The only thing I really find funny about the results of the election is the terrorism angle. Exit polling showed that this was a major issue to Americans, yet the regions of the United States that are mostly likely to be targetted by terrorist went heavily Democrat. Regions of the U.S. that are unlikely to be hit, went Republican. Go figure. I guess that corn husker in Nebraska is pretty worried about a plane flying into his silo...

Not to mention, the polls also showed that a large number of Americans like to shove their morality down the throats of others. I'm still struggling to figure out what is so moral about that.

Dont mock us for leaving. You canservatives have expressed in this very 'forum' your desire to round up and kill all those who tweak your insecurities (like Jews, liberals, PhD's, hippies, and homosexuals). People like myself and my family.

You wont let us be, You wont let us live.

Let us go.

IF we cant stay, and we cant leave, we will (reluctantly) Fight you.

Ah, the perversely exciting smell of civil war. Actually, bloody revolution works initially, but it also creates from the ensuing chaos the same conflict that the current vile situation of America now reeks of. All-in-all, it's likely the only way Americans will escape the tyranny and oppression of the Republican mind. The opposing values North and South are ever the more alive in America.

However, it worked during the French Revolution, with the indescriminate beheadings of the upper class.

/recommends: Fight Club - the violent yet non-violent way to affect the right kind of change.

Here's a thought. Since in both countries the east coasters hate the west coasters and vice versa and both countries have liberals and conservatives why not rotate the existing border 90deg. Split the whole shebang in half and liberals move to the left coast, conservatives to the right coast. Maybe add a buffer zone in the middle for the apolitical and fringe element, sort of a depolitisized zone. Whaddya say? Deal?

Were those exit polls?

I have read about half of these comments. Someone above said it is the conservatives being tolerant on this thread. What? No really, What?

You won ok? All of us liberals are completely disenfranchised from the system. You own every branch of the government. You get to do whatever you want to this country without anyone to stop you. And you still have to grind it in?

What kind of people are you?

2004-11-03 08:47:45 PM
Wanted to move to Canada anyway. This election isn't driving me there.

But it will likely speed up the departure.

And hey all you super insightful conservative raconteurs, who says my wife and I can't fight against your asses back home while we live where we choose?

Or hadn't anybody told you in alternative school about dual citizenship? Moving the location of my home =/= giving up, taking my ball and going home or any other brainless AM radio cliche you choose to spout.

Enjoy your war.

I have no problems with Canada just so you know. I am directing my comments to the few Canadians that are here trying to tell us how great Canada is compared to the United States. Canada has its fair share of problems just like we do.

What kind of people are you?

The kind with extremely LONG memories. After 4 years of vomit from liberals and your ilk, it's time for your comeuppance.

Take your medicine like a man and STFU. We're driving. You can sit in the back, take pictures of the pretty sunsets and complain (not too loudly though) about the quality of the food.
That's about it.

I don't see why people want to move to Canada. It's only a matter of time before Bush invades that too.

Because presumably, if Bush invades Canada, and you're in Canada, you won't get in trouble with the government for resisting. :)

Getting advise from a dork from Denmark is like getting advise from a Democrat on how to win a Presidential election. (hehehehe)

You guys (danes) make the no dick French look like Audey Murphy (look him up). At least it took the Nazi's 6 weeks to kick the Frenchey's ass but it took the Nazi's only TWO farkING HOURS to conquor Denmark;
"On April 9, 1940, German forces moved into neutral Denmark. Sixteen Danish soldiers died defending Denmark, but after only two hours of military resistance the Danish government surrendered hoping to work out an advantageous agreement with Germany."

Why, again, should the superpower United States, take advise from the ultimate butt boys of Europe?

I have no problems with Canada just so you know. I am directing my comments to the few Canadians that are here trying to tell us how great Canada is compared to the United States. Canada has its fair share of problems just like we do.

Of course we do, who doesn't? In the end, it all boils down to which problems are worse for you specifically. Right now, I'd rather have ours. In the mid-90's, I'd have rather had yours. It moves about a bit.

Add to that, it also depends on which specific social values you prize. In many ways, the United States is freer, but in many ways the same is true for Canada. For example, I saw some comments about the 1st amendment above. Yep, we have laws against hate speech, laws I question because I hold censorship in low regard, but then we don't fine broadcasters for a booby flash on T.V. either.

