KarmicHoax:

I also think it's crappy how men are in commercials. Why would a woman want a moronic dolt that she has to treat like a child?

Thank you. I'm glad to hear a woman (other than my hot wife) agree with me on this one.

(BTW, not kidding about the "hot" comments.)

Ok, on the risk of sounding stupid, what is a GIS search?

I'm sure it doesn't bother most women to envision themselves in that role, so they can identify with what they're seeing and feel empowered.

What really bothers me though is that it seems to be becoming more and more prevalent in ads and crappy sitcoms (like ALL of them). If the tables were reversed (as someone else mentioned), women would be screaming bloody murder about it.

This is the smartest thing I've heard all day.

Also, what's with commercials that show guys getting kicked in the nuts or getting hit with golf balls down there, and it's somehow funny? Imagine if there was a representation of a women getting struck in the crotch. I don't really want to see either sex on the receiving end of this kind of injury!

Google Image Search.

I prefer Altavista, they have video and audio searches.

haha stupid fatties. why you so fat, fatty?

Your constant off base assumptions and the insufferable penchant of holding forth is going to trip you up someday.

Happens when you think you are smarter than you actually are.

But one actor said: It smacks of hypocrisy by a firm whose products have been proven to make people overweight.

You mean... food?

2004-11-05 01:36:04 PM
Does any other restaurant show fat people in their ads? Heck, not many ads of ANY KIND use fat people. Duh.

I don't see how this is any different from a candy company not using people with acne or bad teeth. Which again isn't saying much because the only time you will see people with bad teeth in commercials is in ads for things that fix bad teeth, and the only time you will see people with acne in commercials is in ads for things that fix acne.

But you CERTAINLY will never see commercials that feature realistic potrayals of customers. No coffee ad will show jittery people with stained teeth. No alcohol ad will show drunken idiots. You won't even see a mattress ad featuring a female slumberer sans makeup or with even a hair out of place.

That's how commercials are!

2004-11-05 01:36:13 PM
yeah, I know. ep1 & 2 had great trailers as well.
It makes me cry that the imagery, visuals and actors are in place, just no diaglouge or direction...

thanks again for the post.

2004-11-05 01:36:13 PM
Okay, the commercials with men as morons are bad... but getting hit in the nuts? That just classic comedy!!

2004-11-05 01:36:14 PM
A GIS Search is a redundant use of the word 'Search'.

GIS = Google Image Search.

"Prosperity doesn't always foster excess. Most of the overweight people in America are poor."
A good point, but I was referring to prosperous nations as a whole. To be sure, there are people so poor in places like this that they can't afford to eat McDonald's, but the average poor person in these nations is downright comfortable as compared to citizens of other less prosperous nations.

Mr. Clarence Butterworth

If you say so, it must be right! Because you're psychic, and not smarter than you think are at all, you're in the "just right" column in your own mind.

Thanks for the tips!

To make words bold enclose them in the html <b>bold</b> tags.

To make worlds appear in italics enclose them in the <i>italics</i> tags.

There is that hotdog add where the pudgy blodne bloke is talking about how he likes his meat "girthy" while he is sucking on a roasted weinie.

"I kinda want to stick a pin in the fat kid to see if he pops."

Yeah, I'm not sure what it says about me, but whenever I see the stories about the people nearing or eclipsing a ton, the first thing I wonder is what would happen if you rolled them out the loading ramp of a cargo plane 1000 feet over the Salt Flats...

2004-11-05 01:40:15 PM
screw mcdonalds.

go to a country buffet or something similar. you can almost hear the 500 pounders getting fatter. some of them have about 8 plates and 5 cups of soda and sit at a table by themselves.

I too am getting sick of all the commercials and sitcoms portraying men as fat dumbasses with the hottie smartass wife. I'm thinking because the target audience for this crap is usually women - I'm sure it doesn't bother most women to envision themselves in that role, so they can identify with what they're seeing and feel empowered.

What really bothers me though is that it seems to be becoming more and more prevalent in ads and crappy sitcoms (like ALL of them). If the tables were reversed (as someone else mentioned), women would be screaming bloody murder about it.

We must rise up, my brothers. Throw off your shackles of emasculation and be free. FREEEEDOMMMM!

Sorry. Had to get that off my chest.

ugh, god I hate this argument. dude, why are you watching gay-ass sitcoms in the first place? that's like turning on the view or rosie o'donnell every day and complaining that they bash men.

like you said, it's a female fantasy/imaginary empowerment. who cares? you want women to band together and take away your completely fake, self-serving fantasies? ok then.

who besides Andrea Dworkin "screams bloody murder" about porn?

Truth is, McDonalds should have said something like

"people that would reflect today's healthy lifestyle"

and not

"No fat bastards"

McDonalds and sitcoms are GOOD for you, please keep eating and watching and shopping at WAL MART.

I dunno... Maybe its the female revenge for how they've been portrayed over the years.

In all honesty, I find strong, smart women more attractive than the converse, but the trend of male emasculation really bothers me. I can't say I'd like see it becoming a cultural norm to assume men are total dumbasses and will take any abuse handed to them because Jim Freakin' Belucshi made it ok.

2004-11-05 01:45:40 PM
Fat people should have to pay a premium for food. Hell, we do the same thing to smokers, why not help fat people by making them pay more for their addiction.

This flame war would be a lot better if Mr. Clarence Butterworth was a hot chick.

I don't watch that tripe. I'm just making a point because seemingly millions of people do watch it. The trend disturbs me.

Anybody else think that Karmichoax and Butterworth are going to hook up after a frenzy of pent up fark insults?

GIS Search is like saying ATM Machine. When I hear it, it makes me want to do something unpleasant to the person who says it.

Like make them eat at McDonalds and get fat! HO HO! HA!

I don't know about other men, but I can do the stupid thing pretty well, so I'm not sure what your saying about all those adverts...

Is there really a Big kahuna Burger or did Tarantino make it up?
