One does not lose 50,000 lbs of concrete and not know it.

2004-11-07 11:28:11 AM
Take THAT I-20! And there is plenty more where that came from, you uppity interstate!

2004-11-07 11:30:17 AM
Concrete is normally pretty tasty, but it's always best when it's fresh.

2004-11-07 11:42:14 AM
That's gonna be a biatch to clean up if it hardens.

2004-11-07 11:51:15 AM
qucik carve your initials in it before it hardens..

2004-11-07 11:51:39 AM
Mmmmm. Concrete.

2004-11-07 12:01:19 PM
Do they have any concrete leads? Probably a hardened criminal.

that's the last time I let my 4 yr. old drive the family cement truck...

2004-11-07 12:12:42 PM
That's going to make quite a speed bump.

Man driving truck getting head from cute girl, accidentally hits the release lever... News is made. Hope it was good, man!

A cement truck empties it's load by reversing the direction of it's hopper. At freeway speeds and RPM's, it wouldn't take more than a few seconds to dump an entire load. If the chute wasn't deployed, he is likely to have product all over the back of the rig. Look for a very messy car wash in Waskom, TX.

This guy was reportedly on the scene as the concrete spilled.

Of all the truck spills we read about this is the first one that I feel is just screaming for ejaculation jokes. Must be because it's not about food, food related jizz jokes are the scurge of our generation.

2004-11-07 12:31:06 PM
ISG, thats something I have always wondered. Are there threads that force the cement upwards? Also, how do they keep the cement wet? Or does the motion continue the mixing. So many things chemistry class left out. :)

People, people, people!

Cement trucks do not carry concrete. Cement is an ingredient of concrete! Try going into a store and asking for a loaf of flour - it's the same thing.

Well this cement truck was carrying fresh concrete, alright, Beebolini? Why must you hate?

2004-11-07 12:41:26 PM
SerovaJoe - Yes, there are threads inside the hopper that keep the product moving. When the hopper is reversed, the product is transported up to the top of the hopper and down the chute. I think I saw this on the "Modern Marvels" program on The History Channel recently. I think was either a program on big trucks or cement trucks specifically.

It could have been worse, firefighters said: the spill could have been a hazardous chemical.

Well, at least there's a bright side. heh

At least one 18-wheeler pulled onto the shoulder, delaying a water tanker headed to the pump trucks.

Assclown!

"The firefighters had a hard enough cleanup job. Time would only make the cement spill harder."

There's always some kind of pun in the first one-two paragraphs. However, this is the weakest one I've ever seen.

I couldn't figure that comment out, myself. Aren't you supposed to move out of the way (aka, to the shoulder) for emergency traffic? Should he have stopped in the middle of the road?

2004-11-07 01:41:58 PM
ahh home sweet home lol. I really need to move...

That was the first thing I thought of myself.

Kyosuke - He probably decided to take a nap.

/has no idea why the truck pulled off to shoulder.
//When you are in traffic, you are supposed to leave the emergency lanes clear.
///Just moved back to mainland from hawaii and is still getting used to semi being on road.

If that stretch of I-20 is as bad as it is running through Alabama, they'd be a lot smarter if they just left it and smoothed it out. Too damn bumpy...

This is wierd. I live in Shreveport and was driving on a road called Airline Dive that intersects I-20 last night. I drove through a load of material spilled all over the the road. Man it was dusty. I guess the dumping began there.

2004-11-07 03:26:15 PM
gumpish - I am a bit confused. Did the young man commit suicide because Bush won or because Kerry lost?

2004-11-07 03:26:51 PM
lol I could only imagine if that had happened on airline...3 times the normal traffic jams

Two comments to this...

1. Who the Fark Cares!!!!

2. If you truely think that an election is the sole reason as to why this guy offed himself.....Well hey, then lookey back a day or so, the election in Ohio was farked by someone stealing ballets in a truck to....no really...

Unbad headline.

Kyosuke: The Water Tender was probably using the right hand shoulder to get to the scene because most everyone else was probably just stopped in the traffic lanes. You are correct though, traffic is to pull to the right and yield to emergency vehicles. When I drove Ambulance or a Fire Engine you wouldn't believe the stupid shiat people would do to try to yield; pull into oncoming traffic, freeze in place, run into other cars, you can imagine.

Fark not posting an article is censorship?

Fark's purpose in "life" has never been to get news out. Read the banner. It's not news, it's Fark.

Where does the 50,000 lbs figure come from? I didn't see that quoted in the article. I guess if a truck with a fully loaded 12cy mixer drum, carrying a concrete slump weighing >4100 lb/cy, dumped its >entire< payload on the interstate, that would approach 50,000 lbs. Either way it is a mess. Maybe the driver didn't want to have to wash out his back haul.

2004-11-07 07:43:04 PM
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Fark's other purpose is to opress baby seals.
