For some odd reason, 8e6's web content filter doesn't like this page... I guess I can't play smear the queer today.

Well, a lot of people got fvcked in the ass. The gays must be to blame.

2002-02-20 10:11:33 AM
I blame it on the transexuals, those dirty bastards!

2002-02-20 10:12:16 AM
is this an unbiased source for information?

2002-02-20 10:16:04 AM
Wait a minute. I thought it was the Jews that were responsible for the WTC. Now we're saying that it was the gays? Or was it ... gay Jews? My God, the gay Jews! Of course! It all makes sense now!

I didn't get the agenda memo concerning our plans for Enron. Can someone please forward that to me. Thanks.

2002-02-20 10:18:37 AM
"The editor of a chain of Christian newspapers in the south says gays are partly to blame for the collapse of energy giant Enron."

hmm... Christian newspapers. No need to read any further. Crap, crap, crap.

2002-02-20 10:20:27 AM
I blame the Enola Gay.

2002-02-20 10:21:30 AM
Hmmm, I wonder how many xians worked for AA and Enron...

By this logic, if one xian blows up an abortion clinic, then all xians are abortion clinic bombers.

2002-02-20 10:21:41 AM
i think the post office has been refusing to deliver all mail from the Gay Agenda Headquarters, because I also never recieved this memo either. I am also still waiting for my free toaster.

2002-02-20 10:21:53 AM
I think the moral decline of our nation and the entire world should be blamed on gays and lesbians. Damn them for loving someone of the same sex. Love is bad. Let's all hate based on misinformation and some stupid (misinterpreted) book written and rewritten over the past 2000 years.

Can someone say "speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeecious" hoo boy

Yes, monetary greed did not exist until we began to allow a few small benefits to a handful of people. Urk!

Oops! My bad y'all. Sorry.

Naughty, naughty,Pjabbott.
You forgot the first commandment of fundie editorialization.
1)Thou shall not use logic in any form.

2002-02-20 10:31:13 AM
It is stupid ass comments like this that do nor help their cause. Religious Fundies and PETA do very little to help their causes by making whacky allegations and outrageous acts. Maybe they could use a PR Director..for 6 figures I am available.

God, this is farking hilarious. As if backin the 50's, corporations were full of saintly, charity minded executives who would have never done something evil.

This has inspired me. I'd like to formally accuse all Christians of causing every murder committed in this country in the past year. It's clear that this piece of literature called "The Bible", with it's graphic depiction of the Kane and Able murder, has directly caused an "air of violence" in todays society. I won't rest until society wakes up, and takes action against the clearly terrible threat Christians and their "Bible" are posing against our society today.

Tasty? Certainly.

Stupid queers.

2002-02-20 10:41:22 AM
There's an agenda? They never mentioned any agenda in homo boot camp, and I never see it in the minutes from our weekly, global gay meetings.

2002-02-20 10:43:09 AM
Apparently Enron was to be called InRon, but Ron complained.

2002-02-20 10:43:51 AM
Sorry Diogenes, I just got forwarded the memo concerning Enron and apparently the agenda's executive comittee also is pushing for a twenty minute remix of the national anthem. I've got to attend more meetings.

"hmm... Christian newspapers. No need to read any further. Crap, crap, crap."

Not that I am agreeing with this article but isn't you statement exactly the kind of blanket generalization that could be called "bigotry"

big·ot Pronunciation Key (bgt)
n.
One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

Just a thought....

2002-02-20 10:51:45 AM
If you read the article, the claim is that the corporations allow for benfits for same sex partners (which is true). Also, the the corporations do business in places where same sex marriages or benefits are illegal (which is also true).

So from these two true statements, we get the conclusion that same sex partners help the companies to grow more comfortable with doing things they are illegal, and this helped cause the corruption and dishonesty within Enron and other companies. Um, anyone remember the logical fallicies from a few weeks ago? The conclusion seems to be a bit of a stretch from the premises, though I can't remember the term for the fallacy used.

...then all xians are abortion clinic bombers.

Eh, I don't see a problem with that. I mean, because some Arabs (including Palestinians) are terrorists, we have racial profiling going on (up here in Michigan anyone with Arab in them, or know Muslims, were invited down to their local station for a "chat" after 9/11.), and lots of Americans wanting to nuke all rag/towel heads.

Is Enron a Bathhouse or something?

