I've got better things to do on a Saturday than read 40 pieces of someone elses mail. I think I'm going to go scratch myself and watch some TV now...

I like letter 5, Bush Congratulates Lay on having a trophy wife :)

Ken Lay is bad. Ken Lay knows George W. Bush. Therefore George W. Bush is bad. Isn't this the 'guilt by association' approach for which Joe McCarthy was condemned? This is getting tiresome. If someone has evidence of wrongdoing on GWB's part, bring it forward. Otherwise, can the crap until you do.

wow. those letters are really condemning. these letters show that their relationship was more of a symbiotic relationship than anything. lay was the head of a huge corporation in bush's state, and bush was the governor of the state where enron was. big frigging deal. these letters hardly prove that they were conspiring to fark over the world

"these letters hardly prove that they were conspiring to fark over the world."

The only reason anyone cares is that GWB opened his yap and claimed he never met Mr. Lay. Ratchet down that knee-jerking a little.

This IS actually evidence of wrongdoing. Mr. Bush LIED when he said he didn't know Ken Lay. He lied again when he said he knew him, but they wern't friends (and lay was just a "supporter"). These letters clearly indicate that they were friends, and that even their families were friends. Why would Bush lie?

When a certain previous president was caught it a lie, people certainly thought it was problematic. Heck, HIS lies were about unimportant things like his sex life, whereas GWB's lies are about IMPORTANT things like being 0wn3d by certain corporate criminal-types.

Anyone who thinks this isn't important needs to take George Bush's dick OUT of their mouth and wake the ƒuck up.

Jjorsett, it's quite amusing that you already find this tiresome, since this is just the beginning of it. This has "got legs," and really serious wrongdoing will continue to be exposed day after day, week after week, and month after month. So it will be good to know that when it *really* gets nasty for junior, you'll be ready to jump off the roof.

For reasons now extremely clear, I can see why "The Smoking Gun" is called that. This is some nice stuff..

On the other side, whats up with Kenny Boy's 't's? He writes extremely oddly.

The best is page five, about how its good you have a young good looking wife. I bet bush tried to fark her.

God the demoncRATS are desperate. Pathetic really.

Angry, is more the word I'd use. Wouldn't you be if you had proof that a company in bed with just about everyone on the administration's staff, was plotting against you (the party)? There IS proof of that, an official memo was found which clearly states their plan: to make the democrats look bad.

And bush lied multiple times about his relationship with kenny boy. Had this been clinton, the GOP would have every goddamn lawyer looking for a grab at power and money, on the case.

2002-02-16 02:14:55 PM
Even if Bush lied (I never heard him claim that he didnt know Lay which isnt to say it never happened) at least he didnt like under OATH. Phagg0rs. Oh yeah, and at least he didnt give away nuclear secrets and strategies to the Chinese. Hi, lets just GIVE 20 years worth of nuclear weapons research to our largest potential enemies: over 1,000,000,000 communists. GREAT IDEA! phagg0rs.

Phineas, a lie, even under oath, about whether or not you got a blowjob, is orders of magnitude more miniscule than a lie about having a relationship with a man who ruined thousands of his employees lives.

Besides, you would think that bringing dignity to the White House would mean telling the truth whether or not you're under oath.

2002-02-16 02:26:14 PM
DoctorCaligari: This has "got legs," and really serious wrongdoing will continue to be exposed day after day, week after week, and month after month.

What "really serious wrongdoing"? You apparently know something that no one else does. If the Democrats had jack, they'd have come out with it by now. If the Washington Post had the goods, the front page would have been saturated with it. So if you have something, share it with the rest of us. What laws were broken? What secret back-room deals were made? What actions did the Bushies take that they can be prosecuted for?

Icenine: The GAO is trying to see if there is any, but Mr. Cheney won't let them.

Rubbish. The head of GAO has said that he wants the data on meetings and persons because GAO wants to see who had input into the administration's energy policy, and what that input was. No one from GAO has so much as whispered that anyone broke the law; the stated purpose for demanding the data was to bring 'transparency' to government. Your interpretation that GAO is looking for wrongdoing is simply your animosity toward GWB manifesting itself in wishful thinking.

Cheney has said that every late-20th-century administration has traded away some of its powers to Congress regarding executive privilege, and that's it's weakening the office. Consequently, the Bush administration is going to put a stop to it. I hope the GAO does bring its threatened lawsuit: it's about time that the Supreme Court weighs in on to whether the legislative branch has the power to demand internal data from the executive, particularly Constitutional officers like the Vice President. Personally, I think GAO is going to lose.

>No one from GAO has so much as whispered that anyone broke the law; the stated purpose for
>demanding the data was to bring 'transparency' to government.

You apparently aren't reading the same newspapers as we are. The GAO has expressed repeatedly that their desire is to determine whether or not Enron helped shaped policy to an undue degree, which given how much Lay and Co. helped get GWB elected, could be extremely damaging to the white house.

Hint: No president has ever needed to claim the privilege that Cheney is demanding right now.

This is merely a stalling tactic by the White House.

The intent is is to buy time and divert attention from the far more serious Sept. 11th investigation.

If the Supreme-Whores rule in favor of the White House, this will further enable the Bush Crime Family Cabel to cover up their involvement of training, funding, aiding, and protecting the terrorists.

The Supreme-Whores have no credibility.

The Bush Crime Family Cable has no credibility.

