I happen to know that the Reuters reporter who wrote the article is a right wing American working in the Ottawa bureau and is a fundamentalist Christian.
So he is naturally predisposed to hate Canada's health care system. Ailing health care system is an opinion, not a fact.

If you move away because the outcome of the election wasn't what you wanted it to be, you are a pussy. Good riddance, we don't want you here.
2004-11-03 06:40:38 PM
is there another planet i could move to? Bush and Wolfy do want to take this one over, right?

Terrence and Phillip had no comment, other than to fart in each others' face and laugh.

4 more years, what are you pussies going to do now? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Hehe. This thread is funny.

As a Democrat who feels that my government will probably never truly reflect my beliefs (I'm not a member of America's dipshiat majority), I have on occasion thought that I might be happier living in a place which believes a litle more strongly in helping the weak and poor, and seperation church and state.

Thankfully for the families of the 72 Americans I currently employ, I'm staying for now. Anyone who thinks that I should go, please feel free to inform all my employees that that they'll be losing their jobs and I'll consider it.

According to Australia's web page, asylum is granted based on a U.N. convention to people who "are unable or unwilling to return or to seek the protection of [their usual country of residence] due to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion." War, famine, and environmental collapse are explicitly not reasons to grant asylum.

Sens: Nice.

As a Canadian, this opinion means dick all, of course. What some of you Merkins might be identifying as criticism largely isn't. It's due to the fact that Canadians, as a whole, are pretty wary of extremism, religious and otherwise.

Everything in moderation, even moderation.

(BTW, jebert, way to be a hate-filled troll)

Damn.. Could you imagine John Galt on a radio show, nationwide? Sigh.

I imagine that if he ever did get a radio show, he'd never make himself deaf by overdosing on massive quantities of prescription pain pills every day.

4 more years, what are you pussies going to do now? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

This is why I have a hard time taking anyone on the right seriously. Sadly, this is far too representative of much of their contribution to the national dialogue on, well, just about everything.

What am I going to do? Go to work, pay taxes, same shiat I've been doing for the last four years. And in four years, vote against whatever religious fundie warmongering zealot the Republicans put up then, too. Unless it's McCain, I might vote for him.
2004-11-03 06:46:13 PM
To all you idiots throwing a temper tantrum because the election didn't turn out the way you thought it would and are screaming about leaving the country, I say to you "Bon Voyage." Don't bother coming back either, because obviously you can't handle living in a Democracy. Yes, that means sometimes people don't vote the way you want them to, no matter how much you condescend to them. (That whole 'you're too stupid to understand my plan so just do what I say because you NEED govt.' didn't really work that well.)

Guess what? The whole 'lol Bush is dum he's teh chimp lolz' and all the crappy photoshops in the world don't mean squat when the guy running against him has nothing to go on other than 'HAY GUYZ I'M NOT BUSH LOLZ BOY HE SURE IS DUM, AM I RITE? HAIL TO TEH CHIMP, RITE? OMGWTF?!?!' Try harder next time and try not to act like children when running a campaign and maybe you'll win.

Amen, azanth, although while I supported McCain in the past, I won't support that partisan shill in any future election. (Although he's still 1000x better than Guliani. He is as much of a lying sack of shiznit as Duhbya.)
2004-11-03 06:50:00 PM
Would anyone like to point out to Xoliik that we don't live in a Democracy, but rather a Republic?

I kind of surmise that he will not notice the distinction between the two, during his few free minutes while shoopping for new wheels for his mobile home.
2004-11-03 06:50:03 PM
Demy liberal cry babies. When Bush's 4 years are up, who the hell are you going to get to run against McCain? Hillary? Gore? Gore's twin brother John Edwards? Have fun soaking your pillow for the next 12 years.
2004-11-03 06:52:51 PM
Do you excuse makers think that your party bedfellows dont lie? Come on get real!
2004-11-03 06:53:02 PM

is because you're piggy backing on the most powerful country in the world

Damn straight. We're Master, you're Blaster. Why spend money and resources (that we don't have in the first place, I think you're forgetting our population is miniscule compared to that of the USA) when we have a 300 pound retard right underneath us who's going to defend us anyway?
2004-11-03 06:53:14 PM
Demy liberal cry babies. When Bush's 4 years are up, who the hell are you going to get to run against McCain? Hillary? Gore? Gore's twin brother John Edwards? Have fun soaking your pillow for the next 12 years.

What makes you think the fundies in your party are going to let McCain get the nomination? You dumbasses crushed him in your own primary last time. Maybe if you'd let him run, you'd have had a cakewalk instead of a nailbiter this time. Face it, McCain is 100 times the man Bush is, and your own frickin party can't handle that. So when whoever-is-running beats Cheney in 4 years, you can cry in your own damn pillow.
2004-11-03 06:55:43 PM

I agree McCain is way better than Bush. Which is scary to you because who can beat him? Sorry Cheney will not run in 2008, he will probably be dead of a heart attack by then.

