Ouch!

2004-10-28 02:48:52 PM
I'm sorry, was there something there about baseball? All I could see were six mounds of flesh.

2004-10-28 02:48:54 PM
Good ole New Yorkers, it's almost like no one else is allowed to enjoy success. There is one thing that no one can take away from the Yankees. They are the biggest chokers in baseball history.

Cursed inded.

2004-10-28 02:55:37 PM
Oh god.. not another Red Sox "Poor us" whinefest.

You guys are such thinskinned.. it's ridiculous.

You won! Stop crying!

2004-10-28 02:57:18 PM
Ahhh New York, showing some class! But seriously, who cares about the stupid paper, check out the boobies!!

2004-10-28 02:58:37 PM
The only person I see crying so far is you, Smooky...

2004-10-28 02:58:50 PM
I think they're saying that the Yankees won't win again until 2090.

2004-10-28 03:00:42 PM
Hey smooky -

Quit yer biatchin'.

2004-10-28 03:04:34 PM
Smooky, you don't see our papers attacking the Yankees on the front page. Ours actually cheers for our team.

2004-10-28 03:05:31 PM
Wow, thats harsh

Please tell me that's a joke. Red Sox fans were chanting "Yankees Suck" 6 minutes after they won, against St. Louis. There are simply no fans in professional sports who care more about another team than the one they support.

Simply put, the Red Sox are OBSESSED with the Yankees.

2004-10-28 03:14:19 PM
I'm not crying, you're crying.

Look at the thread when the Sox won. You guys said "YANKEES SUCK" and "TAKE THAT YANKEES"!

You beat the Cards to win it all. Christ, get off the Yankees' dick. You won! Congrats!

2004-10-28 03:14:36 PM
That's hilarious... get over it sox fans, it's a good prank.

2004-10-28 03:19:12 PM
i love it.

don't get used to winning. because save the "h," whining is pretty close to winning.

2004-10-28 03:20:46 PM
as a completely unbiased, outside, non baseball watching person to me it looks like the Red Socks have a reson to tell the Yankees to "take that"... his name is Babe Ruth and it is the whole "curse" thing. I reckon some people forget that at some point.

Good on ya Red Socks. At last the curse is broken... now send some of that good mojo over to my Vikings and things will be all good :)

/really does hate baseball

2004-10-28 03:25:30 PM
oh and that being said, I thought that was a pretty funny response from a New York paper :)

My point was not talking about the fans, but the newspapers.

2004-10-28 03:27:24 PM
stupid italics not working...grumble grumble...

My bit was "my point was not talking about the fans, but the newspapers."

2004-10-28 03:31:00 PM
Well, seeing as how I don't control the newspapers... I don't know what to say.

If I ever become the editor of the Daily News, i'll just have Lil Kim naked on the back page the next time the Sox win the World Series.

2004-10-28 03:31:30 PM
The furthest thing from a Yankee fans mind after winning championships (which we've been lucky enough to have some experience in) is the farking Red Sox.

Will this win help the new englanders get over their inferiority complex with New York?

Maybe, but, Red Sox fans chanting the Yankees name after winning the biggest series in a few of their lifetimes certainly is cause for concern.

Get over it, and enjoy your win because your teams back on the couch next year.

Are the Yankees really taking Pedro AND Lowe from you? Thats scary.

now that I would like. Please get that job. I'll do the same if I ever become the editor of the Boston Herald. Finally something we agree on! ;-)

2004-10-28 03:38:35 PM
Are those Yankee fans still whining about the biggest choke in baseball history?

2004-10-28 03:40:36 PM
So Red Sox fans are supposed to take years of abuse from Yankees fans and when the moment finally comes that they are the team on top for once they're not supposed to tell the Yanks to cram it? Whatever.

I'm a Cubs fan and you can bet that if they do win a World Series before I die, I'll spend the first 4 hours celebrating and an hour after that laughing at any Cardinals fans within range.

PS. Cardinals suck.

2004-10-28 04:34:54 PM
Prozac for everyone! On the house!

2004-10-28 04:47:49 PM
Aww did some Yankee fan at the NY Post get his feelings hurt? Poor little guy. When the Yankees visit Fenway next year I hope the fans chant 2000, 2000, 2000.... over and over and over and over. Anyway, I wonder who will kick the Yankees ass next year.

2004-10-28 04:49:15 PM
er um The Daily News rather... no difference the evil empire can eat shiat

2004-10-28 05:12:47 PM

2004-10-28 05:17:34 PM
The Daily News, reeeal reputable news orginaztion there, oh and really classy. If my memory serves me correct they were the ones who had "Death Comet" plastered on the front page when Columbia went down. Oh, that and it reads like a children's book, its kinda sad.

