I do believe that DarthBrooks has won the BIGGEST ASSHAT EVER ON FARK AWARD.

Seconded.

Heh.. Well, it look like Bear Toy holds a simillar sentiment.

I imagine there are possibly others as well, now.

Honestly, so long as I manage to make at least one person realize this? It will have been worth it. It would be foolish of me to expect several people to drop their hatred so readily (Although for a few moments, I was hoping it would happen).. especially when many people seem to have built their lives not around being who they are, but around not-being 'the left/right/etc.'

Gotta do this one little chip at a time. I'm just glad I'm stubborn as hell...

I for one believe that all liberals and conservatives need to have a major cannabis smokeathon on Nov 3 no matter who wins. We all need to chill out and realize these are rich peope fighting amongst themselves about how to get richer.

Bush - "Give me a second term and I'll catch this guy. Oh, after I go into Syria. Yah, that's it." Bush needs Osama like a preacher needs the devil. To those who see the devil behind everything, this plays well. To the rest of us, beware the wolf in sheep's clothing (bleat a bit for us, Dumbya).

2004-10-29 05:57:35 PM
Actually, on another note.. wasn't this man on a *Dialysis Machine* ? How on earth did they manage to keep that thing running?

check out the long hunt for osama from the october 2004 atlantic monthly (subscription required on the website, but you can pop down to your local library to flip through a copy). according to testimony from interrogated sources close to bin laden, including physicians, he's probably not on dialysis. not like we'd necessarily be able to believe such sources, but on these recent videos he is looking quite chipper.

I don't know if this is a joke or not, but if it isn't you have to most idiotic post I have ever seen on Fark... and that is a very low bar to get under.

I think you so-called "conservatives" have no idea what those words actually mean. You need to go study your vocabulary, because you think liberal means "whatever I don't agree with."

idiots.

I can not believe this guy is still out there mocking us after he killed 3,000 people on our on soil and you people are talking about what a great job Bush is doing. Unbelievable.

I hear ya, man.

We had the chance under Clinton to get this guy, but Republicans blocked him, screaming "Wag the dog!" and "Monica!" We could have gotten him again after the fact in Tora Bora, but we let him slip through our fingers.

Now, Afghanistan's falling apart again (despite those who put on blinders and say "the election went fine, the election went fine, if I just keep saying it, it will be true), and our attention's in an entirely other country, where we're manufacturing terrorists at a break-neck pace.

Why the fukk is this sonovabiatch still alive to make these videos?

Some reasonable exerpts from the video are finally making it to the news sites. Looks a lot less like "Osama endorses Kerry!" as the freepers are screaming, and a lot more like "Osama sticks his tongue out at Bush and Kerry both."

/Kill this evil bastard, already...

That's very true. This is the real reason we should be re-electing Bush.

2004-10-29 05:58:34 PM
Forget all other issues in this campaign. This is the one and only issue:

While our country was under direct attack, our fearless leader sat and read a childrens book!!!

He should have been impeached for that dereliction of duty.

"Mr. President, A second plane has hit the second tower. America is under attack."

And he proceeds to read a book to kids for 15 minutes, then hang around doing photo ops for another 30 minutes.

WHAT THE FARK???!?!?!?!?!??!

T.rex
VideoVader, your 'lets not spook the kids' arguement for Bush in the classroom is not valid. Who the hell cares about the emotional comfort of 30 kids, when thousands of people are losing their life?

You can care about them both; NORAD is dealing with one, you want to get to it ASAP, but you've got the other right in front of you. I also forgot to mention the TV cameras. Imagine you're the president, you've just gotten word that America's under attack, and not only are there a few dozen grade-school kids watching you, but there is also a line of news reporters in the background with cameras all focused on you, and all their pagers are going off at the same time. Whatever you do next, that very minute, the entire country might respond to.

And how spooky would it have been, anyway. "Uh, excuse us children. The President has some urgent business to attend to. See ya. Peace out."

That's exactly what Bush probably wanted to avoid; hence another reason for him to stick around until the end of the reading session, which was almost over anyway.

Rent FahrenHYPE 9/11; it goes through all that. Come to think of it, if Bin Laden borrows as much from Michael Moore as reports of the tape are saying, this could probably rebut part of the tape itself.

I'm not exaclty a fan on Ann Coulter, but thankfully, most of the factual analysis done by Dick Morris, David Hardy, Dave Kopel, and Ed Koch. I trust them more.

Kerry in a landslide?

Bush in a landslide?

Actually, it was an Asian toddler in a landslide...did you read FARK yesterday?

2004-10-29 05:59:35 PM
Veracity

This is wrong. If Bin Laden is running and concerned about his personal safety, he doesn't have the time, luxory or chances that he had before. Look now, he has to rely on a media outlet to send out his "commandments", for a while, the world wasn't even sure he was alive anymore. Having a "maybe dead" leader is not as inspiring as having a "free to roam and strut about" leader in a lethal revolt/revolution.

And the custody/dead thing is a strawman. Everyone knows if we kill Bin Laden it will be WORSE.

I disagree with you.