The american NE should start a referendum to join Canada. I like NY.
2004-11-03 06:59:41 PM
No thanks. We've got enough whiny liberals up here.
2004-11-03 07:00:08 PM
Ha ha! I just love seeing the neofascist rightwingers post after reading the comments of some hardcore lefty like myself. Ol' Rush Limpballs gets them stoked with hate 'n anger when they are on the road, and then they watch tv at home and they grit their teeth everytime the so called liberal media flaunts some token socially-liberal aspect of itself (as opposed to an economically liberal aspect, which the American media ain't). THen they see my comments on Fark, and then the steam really starts coming out of their ears....

Ah, the righteous hatred of the neofascist!
2004-11-03 07:00:25 PM
Advice to Americans considering making the move: Don't move to Alberta. They're all (okay, not all... but a very noisy minority) busy trying to leave Canada because we voted the Liberals back to Ottawa back in June.

Just goes to show that the stupid "If I can't have it my way, I'm taking my ball and going home!" approach to politics comes from both sides.

Quebec may also not be the best choice.

British Columbia, however, would be an excellent choice. They have a long history of electing left-wing governments (and electing provincial governments in general that implode in scandal and criminal charges... but that's another story.)

Ontario may be okay for now for you, since we're under provincial Liberals for the next four years, following last year's unfortunate election of the Reptillian Kitten-Eater from Outer Space and his Platform O' Lies, but you might wanna keep your important stuff packed up, since we have a habit of going back and forth (provincially) between Liberals and Conservatives, depending on how mad we are at the incompetence of whoever had the ball most recently.
2004-11-03 07:00:42 PM
I am an American liberal, the extreme kind, and I cant anymore. I am living in a nation of asshats. So I am putting the call out the all the countries of the world, I need a new country to live in. But not just any country, there are a few standards that need to be met before I will consider moving there.

1. White majority: Ever notice how most of us never say we will move to Mexico or South Korea, its always Canada or England? Thats because were elitists and dont want to live among certain people, if you catch my drift. Sure, we preach tolerance and diversity, but thats for the common folk. Your country must have a solid white majority. Canada, Australia, New Zealand and most of the European countries, youre on my list.

2. English speaking: You expect me to learn a new language? No, you speak my language. Sorry Germany and France, youre off the list. This leaves Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain.

3. Free Healthcare: I expect my new countrymen, who have been living and working in their country all their lives, to pay for my sick ass without me contributing anything to your society. Youre going to pay for it, and youre going to like it. Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain, youre still on the list.

4. Separation of Church and State: In the US, we have this thing called Separation of Church and State. Its all well and good in theory, but there is a small problem. A lot of people actually form opinions and ideas based on their religious beliefs. It's outrageous! I want to live in a society that is totally secular. If I see one religious symbol, Im going off. I dont want to live under a government that meddles in church affairs or has a state run church. So lets see, checking my list of countries that leaves...oh damn.

You sir, are my new hero!
2004-11-03 07:01:55 PM
Which is scary to you because who can beat him?

Not scary to me at all, I like the guy. Too bad your own fundie religious-controlled party will never let him run. He's far too centrist for their taste. And if he wins, hey, it's not Bush. I'd be happy with that.
2004-11-03 07:01:58 PM
How many American civilians have been killed on American soil by the Bush Administration?

One hell of a lot, thanks to the war on people who use drugs. Not that he's done any worse than Clinton.
2004-11-03 07:02:29 PM
Azanth: Attn jackass...

Cheney won't be running in 4 years.

2004-11-03 07:02:35 PM
"Canada, which has an ailing health care system and relatively high levels of personal taxation.

Yeah can't wait to get up there..."

2004-11-03 07:05:36 PM
If you're such an left-wingnut liberal and want to move to canada, move the fark out. we don't want you here. I didn't vote for bush or kerry, but if a TRUE extreme leftist dictator like Stalin was in power, i'd move. If you think Bush is a dictator or extreme in any meaning of the word, you're too stupid to remain in this country.
2004-11-03 07:07:09 PM
"there's a long wait..."