The House of Cards will fall, your Emperor has no clothes.

Jjorsett says "The head of GAO has said that he wants the data on meetings and persons because GAO wants to see who had input into the administration's energy policy, and what that input was."

Correct that the GAO is asking for names, dates and topics discussed. The White house is required by law to give this info to the GAO, a fact which is clear.

Untrue that the GAO wants to know what "that input was." This is a lie concocted by The White House. The specific input is indeed privileged as long as there weren't any non-governmental employees involved in the meetings - this is exactly what the GAO desires to find out and exactly the information the White House is refusing to divulge.

Jjorsett says "No one from GAO has so much as whispered that anyone broke the law; the stated purpose for demanding the data was to bring 'transparency' to government."

If you cold explain why you want the White House to be able to do any damn thing they want behind closed doors, I'd appreciate it. Bonus point for explaining why you're OK with that even though it appears White House policy has been influenced by Ken Lay, a person whom by your own description is "bad". Constitutional officers like the Vice President. Personally, I think GAO is going to lose.

Obviously, the American people do know this, it's public knowledge. I hate to break it to ya, but everybodie's grandpa did business with nazi's. It was called being alive in 1942. And everybodies great-granpa owned slaves. ANd every day, we buy things from corporations that used to finance both slaves and nazis when our granparents and great-granparents were at the helm of these corps. Quit whining about someone's grandpappy. I have no doubt that yours was guilty of some crime against modern sensibilities. What does any of that have to do with Ken Lay and George Bush?

"Correct that the GAO is asking for names, dates and topics discussed. The White house is required by law to give this info to the GAO, a fact which is clear." -- SHockingelk

Explain to me why that is clear? The GAO is specifically designed for Congressional oversight. I fail to see how the office of vice-president is a member or officer of Congress.

"If you cold explain why you want the White House to be able to do any damn thing they want behind closed doors"

It's called privacy? Hello. We have absolutely no right to know this. Our leaders should be free to meet or have conversations with anyone they want. Or would you prefer our president sit isolated in the White House, unable to confer with anyone for fear of political reprisal.

HA HA HA! Nobody in my familiy I know of did either of these things.

"What does any of that have to do with Ken Lay and George Bush?"

Nothing really except point out that crime runs in families from generation to another. It's a genetic thing.

Why do you approve of these things?

Are you genetically predisposed to apathy?

So what if these two talked..

Bush never said ANYTHING about Lay under oath. Therefore he is not lying in a serious way. In fact, everybody lies, for example, Clinton.

There wasn't anything there short of politeness and good manners on the part of Bush. Nothing incriminating or improper. You would probably find thousands of similar documents in any politicians records.

Enron pushed Kyoto, which Bush struck down, Enron pushed many policies that the Bush presidency struck down. Big deal that they talked.

The International Communist Conspiracy is conspiring to OVERTURN the votes of America and working towards INSTALLING a Communist/Democrat dictatorship. They have one element of it with Campaign finance 'reform'. They are protecting their incumbents and putting up a standard for which the Democrat President can SUSPEND elections and prohibit competition.

The ICC is working towards turning America into Zimbabwe, Laos, Cambodia, South Africa or any other improverished nation. They do this so they can 'distribute poverty' equally.

When the ICC takes power, they will ban Christianity, execute Conservatives, Christians, Gun Owners and they will also kill leftist dissenters. Supporting the ICC will bring us all down the same road.

The ICC wants to bring the brutality of China to American squares. Thru traitorous Republicans and scum Democrats, they are starting to install the framework for the 'People's Republic of America'. The sad thing is that the President is letting the ICC win. The President might just be like a Frenchman, he will concede, look the other way and then surrender.

Astrocat, you sir, are a total lunatic. My theories are grounded in FACT. From the 200 Communists in the State Department in 1950, at least 60,000 Communists or Leftist workers hold Government jobs.

The Supreme Court will be 'packed' by the ICC. FDR failed at it in the 30s thanks to a vigilant press and legislators. But, the ICC now has the media as their slaves. The Supreme Court has already legalized the genocide of infants, which is an ICC supported move. They will be the rubber-stampers of all ICC moves.

Will the ICC try to lie and bring up false 9/11 charges to remove the President, the VP, the Speaker and others from office? Yes. It is proven that the ICC is like a pack of wolves, they want the blood of President Bush.

The ICC installed the Taliban as revenge against those who fought off the Soviets in the 80s. When the Taliban crumbled, the ICC escorted Mullah Omar and Osama Bin Laden out of the country and they are now harboring him. They keep those men to embarass the Bush Presidency. The ICC, thru their puppet Clinton, gave money to the Taliban for the ICC-supported RACIST War on Drugs. The ICC supports the War on Drugs to turn the African American community against the Police.

The ICC supports the Islamic Jihad. Both want to destroy America.

The ICC has shredding methods that would make Ken Lay green with envy, we will never find the documents for these, they code them and shred them to keep the truth hidden. Just because the truth is shredded, doesn't mean we can't realize that it exists.

Fight on.

privacy? no. more like conspiracy. if our leaders are really acting in our (the country's) best interests, why keep it a secret? WE elected them to run OUR country. and they damn well better be doing their jobs.

businesses have a right to privacy. elected office comes with responsibility: not to put your personal interests ahead of the nation's, for one. are you going to argue that elected officials SHOULD be profitting illegally from their positions now?

There you go! And they Can't Lie!