BeerNut -- Right you are, Ken!

Don't know why Canadians are so anti-Bush... it was Kerry who was talking protectionism that would further hurt Canadian business. It was Kerry who wants to prevent us in Toronto from shipping our trash to Michigan.

Add to that the fact that the Canuckbuck is charging upwards against the greenback, and I think we should have a respect and love for Bush, notwithstanding any real and/or perceived "snubs" we may have "endured" due to the huge personal animosity between Bush and former PM Chretien.

For a quick guide to why so many of us are interested in your election, and why some of us feel the urge to tell you what to do, consider the words of Trudeau: "Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt."

And to continue the analogy, when you're sleeping next to an elephant, you'd better be aware when it's about to roll over, or it ends up very badly for you.

When Bush reinstates the draft, the idiots who voted for him will be the first ones in line to emigrate to Canada. They'll do all they can to avoid serving their country just as Bush and most of his cronies did.

To those who say they're tired of hearing liberals whine about the election results, don't worry, Bush will send your asses to Iraq or Iran soon.

004-11-03 08:42:42 PM dubdub

funny how all the states without coasts are pro-wiener..

Dubdub, you're kind of a troll and kind of annoying, but I'll enlighten you.

People who live in the middle of the country are a little different. The ground is flat, the people are white, and there is nothing for 1000 miles in any direction except more of the same. Very few of them ever leave the United States for any reason. Very few people from outside the United States ever go there for any reason.

This doesn't exist in Europe, where a day's drive will put you in a country with different languages, different food, different holidays, and a different church.

The people are nice, the lawns are well-kept, and lots of it is considered "a nice place to raise children" (i.e. stable, god-fearing, without much to scare you beyond fierce, cold winters), It's nothing I'd want for myself or any of my children, but there are some good things to say for it.

But all that flat ground and all that homogenity can't help but affect how you see the world.

2004-11-03 09:07:27 PM
President Bush was visiting a primary school and he visited one of the classes. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings.

The teacher asked the President if he would like to lead the discussion on the word "tragedy". So the illustrious leader asked the class for an example of a "tragedy".

One little boy stood up and offered: If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be a tragedy."

"No," said Bush, "that would be an accident."

A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy."

"I'm afraid not," explained the president. "That's what we would call a great loss."

The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Bush searched the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?"

Finally at the back of the room a small boy raised his hand..In a quiet voice he said: "If Air Force One carrying you was struck by a "friendly fire" missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy."

"Fantastic!" exclaimed Bush. "That's right. And can you tell me why that would be tragedy?"

"Well," says the boy, "It has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn't be a great loss and it probably wouldn't be an accident either.

/old joke, applies to any disliked president, of course

Invade Canada? Do you folks not have a clue about our secret defense system? Oops, said too much already. Although many of you may think of us as your little brother, we are little brother to many. What do you think the response to such an act would be from some of our friends, eg. Russia, China, Great Britain, India, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Israel, and so on and so on. Heck, we have friends we haven't even used yet, maybe that's why we have so many friends. Schoolyard rules as usual, don't pick on the little kid or the seniors will bust your ass.

Just remember, if you crash while driving, you have nobody to blame but yourself. If that happens, I wonder if you will still love Bush for giving you President Hillary? Frankly, based on the last few years, I think you will be seeing another Clinton in the White House.

Personally, I hope Bush does turn it around. Frankly, the United States and the world actually needs him to do so.

Hey, OldButtFart:

dubdub isn't an American, you idiot. He's from DENMARK. You know, one of the many countries around the world whose citizens are laughing at us right now because the majority of our voters are too dumb to see Bush for what he is.

I heard on the CBS radio news that Bush's first priority in his second term is to destroy, er, "restructure" Social Security. Don't be surprised if you end up with nothing after you retire.

There has been a reason you have been hearing from us liberals for the last four years. Your main man is driving this country into the ground. And you like it! And there is nothing I can do to stop it. If that makes you happy, so be it.

If "vomit" = dissent, then I will continue to "vomit" for the next four years as long as Bush continues to rule the way that he has so far.