....but please, don't let that stop you! Get out! Get the fark out!
2004-11-03 07:07:13 PM

Canada isn't that hard to find. Be sure to say hello to the Vietnam war draft dodgers. Me thinks you guys will be best of friends since you share the same view of America.
2004-11-03 07:12:20 PM
If you really want to live in Canada, here's the quick and easy way to do it:

1-go to Canada as a tourist
2-get rid of your papers
3-make up a South African accent, make-up a bogus story of persecution, and run down to the nearest immigration office

the process will take a long time, and in the meanwhile, you'll have a work permit. If they refuse you entry, you can try again a few months.

sad, but true >:|
2004-11-03 07:12:21 PM
Bush is a dictator or extreme

Bush WOULD be extreme if he was indeed a dictator. Just look at the vitriol spewing out of the right-wingers in any Fark thread. You think those guys (and they are almost all guys) are O.K. with a live-and-let-live philosophy? I do shudder to think at what Bush will do in the next 4 years now that he doesn't have to worry about re-election. Hopefully he won't go to whacko and fux0r his own party for the 2008 elections. I can only hope.

Which is why the idea of liberals moving to Canada because of this election sickens me. That's EXACTLY what the neocons want. If you REALLY want to help the American people, you need to stay and keep fighting just like you were 48 hours ago. It's easy to fight when you're winning; the true test of one's conviction comes when you have to fight when you're not.
2004-11-03 07:15:26 PM
Shouldn't be too much trouble, my parents are still Canadian citizens, I was born here though.
2004-11-03 07:16:45 PM
It's abundantly clear Canadians want no more left-wingers in their country.

Would they board a Libertarian?

Just a brief stopover before Morocco.

What's brief? Uh... less than a year and more than a day.

Be sure to say hello to the Vietnam war draft dodgers

You mean like the guy you (presumably) voted for?

I was considering moving to Canada, and then I heard they put mayonnaise on everything. Sorry, Id rather live in a country with Bush at the wheel than have mayo on my freedom fries.
2004-11-03 07:23:04 PM

Just remember America- You made your choice, now you have to live with it for 4 years.

But why should the 48% of us who desperately tried to push the country in a different direction also be forced to live with it?
2004-11-03 07:25:16 PM

I was considering moving to Canada, and then I heard they put mayonnaise on everything. Sorry, Id rather live in a country with Bush at the wheel than have mayo on my freedom fries.

Try this: 2 parts mayo, 1 part mustard, 1 part honey. Best french fry dipping sauce ever.

We do use ketchup on our fries, but real hardcore Canadians like vinegar. I went to a diner once in Michigan and asked for vinegar for my fries; the waitress looked at me like I was insane.
2004-11-03 07:26:45 PM
But why should the 48% of us who desperately tried to push the country in a different direction also be forced to live with it?

Because that's a democracy.

Not saying I'm happy with how it all worked out -- but for God's sake show some backbone. We had 12 years of Republicans in the 80's, and somehow the country didn't fall apart despite what the Dems said. We had 8 years of a Democrat in the 90's, and somehow the country didn't fall apart despite what the Repubs said. The only thing leaving now would do is ensure that the one-party state we dread so much comes to fruition that much sooner.
2004-11-03 07:26:50 PM
I want to know where all of the lefties went.....before the election, a post like this would have been to infinity and beyond. After Fox called Ohio early this morning, I wondered if there was going to be a mass exodus to the Canadian Border.
I guess that's why there aren't as many posts calling Bush a chimp and spouting Mike Moore rhetoric.
One thing that the lefties were right about before the election was that there are millions of Brownshirts who would elect Bush for 4 more years. Dems were getting out the base vote and registering new voters. They didn't plan on the GOP to do the same thing only better.
Tad Devine at 6:00 last night looked as if he were the cat that ate the canary. By 8:00 he looked as nervous as a whore in church.
The OBL tape didn't work, the exit polls didn't work and the country has been spared.
Haven't heard from Bruce Springsteen today. Maybe he's left the country too.

\raises a pint

Fine, go to Canada. Way to stick it to the democratic process.

We lost? Well! I'm going to take my ball and go home.
2004-11-03 07:31:05 PM
I just hope when the "stealth" comets hit they hit us first. We farking deserve it.
2004-11-03 07:31:06 PM

I sure wish you guys would make up your minds. Do you want those that are not happy to leave, or do you want them to stay?

/I'm staying, just asking.
2004-11-03 07:34:46 PM

It's not so much taking a ball and going home as much as it is arguing with a wall and just wanting to make the pain stop.
2004-11-03 07:35:08 PM
is it moran or moron?
I wish it was Chrissy Moran
2004-11-03 07:36:39 PM
I think Bush is a decent man and though I am not thrilled with what he has done thus far, I am not about to leave the country for him getting reelected. I hope he can turn this country around and he has my full support and backing to do it.

Having said that, I must say that many of the ardent Bush supporters have shown themselves to be one the most classless bunches of people I've seen. I have always assumed my liberal friends were just being partisan when they complained about these people. But my God, some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. The last thing this country needs right now is more of this hate against our neighbors. Even Bush and Kerry seem to realize that. Grow up and stop tearing this country apart.