2004-10-28 05:41:56 PM
Wouldn't the Cardinals actually be second place...putting the Yanks as third or fourth (depending on the results of a bronze medal series?) ;)

2004-10-28 05:43:28 PM
Not really a good prank. It would have been a good prank if they hadn't been saying that very thing all over the internets the night before :)

2004-10-28 05:45:49 PM
I'd like to take this opportunity to point out this joke was stolen from my 2004-10-28 12:54:42 AM post in thread 1188607.

That is all.

2004-10-28 05:50:42 PM
Jango, I'd be backing you 100%, but I heard someone muttering it in a baseball chat room on AOL scarcely a minute after the final out.

I am Jim, and I approvhey look, boobies!

2004-10-28 05:55:18 PM
Of course, that means you get the nod for being the first person to bring it up in a "respectable" online location.

2004-10-28 06:12:46 PM
Well, it's just a joke and a picture, thought maybe it was a mean-spirited article. Not that big a deal.

Even still, what happened to the Yankees this year is as memorable as what happened to the Red Sox. The Yankees may have 26 titles, but they're saddled with unprecedented catastrophe.

Flash forward, 2047 World Series:
J.R. Buck, announcer: "Struck him out! And the Barcelona Matadors now lead the World Series three games to none... no team has ever blown a thread-game lead in the post-season, except for the 2004 New York Yankees."

That will always sound good.

The 2004 Red Sox, proving that money can indeed buy a championship.

2004-10-28 07:06:53 PM
It is my belief that the curse has been passed on..to the NY Yankees. Buhahahahahahaha

2004-10-28 07:10:48 PM
Sour grapes New York?
But of course, because what else does a New Yorker pack in their pants.
A shriveled pair of sour grapes.
CHOKE ON 'EM IT BOYS!

2004-10-28 07:13:54 PM
yankees suck

2004-10-28 07:13:55 PM
well crap, if everybody's going to be technical about history repeating itself, it would be:

1903 = 2004
1912 = 2013
1914 = 2015
1915 = 2016
1918 = 2019
2004 = 2105

Your logic is flawed. If your premise was valid, then the Yankees should of won. Thanks for coming out schumway.

2004-10-28 07:15:04 PM
What do you call 25 guys watching the world series?

The Yankees.

2004-10-28 07:17:15 PM
Jesus Christ, you farkers have thin skin.

You just won the title for the first time in 86 years, and deservedly to boot! Laugh it off and move on, like most New Yorkers do with the rest of the crap that the Daily News prints.

2004-10-28 07:19:17 PM
ranold

Tell me your joking. Let's look at some numbers:

Curt Schilling 14 million (12+2 for winning the World Series)
Pedro Martinez 17.5 million
Tim Wakefield 4.35 million
Derek Lowe 4.5 million
Keith Foulke 3.5 million

For a total for 42.85 million for five pitchers. Already, that's higher than the payroll of 5 other teams. Add in Manny's 22.5 million, and the Sox are paying 6 players a total that's higher than HALF of the payrolls in Major League Baseball. The Sox spent the second highest amount of money this year. The outspend the Cardinals by 50 million dollars. While if my premise was 100 percent valid, then, yeah, the Yanks should have won. But the Red Sox aren't paupers. They just used their ridiculous amounts of money better than the Yankees did. They are nearly as "evil" as Larry Lucchino would put it.

(Numbers are couresty of ESPN.com and baseball-reference.com)

2004-10-28 07:21:31 PM
hehehee too funny

2004-10-28 07:22:40 PM
To be serious for a moment, the secret to winning is not spending money in quantity, but spending the money you have effectively. Boston made good investments, the Yankees did not do as well.

It would help if New York didn't deal out so much of their good prospects.

2004-10-28 07:22:50 PM
Boston won good for them...now shut up.

The only thing more tiresome than Yankee bravado is the Red Sox whining. The misery of living in a town with champions in the NFL, NHL and NBA...oh the horror. You spend the GNP of a small nation on your teams salary and still have the balls to call yourself an "underdog".

2004-10-28 07:24:29 PM
And following up wintermute's point, it's nearly impossible for Red Sox fans to deny that the team has a lot of money to spend. As I said, they are just wiser in how they spent their money. They still bought their championship. It's just not an even field anymore in MLB.

2004-10-28 07:26:11 PM
I thought they paid manram that 22.5 mill for his comic relief. This is a waste of a thread. I was happy to see the sox win the W.S. I'm not a real baseball fan. I do appreciate the sport though. My only thought though was game 7 of he alcs. If all yankke fans had to hang their hopes on was he curse...well you are just farked. It wll be more interesting to see who the sox keep. I think they should letpedro go. He is getting old, and his endurance is fading( see game 7 alcs). Keep Schilling, Wakefield, and Lowe. Man Lowe is freaking amazing. Definitely keep manram. He is pure comic gold in the field.

New York Daily News to Red Sox: "See You In 2090"

Oh now, I think the Yankees will make it back to the playoffs before then.

2004-10-28 07:28:41 PM
oh come ON... it's a joke -- and a funny one at that. And a backhanded tip of the hat. Or something. Take it easy Sox fans. Yes, you are awesome.