You mean like Christian groups making blanket generalizations about other groups? These people use the Bible as the foundation of their argument. Since the Bible is a 2000 year old book, subject to infinite changes, subject to individual opinion with no verifiable authenticity it's not a relevant set of facts upon which to base anything. What if I'm a Muslim? Anything the bible has to say is irrelevant (and vice verca). It's an invalid point of reference for a factual discussion. I hear these types say things like 'but the bible says...'. Who's bible? Which version and who's interpretation? If we're going to make accusations, laws or government policy lets do it based on factual information, logic and common sense, not because 'the bible tells us so'. That's why I say, crap, crap, crap.

So their basing the downfall on the idea that domestic partner benefits conflict with sodomy laws? Do they not realize that you can be a straight couple and even a married straight couple and be breaking sodomy laws? If you're doing anything other than just sticking it in the ol' Virginia you're basically breaking these laws. Domestic partner benefits are not illegal in any way, shape, or form. They have nothing to do with sodomy laws. I'm betting that about 95% of couples, straight or gay, break sodomy laws (oral sex, anyone?). You can technically be a gay couple and not break sodomy laws (boring, but legal). Their logic...well...it just really doesn't even measure up as logic, good or bad.

2002-02-20 11:19:48 AM
So they are....
It's a Hoosier thing. I apologize.

2002-02-20 11:22:52 AM
Never mind the lack of logic in the argument. What about that premise! Since when has anal sex been limited to gays? Anal sex may be illegal in many states in the US, but that's never stopped me (a straight guy) and my girlfriends!

"If we're going to make accusations, laws or government policy lets do it based on factual information, logic and common sense, not because 'the bible tells us so'. That's why I say, crap, crap, crap. "

But to claim that it is all "crap, crap, crap" based only on the source shows that you are as narrowminded as SOME of the people who might write for thoses newspapers. All I am saying is that if you are as intelligent as you seem to be you know that you should read and then decide as opposed to making up your mind before getting the information.

Your claimimplies that there are no facts, logic or common sense in these particular newspapers. You may even be right, but how will you know unless you read it?

(5)And then Jesus spake unto them, saying, "And it shall come to pass that a nassive energy cor-poration in the land of Tex-as shall collapse unto itself.
(6)And the heathens seeing this sall say, 'Look it is obvious! Can you not see that unchecked capitalism has failed us? We should find the CEOs of the cor-poration and hold them responsible!"
(7)But God who knows all will tell his people, "Lo, be ye not fooled. These CEOs love Me and are blameless in mine eyes. The evil sodomites have caused this to come to pass! Enact Mine Vengance!'
(8)And those homos blew up the World Trade Cneter too"
(9)And all who heard this rejoiced and praised Him.

2002-02-20 11:42:25 AM
bottom line, these people will always find someone to point the finger at to tell them that they are sinners thus making them all the better in their god's eyes. Live and let live....

2002-02-20 11:45:35 AM
I think the point they (the Fundies) were trying to make is that a climate of moral relativism is at the core of the Enron downfall. They go too far when they stretch the point out to include the gay issues (give 'em a break ... it's their obsession).

2002-02-20 11:55:27 AM
I am not too sure but I think that for the most part nearly everyone in this country knows in some way someone who is homosexual. Also for the most part they don't care, I mean it doesn't affect my life what other people do in private and seeing two people of the same sex kissing does not freak me out if they want to do it in public like any other couple. So by the common interpretation of acceptable this is coming to be something more common and consequently not something that people say "well if they can get away with that I might as well take home some office equipment or just outright defraud my coworkers by ripping off their retirement fund" these arguments just do not hold water.

Fb- ...wouldn't it be funnier if you said "wrecked 'im? It nearly killed him!"

:P

Back to the agenda...

But if you don't subscribe to a religion, which I don't, you have to rely on moral relativism. There are no definites without religion. You just have to use your little brain to figure it out on your own. I just don't think some people can (don't want?) to do that on their own and need (want?) someone else to do it for them. Whatever floats your boat. But I refuse to accept this constant use of "moral relativism" as a pejorative phrase; like it's dirty. Without religion, that's all you've got. Sorry about it. With a very large percentage of the world's population not buying into religion completely (look how areligious Europe has become, along with large portions of Asia without a really religious bent) you had better hope that people can work out morals on their own. Let's see, Europe is much less religious. It also has a much lower crime rate than the US. It also has a much stronger drive to take care of people thru a social system (it might not work, but it does give pretty good evidence that their society values human welfare). It seems maybe a society doesn't go straight to hell (pun possibly intended) without a strict religious moral compass.