How many terrorist attacks attributed to al-Qaeda were there while Bin Laden had a cushy life, and how many have there been since he's been on the run? The ones I can think off off the top of my head are the club bombing in Indonesia, the Spain train bombing, a couple of embassy bombings, not to mention nearly daily car bombings in Iraq by groups with purported tied to al-Qaeda.

The fact that he's not necessarily planning attacks anymore (and if I'm not mistaken, he didn't plan the mechanics of 9/11, either, just financed it and came up with the idea) doesn't make his presence in the world any less of a threat.

Just been watching Newsnight on the Beeb, and one of the correspondents was asked in all seriousness "Who do you think Bin Laden wants to win?"
The answer was "Bush, of course. Bin Laden is first and foremost a businessman - and Bush is doing more than anyone to keep him in the terror business."
Right or wrong, I couldn't fault his logic.

Because al Qaeda didn't wait a decade between the two times it attacked the WTC or anything.

Nah, they don't plan. They just swoop right in as soon as they can. Not like they're so meticulous that the arrange funding for years in advance and even do things like send people to friggin' flight school for a year.

You want the truth about who Osama wants to win the election?

He doesn't care whether it's Bush or Kerry. Why? Because there isn't a nickel's worth of dofference in their foreign policies as far as the Mideast is concerned. They'll both support Israel's continued slaufghter of Palestinians and they'll both continue to support ruthless dictators, US meddling and occupation in the Mideast, and those are the issues Osama cares about.

If you think Osama actually has a preference between Bush and Kerry, then you are living in your own little world.

no shiat!

you know what pisses me off about this country? Kate Harris pulled off the biggest voter fraud in the HISTORY of the US months before the recount B.S. even happened, and the braindead people in this country don't even realize it. Hundreds of Democrats were expunged off the Florida voter roles for being "felons" when they had different middle names than was on the records. Some people were even listed with conviction dates that were in the future by as much as 8-10 years!

All you idiots complain about all these little details that don't mean anything, and idiots like this take your democracy away from you. You're all sheep... espcially you Bush ass-lickers. Wake up and look at the information that is in front of you.

Where WMDs exist in Iraq.

Where Saddam and OBL are buddies.

The "reality based" community is taking over.

Veracity

You realize of course that this is the most secretive administration in history..

96. The Bush Administration refuses to release twenty-seven pages of a Congressional report that allegedly detail the Saudi Arabian government's connections to the 9/11 hijackers.

97. Last year the Bush Administration spent $6.5 billion creating 14 million new classified documents and securing old secrets the highest level of spending in ten years.

98. The Bush Administration spent $120 classifying documents for every $1 it spent declassifying documents.

99. The Bush Administration has spent millions of dollars and defied numerous court orders to conceal from the public who participated in Vice President Cheney's 2001 energy task force.

100. The Bush Administration is reversing years of bipartisan tradition refuses to answer questions from Democratic members of Congress about how the White House is spending taxpayer money.

Is it really that far-fetched to consider the fact that maybe they planned 9/11 to accomplish all of their goals? To whip the state into a jingoist ferver so they could conduct their imperialist attack on Iraq without fear of homegrown dissent? They already had the Patriot Act and the Homeland Security departments planned and in writing before the attacks.

Think about it man.

I think a Bill Hicks quote is appropo:
I'm fascinated that our government could lie to us so blatantly, so obviously for so long, and we do absolutely nothing about it. I think that's interesting in what is ostensibly a democracy. Sarcasm - come on in.

the he isn't bombing anything line is nonsense. the whole point of the islamic terrorist uprising is that it highlights exactly how little resources are needed to engage the world's only superpower. there are many examples of what appear retalliatory bombings around the world carried out by al qaeda or associates in response to world events.

bin laden is a commander. he has goals. he wants to achieve those goals. i do not believe he is the kind of man to rush his cause. all evidence suggests he is happy to sit back and dictate the pace. at present his support worldwide is growing, the situations in iraq and afghanistan are both in the balance. the us has committed many troops to these areas. how does the tactician seek to further stretch american forces, reduce americas coalition and increase muslim discontent with america?

bin laden has a strong backing. but using that and those resources at once would lead to the movement burning out - maybe in a red hot nuclear glow - but without reaching the goals bin laden and others have set.

bin laden is not that sort of man, imo. not the sort of man to get carries away on his own publicity. so i think it unlikely that no bombing implies any weakness on bin ladne's part. i wouldn't rule it out though

UncleFriendly --
One reason is that the tape may be a communication to some of his followers -- who, in practice, are the dangerous ones.

A second reason, quite frankly, is that a sizeable percentage of the world is unduly obsessed with famous individuals, and adopt simplistic views of the world in which a few movers and shakers deserve responsibility for far too much. Witness, for instance, the Democratic-aligned groups cheerfully blaming Bush for high gas prices, while not bothering to mention the problems that Yukos, Royal Dutch Shell, Nigerian oil producers, the difficulty of economically funding more refineries, increased demand from China's growing manufacturing industry, and so forth. It's easier to assign credit or blame to a name, even when it's wrong.
