Back when I was a pitcher, I hit five people in one game. I actually hit the same guy three times. Hmm. Maybe I should try out for FSU baseball!

Ok, what'd this guy do to draw the beanballs?

Was it Coach?

Wow, I didn't know Bobby Bowden coached baseball too. Nor did I know Danny Wuerffel played baseball for Stanford.

Next time the pitcher says "stay away from my sister", he had better listen.

I got beaned by the catcher once. I was batting and the guy on second stole. I ducked down but the catcher double clutched the ball and plunked the side of my head when I came back up. The ball bounced out of play and the guy scored. That was the closest I got to an RBI all year.

This guy must stand right on top of the plate... otherwise, there'd be a huge brawl by the 3rd or 4th beaning, more likely than not. Not much information here, maybe the guy is really, really fat (huge target)? He didn't sound too concerned about it.

not sure how this rates a "SPIFFY", though...

In response, the batter was heard to reply "ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch!"

This guy must crowd the plate like none other.

I am AMAZED this kid did not charge the mound after the third or fourth plunking.

2002-02-18 12:45:47 PM
It would have been nice if ESPN had given some details.

I can see this guy not charging the mound. He was hit 14 times last season. His center of gravity must be around his ankles and allows him to lean over to the other side of the plate.

Somewhere Pedro Martinez is just salivating to see a guy like that at the plate. I bet he's one of those guys that wears a suit of armor on one side of his body to lean in. Baseball should ban that garbage. You crowd the plate, you take your chances.

I'm surprised Harmoania hasn't hit this thread and blamed GWB for the beanings.......

*sigh*, trolls just ain't what they used to be....

Did I tell you that I thought baseball sucks?
No?
Well, Baseball sucks IMO.

Slayerswine, you're resaons for hating baseball are persuasive and enlightening. :-)

And do they play winter ball down south this time of year? I wouldn't think all of D-I would have started yet.

Thank you for that thoughtful insight, Slayerswine. Now that I realize the error of my ways. I'd always enjoyed the sport until you informed me of that.

Themadjuggler: All Div. 1 schools are playing down here in the south. Minor leagues don't start until the bigs break camp, though.

Themadjuggler and Nabb1,
No problem. I think at least 50% of all Chicagoans feel the same way I do.

It is just my opinion. What do I know, except football and hockey are just so much more exciting than baseball.
