advance make up slips as they will be absent tomorrow per parental request. they flat out told me it was to stay home and play halo 2. no child left behind indeed.
